Is it bad that I have anxiety hoping for an emerald gem to show up just because its my birthstone? Hell my brother is an amethyst and my sisters a ruby they're both lucky lol

There's like zero way an Emerald is not going to show up at some point. I think they purposely left out a few popular gems to have characters be introduced eventually.

I mean, it's obvious at this point someone in the Stevencrew is a Sonic fan as that Sanic figurine has made multiple cameos through the series, I can't imagine they'd let the series go on without an Emerald eventually at the very least.

I love how Skinny Jasper barely has over 30 seconds of screen time and she's already gaining lots of popularity.

Give Tumblr a speaking background character and they'll go wild with the possibilities.

No doubt about it. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever Emerald ends up being will get a chaos reference.

You mean the Chaos Emeralds?

You know, the gems make a lot of soldiers and superweapons...an excessive amount for simple reserves, and we don't really hear about them encountering other species besides humans. On top of that they have no other use for planet besides making more gems to aid in the war effort since they don't require anything to live. Do you ever wonder if they've been combating another equally powerful species? Like a species made of precious metals and run by the Platinum Authority?

I mean why make so many if you aren't expending them somewhere? Gems live forever pretty much.

There is the possibility that at some point, the gems all fought each other before forming the Diamond Authority.

Also possible: White Diamond may currently be at war with Blue and Yellow. The end of the rebellion may have broken the Authority.

We STILL know so very little of her, and she would make for a better final antagonist than something completely new.

obviously they are at war with the sneeple.

Especially if they happen to be gems (like Yellow Pearl, the Ruby Squad, and Blue Pearl).
I don't usually see minor/secondary human characters get that much love. haha
Which is honestly very understandable.

(Btw you might want to add a [/spoiler] to my post that you quoted :P)

Gems are like ponies for bronies.

And I posted that message incomplete, lol.

That is what I have been thinking.

And then it could be fun with some third hippie species of "organic gem materials" such as jet, amber and corals that are as good as wiped out already.

I mean, as just a general statement of purpose, we all already deduced that, so you were not spoiled.

I was wondering why it didn't seem to be discussed, so I searched and
zeemumu is the only one who ever posted the word terraforms in this thread
so if they haven't followed the other threads closely or it has been worded completely differently I think it's fair to think of it as a spoiler.

Also what would gems need
terraforming for anyway?

I just watched the leaked episodes... I feel sorry for the crew, but then again here where I am I'll have to wait some more months for them so... In my case I guess it's as always.

On the other hand...

HOLY CRAP THE YELLOW DIAMOND SONG HELL YES HELL YESSSSS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*insert Diamond tune*

I guess their version of terraforming just involves eroding rock away to make canyons to speed up the kindergarten creation process.

On the leaked episodes...

Where the hell did indignant Steven come from? Maybe it has just been too big of a break between episodes and I've forgotten stuff, but it felt oddly out of character for him not to trust that if the gems said that something was a bad idea (particularly Garnet), that it probably was. It was even weirder that Greg would happily accompany Steven to a place he was told that the gems had refused to take him. Yeah...I didn't really like the contrived way they got those two characters where they needed to be for all of this to kick off, tbh.

The complaints end there, though! Seeing Blue and Yellow Diamond was awesome. I enjoyed the Amethysts, and really love how much their approval would mean for our Amethyst. Plus Greg was hilarious the entire time.

Here is an idea for a spinoff show:

The house of Quartz

Set after the main show ends, focuses on all the quartzes from the zoo living on a house and getting into shenanigans.

Starring Amethyst as the fun loving protagonist, Holly Blue Agate as the grumpy straight man, the quartz as lovable goofs, corrupted jasper as their pet dog.

Featuring: Andy Demayo as the uptight neighbor, Peridot as the crazy scheme best friend, Lapis as the snarky sarcastic friend, the zoo humans as the wacky hippie colony next door.

Episodes revolve around the quartz doing silly stuff getting on agate's nerves.

I'll expect my check in the mail, Cartoon Network.

I'm not sure if this has been said already... But, ehh... I've noticed the Diamonds use the intersection colors of RGB.

I wonder if there's a specific reason for this...

Im betting it's intentional but not for plot reasons, most likely aesthetical and design reasons.

Pretty cool tho.

He's hurt that the Gems didn't tell him Rose shattered PD. I mean, it's akin to finding out your mom was secretly a murderer except it's worse because he IS Rose. So
the Gems keeping more secrets
is something he can't deal with.

On-top of this,
Steven is also going through a lot of stress right now as the series has been continually hinting throughout the season, so I think it was a lot easier for him to 'explode'. He goes from blaming the gems, to blaming himself, and this is something to notice about Steven. In the past, he usually would never assign blame to anyone. He was the opposite image of someone to assign blame and trying to be accepting and understanding of everything and everyone. But many who go through that mindset to want to be good and helpful and understanding often without knowing how to deal with negative emotions will start to become further split from the ideal as they find they can help others issues, but close off and don't know how to deal with their own. Steven is not in the best place right now mentally, he's been taking on way too much and not talking to anyone fully about it (and the only person who really knows what he's going through is Connie when they were fused, someone younger than him and couldn't fully understand or be able to help as he can't fully either). The need for blame is stemming from these emotions of regret, remorse, confusion, anger (at self and others), etc., that he simply doesn't know how to deal with it. In his fairness, he's only 14 and had to deal with a lot of shit, and though he's strong and capable and wants to be part of the team so much happened so quickly and he doesn't know how to process all of it.

Blue's a primary in RGB whereas pink, yellow and cyan are the secondary / intersectional colors, though.

I just recently went through Loreweaver's liveblogs of SU and at one point he theorized that the Temple Fusion was the leader of the Gems (I think it was prior to Giant Woman), and ever since I've had this idea that White Diamond was basically the Mew for Gem biology in that she was a common ancestor or "missing link", essentially. Granted, that still leaves a lot of holes in the hierarchy, but I almost can't help but feel like they're building up to a reveal that White Diamond was dead all along, or something.

That would go against the era 2 diamond authority logo.

Pink was removed from the logo after her death, why keep White around if she's also dead?

So according to Cartoon Network, they planned to upload the Steven Bomb early all along: http://www.polygon.com/tv/2017/1/5/14177940/steven-universe-leaks-2017

...But they didn't properly explain why they then removed every episode but Steven's Dream. Which then forces people who wanted to watch the episodes early to either hope they have a cable provider that still has them On Demand or download/view them illegally.

I think one episode was supposed to release this week and they were going to release a new episode on their app every week for the next 5 weeks and then they'd all air on television.

I think uploading them all at once was an honest mistake.

Finally watched the episodes. I think it was episode 12 that had some drawings in it that looked really off to me. I enjoyed it overall. Wonder when we'll get more new episodes.

If you notice though,
while the gem may be darker for accurate representation the blue tone is clearer than in other blue gems (just look at her face). It's not completely cyan but...
The symbol is (or is really close to) and all.

IDK, when I noticed I was pretty weirded out that they didn't use the actual RGB instead of the intersections, since R+G+B = White (or rather, white/light does decompose into RGB). Then again with the whole thing about bodies being made out of light... HMMMMMMMMM.

As for White Diamond... She was also the one with the most colonies right? I believe the authority symbol actually does call for age too. In order it'd be: White > Yellow > Blue > Pink.

But if she's so important, why never reference her though... What's the deal with her?

It's always so nice to be filled of so many questions! :D

Maybe they don't want the public to know that white is gone, either because it would expose the secret that white diamond can be killed or because white was a product of fusion, and in this case it'd be a fusion of 3 different courts, which is probably a no-no.

Nobody sees the White Diamond! Not nobody, not no how!

Pink was already allegedly shattered so it's probably the 2nd one.

That's the final boss.
One that's defeated when Steven/Stevonnie/massive-fusion-with-Steven-involved manages to talk down one or more of the Diamonds into breaking the fusion and stopping the battle.

I mean, they've already given
Blue and even Yellow Diamond some sympathetic depth. It's possible Blue and maybe Yellow would turn on White Diamond if she took things way too far, like "destroy all of Gem civilization/Homeworld just to defeat the Crystal Gems" too far.

I feel like it's already been said (sorry, I didn't read all the posts up until now), but given the recent Steven bomb, I really hope there aren't too many filler episodes now.

If there are some filler episodes I hope they are about the gems and their past, like maybe even Lapis and her
potential terraforming mission to earth
. Really, I hope we get more episodes soon.

Given the shit has gone through which includes the attempts on his life, the secrecy of the people he deems family, him not being able to save people as he tries to do, trying to live up to his mother's legacy, then realizing her legacy might not be as great as he thought at first, etc. Then to add him seeing the carriage and the gems continue to be wishy washy i could see why he would finally explode due to being tired of that shit, hell even when Garnet was trying to warn him she didn't want to say anything (she even mentioned that "you can't meet her" which i guess she saw due to future vision)

But this rebellious attitude it almost cost him another person he cares about so hopefully it calms him but also hopefully the Gems will be more open to him.

As for Greg i think it just a case of him trusting and loving his son so he will help him out. Plus it was just to look at a thing instead of actively placing himself in danger like say a fight.

Speculation on an Endgame:

We know that Rose Quartz gems were designed to heal damage. It seemed to be their primary function in the Zoo and our Rose Quartz and Steven were capable of this too. So it stands to assume that other bubbled Rose Quartz gems would have this ability to some degree as well.

Given BD's sentimental streak and love of PD we have now found out that many of the things related to PD have been preserved and kept whole. We also know that BD is honest with her grief while YD is grieving, yet in a different way.

We also know that PD seemed revered among Gemkind much like Rose was revered among the Crystal Gems...

That said, I could easily see Steven using words and shit to sway and nibble away at the two GDA Diamonds that seem closest to PD and gain their confidence. It would pretty much only take BD to side with Steven before YD felt some real pressure. Oh sure you say, but what about WD? WD has not been mentioned or shown to have sorrow for the loss of PD in any way. WD could back up YD with a whole court of gems to resist BD and the Crystal Gems unification. But what if...

What if in a last ditch effort to turn the tide of battle the Rose Quartzs in the Zoo were released. What if in a rousing display of song and tears PD was resurrected via the efforts of the many with Steven leading the charge via contrition and desperation? Surely YD would be swayed leaving one GDA left in opposition... the enigmatic WD...

Wonky, bizarre and probably unlikely... but interesting to fathom how exactly the show could get there, and fairly quickly...

New Episode Question...

Why is Agate's gem the same as Lapis?

Ehhhh, it's similar, but I guess there's only so many gem shapes and colors they can do. The Ruby, Sapphire, and Amethyst gems all look pretty similar from afar apart from their colors.

It's not, though?
It has facets, while Lapis does not.

It isn't? Holly's has sides and Lapis' doesnt

Agate's gem has more cuts? compared to Lapis' gem which his more rounded.

For the record:
that particular shape is called a teardrop cut.
Bonus:
Blue Diamond's gem isn't symmetrical like Yellow's and also, rather fittingly, resembles a teardrop cut: spoiler image

Yeah, Stephen has been through some tough shit. He's so different from S1 Steven now.

Plus for Greg, we already saw that he's willing to put himself through trouble in order to spend more time with his son and have him look up to him.

Wait I just saw Steven's Dream on the Comcast xfinity app (TV). Are they releasing them sooner ?

Well, all of them leaked on Monday (I think) because CN got the idea of releasing each of the five new episodes every week on their app from here until the "bomb" started at the end of January, but somebody screwed up and all of them got posted at once for a while.

And now a lot of people have seen them. A lot.

An interesting thought as to why all the
bubbled Rose Quartz Gems are in the zoo: They fulfilled the roles the current amethyst--only adopted to the role by Blue after the war--guards perform.

They are designed to be big beefy soldiers, yet their power sets are not at all martially inclined. Aside for their size--useful to guard and handle unruly humans--they seem to be otherwise designed to provide for, protect and control organic life. In short, they are the perfect zookeepers.

Would probably explain Rose's fascination with humans and life. And her general lack of respect for them.

Also would explain why other gems seem so clueless about Rose's powers: they were never common to anywhere else but the Zoo.
What if the reason the zoo humans have legend of someone being "Hurt" is because of Rose Quartz? holy shit what if that started her desire to fight for earth and humans

So for the past week I've been thinking about how one would go about making a shot for shot remake of Jojo Stardust Crusaders openings with Steven Universe characterseason while keeping in some semblance of symbolism. I don't think know my drawing skills are quite up to participate enough to actually accomplish this.

I wonder if our Pearl was White Diamond's Pearl.
