Eurogamer: Zelda's launch timing in Europe is still unclear

When should Zelda: Breath of the Wild release in Europe?

What a joke if true

Do they want people buying a switch to play some Wii U ports?

How is this still happening in 2017?

And not playing it in their native languages.

Wanna buy the new Zelda for your kid? Better learn english first!

Localisation (as in translation) shouldn't have been the issue here if the US version is ready for March. There's no reason why the other languages would not be ready yet. The game's EU translation has to be finished by now already if they launch it in mid-March.

The article references the SF Zero discussions between NCL and NoE QA: there the issue was solely related to quality improvements. I assume NoE QA was pushing for more testing.

If the game is a launch title elsewhere, the game will also be released in Europe by April.

They have been delaying important launches (not as important as Zelda, though) for quite some time: Fire Emblem, Yo-kai Watch, Pokémon Sun & Moon, etc, so this wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck starting the console cycle with this approach, though.

Hopefully it is released in March.

I’m getting the Wii U version first, so being region-free would mean nothing to me.

That would be very strange coming from a big publisher like Nintendo to not be able to do translation work on time. There isn't even voice acting!
If Mass Effect with thousands of line of texts and dialogs can do it, why not Zelda?
I guess we'll see.

Shit, we're really getting Mario AND Zelda at launch?

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Poor Skyrim RIP. Bethesda on Switch over before it began.

Haha, you have no idea. It happens so often in so many companies. HQ sets a deadline, but also a limit on the resources for a certain branch and thus that branch is unable to meet the set deadline. "Good" governance.

I can also see going with "Okay, the console is region free but Zelda will be region locked to avoid impact in sales from imports" like Atlus did with Persona 4 Arena lol

Hopefully Switch is region free, no issue if that is the case. I don't want Swedish on my game cases anyway, I hate that.

It's also cheaper to import, only issue is shipping time.

Fire Emblem was deliberately held back for commercial reasons, no reason for them to do this with Zelda

It is possible that this news is true..but for now it is a rumour. Why do you behave like it is some official news..?

The rumor doesn't even state Zelda is missing launch in EU. It's simply that they don't have confirmation that it is.

When was the last time eurogamer was wrong?

When their previous article stated Zelda was missing launch, period? Stop treating every rumor article as Gospel.

Dear Nintendo: we speak English in Australia and New Zealand. Stop fucking giving us games in 7 different languages. We will happily take some USA stock with different classification stickers.

We are discussing a rumor in this thread at face value because we know it is a rumor and we are too lazy to every single time write "Assuming the rumor that is spawned by a Eurogamer article about the unclarity of the European launch date of BotW is true then...".

English isn't my native language so maybe you misread my first sentence.
I know this is a rumor, it just seems very unlikely to me that the localisation isn't done yet for Europe.

Just because Mario is ready for launch it doesn't mean it will release at launch. Sitting on a 100% done game for scheduling reasons is something Nintendo would absolutely do.

The only way I could see this happening is if Zelda gets delayed in Europe but Europe is the only region that gets Mario at launch. That would still be a clusterfuck of incompetence I just don't want to imagine happening.

I don't expect a delay for Europe. That would be preposterous.

It is still permitted on this forum to discuss based on rumours. When a rumour is considered not worthy of discussion the thread is closed.

Trying to police the thread and pointing out the difference between official news and rumours doesn't add anything to the discussion. Unless you want every post to start "If this rumour is true ...."

Negative rumour: Zelda to possibly miss launch in Europe

"I told you this company is just incompetent!"

Positive rumour: Switch to possibly be region-free.

"This isn't confirmed yet!"

El oh el

Uh, I have no issue with threads like this existing or the discussions had within. But if you considered the previous EG rumor to be 100% accurate and you're now blindly assuming the same here, there's a problem.
