Solange or Beyonce?

"Beyonce" is a nexus of songwriters, image consultants, producers and endorsements. Solange seems like a legit artist.

I like them both equally for what they are. Both talented, both have good records out.

Edit: Solange punched Jay-Z? Solange>Beyonce, then.

We looked up the who wrote the songs in Beyonce and Solange albums- Beyonce has 6-15 writers for most of her songs. While Solange writes most of her songs herself.
It's manufactured vs. personal.

But yeah, I'm curious what the rest of you think.

Don't let that make you think that Beyoncé is crafted in anyone else's image. Post Matthew Knowles, Beyonce has a hand in every aspect of her brand and output. Her talent seems to emerge out of her personal and profressional perfectionism.

It's like a self-crafted manufacturing. I, mean, every artist manufactures an image. Her's is just, so... Tight?

That said, I prefer Solange's output. Though it's very obvious who daddy spent the most time encouraging and cultivating.

what Jay-z do to you?

I prefer Solange's more "dreamy rnb" sound to Beyonce's music, even though Beyonce is clearly the better vocalist. But they're both incredibly talented people who, amazingly, only get better with each album release. If they both continue the pattern their best work is still ahead of them.

Solange. Losing You and the whole of A Seat and the Table are fantastic. But that's not to discredit Beyoncé who has had an amazing career.

Are films a lesser art form due to the inherent collaborative nature of the medium? Good art isn't a question of collaboration versus independence. They're both completely valid paths to a final product. Kanye works with just as large a team of writers and producers as Beyonce, and he's often considered one of the greatest working artists around right now.

While Beyoncé has the bigger name and bigger discography, I vastly prefer Solange. She's funky and soulful, while Beyoncé mostly excels at making radio pop. That said, Beyoncé right now is way more than just the music, she's a brand, the music is only a small part of the "Beyoncé brand".

Solange's collabs are really good in general. I love the song she did with Janelle Monáe.

Lmao some posts here

Solange's latest album is the album of the year 2016 for me. She's really talented, and i've been listening to her music since Solo Star (13 years ago).

Now, are you guys serious ? Did i just read that Beyonce has no talent ? Lmao come on.

Beyonce has the better discography and that's not even a contest. I can't believe that i have to type this on my keyboard, it's the craziest thing i've seen today, and we had the Trump press confernence few hours ago.

Yes.

I've always found Beyoncé pretentious, a mediocre dancer, very solid singer but with no personality. But I'm in the minority there. Solange is more interesting musically at least.

She isnt that relevant now, but she was making hits way into her 40s. The Ray of Light album was a huge hit.

Not saying Beyonce wont get there, but it has been done before.

I'm not saying she didn't have hits, but Beyonce is still one of the biggest and most relevant stars and it seems to be growing as she gets older which is just weird. She still resonates with the under 18 crowd. Madonna's peak relevance was in the 80's to mid 90's; but she was nowhere near as relevant afterwards as the rest of the pop stars.

AS strong as Solange's current album turned out to be (imho, better then Bey's Lemonade by a small margin), Beyonce's got an unbelievable amount of hits along with the fact her current album work is the best she's had. Factoring everything; longevity, album sales, hit singles, live shows...she's clearly the biggest pop star in the world no contest.

Solange always had an aesthetic, but this is the first time her music matches what she's been trying to do (not to say her past stuff wasn't bad, but this is a clear level up in terms of quality)

However who do I prefer personally? Solange like a mile. Crazy artsy women are my Achilles heel, lol

In 2017, 100% Solange. I don't think any of Beyonce's work in the last 5 years (anything after '4') has been anything more than decent backed by unbelievable amount of hype.

Seat At The Table was a genuinely great and interesting album.

Beyonce is crazy talented. She's a great singer and a monster of a performer.

But i feel like the more recent inspirations for her music are beneath her. Simply cannot get past her whole "I'm a bad bitch, i slay" phase.

I guess it's more for her fans than it is for her personally, but still.

A seat at the table was better than lemonade. So Solange.

havent listened to lemonade since it's not on Apple
I find it incredibly frustrating how hard it is to casually listen to Lemonade. It's not on Spotify, it's not on Apple Music, it's not on YouTube except in the form of bad live recordings or bloated music videos where you watch 2 minutes of video before the music starts. Sure, it's on Tidal, but the whole idea of casual listening is to see if it's worth your money before paying money to listen to it.

For me there's always something super off with Beyoncé's songs. Like the way the lyrics go and the way the music goes doesn't match up and it sounds off to me. I dunno, I don't like it. I think she sings really well though. Haven't heard a Solange song yet.

I feel like other than formation nothing on lemonade is like that.
