Who will buy Zelda BOTW WiiU ?

What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

I'm getting it for Wii U. Don't plan on getting a Switch this year. I'll see where Nintendo is at in 2018.

The game is not technically impressive (it's artistically impressive) so getting the Switch version for the subtle improvement doesn't really mean much.

I plan to play Zelda on launch day.

I do not plan on buying a switch until a massive price drop and the library improves. So it follows that I will purchase Zelda on the Wii U.

People keep saying this but aren't there like only a few games that you can currently even complete on CEMU? Isn't it still fairly buggy? Just curious what makes people think BOTW is going to be playable on it in any satisfying state.

It's still fairly buggy but there's been a lot of legwork in the last few weeks on titles that weren't running. Currently on 1.7.0 but here's a compat list updated through the previous big release 1.6. It's progressing fast, so im sure the top values will begin to shift by the time March arrives. I may not be playing BotW in 4K on day 1, but i'll happily wait a couple of weeks.

Not seeing a $400 worth of difference here, sadly.

Besides the Wii U pic will be fixed in CEMU.

Well that's encouraging, thanks for the info!

Bought a Wii U when Xenoblade came out and after playing that and mario it has sat there unplayed. Don't want to spend 300 on an overpriced system right now so I'll be good with Wii U version.

With probably more reports like this one, I think it's a no brainer to get the Wii U version, not getting a console for keeping to pay online, since internet is kinda expensive here anyway.
EDIT: Unless the Switch online features, includes a internet connection that is.
Man, I actually would love it if the Wii U version turned out to be a better experience. Even more reason to skip the switch this year.

I would if I had a Wii U.

Hell, if change heart on Switch and Wii U's get affordable instead of more expensive, I might just end up in that boat. I suspect Wii U owners who don't immediately upgrade to Switch probably will too.

I will buy the Wii U version, I'll probably even buy it new because I don't have to boycott Nintendo any more since it releases on the same day as the Switch

But when they drop the price of the Switch to $200 during the holidays, then I'm saving money by waiting.

Totally, you are absolutely right. Honestly if you have a Wii U already the smart thing to do is wait for the Switch to have games you want before buying (preferably at a discount).

I just don't get the logic of people throwing around "$360 to play Zelda" as if no other games will ever come out if you are an early adopter. Seems short sighted.

Are people really expecting this? I know that CEMU has been progressing nicely but do we expect Zelda to be smooth and jank free on launch day? Not to mention being able to decrypt the disk?

There's nothing to decrypt, the WiiU has been blown wide open for some time, hell you can install homebrew on the newest firmwire without issue.

They didn't do a good job at assuring you you'd have such a great line up, and after Wii and WiiU, that can't really be just assumed anymore.

I dunno about that. Mario, FE warriors, Xeno 2, the next SMT game.. I feel pretty assured that the library will turn out to be pretty great.

Probably won't be very playable on launch day but I'm sure it will be running very well in a couple of months after release, I can wait.

Mario and Xeno were the only two things they showed something of, of those.
The others could be literal YEARS down the road, SMT in particular could be Death Stranding levels of "away".

Haha, are there actually more reports like this one? Holy shit. Where's the Switch Defense Force?

Well, yeah, I guess I made the right choice canceling my Switch prebook.
