What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

Is the Wii U version also March the 3rd?

They'd probably sell a lot more Switches if the Wii U version didn't come out on the same day.

I'm going to buy it for Wii U.

I'll be waiting until Mario releases to make a possible Switch purchase. I need to see how everything shakes out leading up to the holidays. I'm guessing we'll also see some sort of bundle for the holidays as well.
That's what I'll be doing, as well.

Yep, same day.

And yeah, I've been wondering if they eitger delayed or straight up cancelled the Wii U veesion how thinfs would go. Fans would hate them, but they'll sell even more Switches (though I'm guessing they'll sell out at launch anyway).

I'm going to be holding off on Switch for the time being and just buy it for the Wii U because the the launch lineup looks terrible for the Switch.

But let's remember that the video shows the E3 build of the Wii U version.

Expect improvements.

Yep fair enough. I hope the colours get reworked on the Wii U version if its just a minor technical thing and not a performance thing.

1) The colours of the trees are way nicer on the Switch version when it pans out towards the end of that video.

2) Link's body colours are better on the Switch.

If I had a Wii U I wouldn't even consider buying a Switch at this point. The lack of an appreciable visual/performance upgrade for BOTW Switch has soured me on the system more than anything. It being overpriced and having a mediocre battery makes things that much worse. Don't know what to do. I have a preorder on lock which I may cancel or not depending on my mood.

I'm going to buy the Wii U version. I believe you need the Bluray to actually run it in the CEMU Emulator, and with the crazy amounts of progress they've made, I can't wait to run this game in 4K :).

It kind of sucks though because I'm buying the Wii U version and I'll most likely also buy the Switch version for the special edition. Something tells me the Wii U version will be a collectible item in the coming years though.

Considering how many of us here are saying we're buying the WU version instead, I'm guessing you're wrong, or maybe there won't be enough copies lol

I wasn't around GAF at the time, but was there much thirst for the GCN version of Twilight Princess? And if there was, was it only because people couldn't buy a Wii?

It was the better version.

Since I've never owned a Wii U this is a pretty hard decision for me. Cheapest price on eBay is $200 refurbished but I don't really want to play anything else on the Wii U besides maybe Twilight Princess HD and Bayonetta... I'm more excited for the Mario Kart 8 remaster since I never played it, and Mario Odyssey. The Wii/Wii U Mario games don't really look all that compelling to me unless someone here can sell me on 'em.

I feel like as much as I hate a lot of things about the Switch, I'm better off just getting one since I've never touched MK8 or Splatoon before and the Switch versions of both of them look pretty good for newcomers.

yup, getting the Wii U version instead. The Switch release conference/video was a disaster. I don't think they could have made a worse start to a consoles life, what looked a sure hit now has flop written all over it.

I really hope that most of the Wii U owners who are Zelda fans and aren't planning to get a launch Switch will pick it up as their swan song for the system. They've clearly worked on it for a long time and it's worth the time and money for those players.

If Nintendo had, say, released the Wii U version earlier than the Switch version, I wouldn't have hesitated to go Wii U. But since I'm an early adopter, I had to go with the Switch version.

My launch Wii U console has been very good to me with zero issues, as have all three of my 3DS systems (all launch day versions for their respective iterations), so I have no reservations jumping on from day 1.

I was surprised that they're going to have a simultaneous release, because I'm pretty sure the Gamecube version was like... a month later or something compared to the Wii version (it was a launch game, wasn't it?)

Yeah, Nintendo systems have been good to me too, in the past and I think they're usually built to last really well. The only problems I can remember are I've had with Nintendo consoles is 2 GameCubes where the disc drive died and I guess the NES' ZiF connector. I didn't have my Wii U at launch though, so I'm not sure how bad that OS stuff was.

Wiki says the GC version hit a week before the Wii in NA, and vice versa in EU. I assume that's right as I remember picking up the GameCube version during the Wii launch hysteria in 2006. Nobody else was buying it for GameCube, but hype levels were through the roof for the Wii.

Wait, where are you seeing that on wiki? Im seeing it coming to GCN after Wii on wiki, for NA. I always remembered it launching later on GCN since that's what I got it for (first Christmas present from my then-girlfriend now-wife 😁).

I'm getting it on Wii U. I have been unimpressed with the Switch since the reveal and that conference did nothing to change my mind. I'll preload the eshop version so I can play on launch day and I'll probably take that day off work.

I will. $80 for a brand new Zelda game vs the nearly $650 CAD I would have to spend for the console, game and peripherals if I wanted to get the Switch version. Sure the draw distance may be better, but its not worth half a thousand dollars.

This is the only reason why i will also buy the wii u version when a vr mod gets added i will buy a good pc get a vr headset and take a few weeks of from normal life lol.

Do not expect Nintendo to go out of their way to change the narrative that WiiU version looks a lot worse. I fully expect the WiiU version to look and run beautifully, Miyamoto would want nothing less, but having the optics that the Switch is a vastly better version is likely quite alright with Nintendo.

What the hell, why is the lighting/color so significantly different? System power should have nothing to do with that.

Likely a bad capture. Lots of WiiU games look worse in video than in reality at home, has to do with LimitedRBG or something other have said.

As Parapraxis said likely a bad capture and it has been a long while since E3 2016 so many changes will have been made since then.

I am! I don't plan on buying a switch anytime soon due to pricing and platform uncertainty. I'll let the market decide if the console succeeds then make a decision. In the meantime, I played BOTW at E3 last year on an early build on a Wii U and liked it then!

SOLD!

I'll buy both versions of the game since I did regret not getting the gamecube version of Twilight Princess years later. Well, it was mirrored and had button controls, so content was different that time. Doubt BOTW versions will be any different, but I need the WiiU version just for the sake of owning the game for the console that it was originally meant to be played on. Will buy the switch version to have it on the go.

I changed my mind. Zelda on Switch is irresistible.
Plus after reflexion, all Nintendo output going to that platform is guaranteed, even if there's a 3DS successor, its games will be Switch compatible.

Im getting tired of this game being treated as lesser because its on Switch AND Wii U. from all the comments that hoped they cancel the Wii U version,to the ones thinking nobody was going to buy it on Wii U,the ones pointing to sales,to even Eurogamer mentioning the game is somehow less appealing for being multiplatform.

BOTW deserves its place on both the Wii U and Switch libraries, fuck the haters

I won't. But I won't play the game on Switch day one neither. I will wait until the Switch has a lower price (likely during holidays) and play it at that moment. I can wait, if it's for the better version.

The thing is in context it is the only game the Switch has that's any "big" at launch, so therefore it not actually being an exclusive places it under more scrutiny. It needed to have some pretty major upgrades to get over that fact and that doesn't seem to be the case.

I undersand this but its on Nintendo for having anything else on launch or close (ARMS?).

If you are a Wii U owner, then the Switch might not be for you until fall when more games come out for it,but you wont be missing Zelda. its OK to wait ,If you are a Switch owner you have one of the biggest adventure games of the year portable. Doesn't matter if its on other system people enjoy.

I think Nintendo did the best possible considering they announced Zelda for the Wii U

Leaning towards wii U. It's silly but I like looking at funny/crazy miiverse pictures people take especially while playing wind waker HD and since the switch doesn't seem to have it....
