DF: Zelda BOTW & TOTK (Nintendo Switch 2) Review

Brother, just because 8k is better than 4k doesn't mean 4k can't be great

You are choosing to adopt such a weird point of view. That's like saying having sex with a supermodel isn't great because hotter women exist.
Great is a meaningful word when doing an objective analyze. If 1440p with crap AA is great what is 4k+ with better AA??

More like 1440p is more than good enough for most people, who happen to not have TVs the size of a wall.

It's a console, after all.

Wait a second....you guys are trying to tell me that a PC running this game with mods on expensive PC hardware looks better than the version that runs on a $450 handheld?!?!

I have only tried out TOTK so far, but it's a pretty solid upgrade. The main issue (on a technical level) I had with the game was the inconsistent framerate which seems to be rock solid now.

both people who keep arguing this happen to live in Brazil. I really think it's an education/language issue at this point

Up until a few posts ago, he didn't realize that great is a spectrum and that something can be great and something else can be greater

Can't wait to get back to TOTK. I got around halfway through when it first released, life stuff happened, then Switch 2 was announced. Maybe after DK Bananza I can jump back in.

It's unfair to judge the lack of AA in Nintendo games as this is often a graphical feature.

I'm having fun with botw, but its only impressive when compared to the underwhelming Switch 1 version.

I would argue CDPR got more out the Switch 1 and Switch 2 with Witcher and Cyberpunk than Nintendo themselves. They need to do better at a technical level imo

Of course anything on PC will surpass consoles version, but this is a case where it's not a clear winner, as the game have way higher res textures than what you can get by emulating Switch 1 version on PC so you would still miss that and, believe me, the newer textures are just as important as the improved resolution and frame rate for the Switch 2 version looking so good
Read my comment again, I'm not talking about emulation, I'm talking about development: this level of scaling, including textures, is typical of a standard PC release. As a paid port, they could have made amendments and optimisations at the code level to improve things like shadow and object pop-in and image stability. They didn't, they put the same code on more powerful hardware and scaled it accordingly, much as you can do with a standard PC release. That to me is cash-grabby.

Yeah, maybe it is, but we don't care, it's now finally good enough and we're happy with it.

I never care about the "could have been more" if things reach the good enough status for me so it's ok, if they didn't implement DLSS they would not do anything too deep in graphics anyway so as long as 60 fps and decent resolution are in place I'm good.

lol at people thinking the PS3 could have handled BOTW anywhere near as well as the Wii U.

256mb of RAM with those physics and that seamless overworld just would not work.
