Wtf. Scalebound announce thread is 16 pages.
Scalebound cancelled thread is at 9r0. Seems more people are interested in the game being cancelled.

I think it's safe to say that there is a lot more interest in this game now that it's cancelled than there ever was since it was announced and probably more than their ever would have been if it released.

Agreed. Thought our conversation throughout this whole thread was pretty insightful.

Really enjoyed it! You the real one, Trup1aya.

Never thought I'd earn such kind words. Cheers!

Imagine if it comes back from the dead.

ONE CAN DREAM!

Then we can get crazy reactions in 2021 like we did for TLG when it was revealed.

Can we stop with this shit? Just because people weren't vocal on some internet forum doesn't mean there was no interest. I never commented on it yet I watched all the trailers and I was looking forward to the Scorpio/Windows version big time, lots of people like me that are pissed off.

To be fair, there is no reason to downplay the impact either.
On NeoGaf, Scalebound was the 2nd most anticipated XB1 exclusive back in 2015 (behind Quantum Break - when SB was supposed to come out in 2016), and top most anticipated in 2016.
I mean that doesn't really mean anything dude. Like people could say they are excited for Sea of a Thieves yet a thread only gets 2 pages max( well 4 pages with the newest tavern video but that also has posts of people wondering if it gets released now)whenever they pop up. Yet they are supper pumped for it. As with scalebound. I sure didn't see any of that excitement in the threads( aside from the 1 launch thread back in 2014)

Haha, totally. I think i put something like that out as a dumb theory, so microsoft can have a ffvii/shenmue/tlg moment

gosh i'd be so pissed if they gave the game to another developer though

I have absolutely nothing to say about sea of thieves but boy howdy i'm excited as hell for it. I don't think I need to actively post to show how excited I am about it.

Tin hat theory: what if Microsoft leaked the cancellation to drum up interest because It's been talked about more since it was cancelled then since it was announced.

I mean obviously its not true, but what a ploy right? Absolutely no way they could pull it off.

Yeah, I agree. This is the longest and most positive thread I've seen. I didn't see a lot of excitement for it since it was shown at E3. I remember far more negatives then positives.

So I'm confused here.. I looked back at the E3 2014 page on IGN for Microsoft:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06...news-from-microsofts-e3-2014-press-conference

And these exclusives were also shown:

Forza Horizon 2 - Released
Dance Central - Released
Sunset Overdrive - Released
Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Edition - Released immediately
Rise of the Tomb Raider - Released

Do those fit your model? And if they don't, what criteria are you using? Everyone has an agenda (including myself) however, it's clear you are just trying to paint this as negatively as possible. Microsoft has fumbled the ball a few times, you don't need to stretch yourself out to make it look worse.

If you are limiting your list to games 'revealed' in 2014, then you are incorrect again since (at the very least) The Witness, Uncharted 4, NMS, Eve: Valk, and The Order were revealed earlier.

The truth of the matter is that Sony launched and sorted Vita. The handheld market ain't what it used to be.

Uncharted
Kill zone
Lbp
MNR
PlayStation all-star
Sly
I mean, what did everyone expect? Mobile killed the handheld star

I feel there were two things that killed Vita off.

1) Memory Cards
2) Expectations - people expected PS3 games on the go, it actually suited being an indie machine much better. No PS3 type games coming to the system = perceived failure

The launch crop was excellent I thought, great support there. I'd pick up one again if it wasn't for those mem cards.

Fatality.

Far too much trolling in this thread, cheers for keeping people straight.

That's not remotely new though, since the Xbox One launched some Xbox thread have trouble getting past 3 pages. The only time i've seen a really big Xbox thread is Scorpio related topics. Schadenfreude will fuel any thread to 20 pages however, regardless of platform.

Thank you. I was going to say that, but it's better that another person did, otherwise I would look like part of the so called "M$ Defen$e Force".

Glad to hear directly from Kamiya on this. Sounds like he's taking the cancellation like a badass.

I'm looking forward to his comeback.

I'm no defense force or anything but I think he was talking specifically about games announcements, that maybe why those games aren't listed as well as a lot of Ps4 games too.

Wtf. Scalebound announce thread is 16 pages.

There was no real reason to discuss Microsoft's 1st and 3rd party relationships, their history with 3rd party developers, their future 1st party portfolio, their outlook on games as a service, Phil Spencer vs Don Mattrick, and more in the Scalebound announcement thread...

That is what this thread has become....

I'm no defense force or anything but I think he was talking specifically about games announcements, that maybe why those games aren't listed as well as a lot of Ps4 games too.

Then Forza Horizon 2 shouldn't be on that list, it was announced by IGN First a few days before the conference.

Microsoft has now canceled three high profile projects that they advertised heavily and each time we seem to hear about their shitty treatment of these developers. I'd really like more information than what we have though.

You know the source of those complaints of shitty treatment of devs? Forum posts by random individuals.

MS treats their devs like their favorite children who can do no wrong.

There, does that ease your concern? No idea if it's true but it doesn't seem to matter to anyone else.

Hehe crazy
They want to watch the world burn.

For me it isn't that. It is the fact that this was the one that I can't just brush off. So a few games get cancelled and it happens. This game was a new series that was deep into development. This game showed that there was still new ideas coming down the line. Not a sequel, not an established franchise, but something new and creative.

The demise of it leaves little hope for the future line up form xbox, at least for me. I love Halo and will continue to play it. I have Forza and Gears, but haven't played them to great extent. My problem is what else do we have to look forward to now?

I have Recore and Quantum Break and enjoyed them both greatly, but they weren't the huge hits that I think they should have been. So what do we have moving forward? It is just a low point for the community. Not directly related to Scalebound, but it represents the future of xbox as a whole, at least for me.

They can only pray that Nintendo's Switch is a complete bomb. Right now, the WiiU's effective lack of market presence has given them room to breathe. If the Switch is a hit then the PS4 is well positioned to hold it's own. I'm not so sure about XB1.

Really? LOL, this keeps getting better and better. Nintendo has a worse track record than MS when it comes to 3rd party games/companies. If anyone has a long hard road, it's Nintendo. Not to mention, that sure we'll have Nintendo's games. But seeing how the Switch is *Supposedly* less powerful than the PS4 and X1, how can you even make that statement?

I...

You do realize that many of the se posts are being made by devs and individuals with knowledge about these situations.

Actually, some of those forum posts are from developers who work with, have worked with or know people who work with Microsoft. By all means, be sceptical but there is a little more substance to the complaints then you are trying to imply.

Because there is always time for the fuckery, here's the list of games that were announced for their respective console at E3 2014 and not before during IGN first or anything else.

E3 2014 Microsoft Exclusives Shown:

3. Ori and the Blind Forest: Came out 2015, 360 version cancelled?
4. Inside: Came out 2016
6. Phantom Dust: Cancelled, looking to start over with new development team
7. Crackdown: Unreleased
8. Scalebound: Cancelled

Master Chief Collection: Came out 2014

7. Bloodborne: Came out 2015
8. No Man's Sky: Came out 2016
9. Ratchet & Clank: Came out 2016
Grim Fandango : Came out 2015
Little Big Planet 3: Came out 2014

LOL.

Hasn't Moon Studios and the developers of Cuphead both stated multiple times that MS is great to work with?

I guess it's easy to brush off those posts when you have an agenda

Will be interested to hear the story behind this. The showings for it were never strong, but on paper it had a lot going for it so I was really hoping it would come together.

Could be a difficult time for Platinum right now, even though they still have a few games lined up, Scalebound falling through must put a fairly big dent in their financial plans. :(

Them and Playground Games, who thanks to Forza Horizon series are now working on their first original game.

Uncharted
Kill zone
Lbp
MNR
PlayStation all-star
Sly

The handheld market might be bad now compared to the time before smartphones were the norm but it's not totally fucked. 3DS sales are 60 million+.

Sony just did a really shit job with the Vita. Or for lack of a better term, "stopped caring".

Yes, you are. He's talking about exclusive games announced at E3 2014.

No he's def not confused. If you read the end of his post he mentions "If you are limiting your list to games 'revealed' in 2014, then you are incorrect again since (at the very least) The Witness, Uncharted 4, NMS, Eve: Valk, and The Order were revealed earlier."

he's aware

Kamiya also said MS were good to work with. People don't normally throw their business partners under the bus unless shit hits the fan. And of course there will be times when business relationship flourishs for one reason or other. Fact of the matter is at this they have ended up cancelling multiple announced project this generation, and often times horror stories come out of those situations. Until someone from MS comes out to tell their end of the story, we will operate with the information that we have.

Edit: Kamiya is back bitches. Someone take'em on a world tour or something.

That last line of my message that you quoted:

Good for them?

You know, it's possible for both perspectives to be correct. I don't really have a horse in this race.

I really don't understand why people feel the need to endlessly defend Microsoft. They don't need your help and honestly, the corporate apologist is not a good look.

Just let it go.

What horror stories outside of Phantom Dust? Which has already had two sides to it, but some people are sticking with the "it's all MS fault"

Good for them?

Both perspectives are likely correct. It's just funny how the side that trashes MS is fine, but if you try give a differnt side like all of a sudden you are a "corporate apologist"

And I could edit your one sentence to: I really don't understand why people feel the need to endlessly trash Microsoft.
