This is a bit of a mischaracterisation of what he was saying, though. His point wasn't "let's stop listening to doctors and scientists", it was that all those 3-letter economic institutions kept getting their predictions wrong and people were sick of being told what's good for them by these people that kept fucking up. Arguably still not wise, but that sentiment has now been charactitured into "hur dur we don't need clever people".
Michael Gove has refused to name any economists who back Britains exit from the European Union, saying that people in this country have had enough of experts.
Like Mr Cameron, Mr Gove faced intense scrutiny of his campaign tactics, in particular the claim that the UK sends £350m to the EU every week.
Skys political editor Faisal Islam said Mr Gove knew that figure was wrong, and accused him of importing the post-truth politics of Donald Trump to the UK. The UK Statistics Authority has said the figure is misleading and undermines trust in official statistics, because it is a gross sum and does not account for Britains rebate and funding received from the EU. In response to Mr Islam, Mr Gove agreed to have the figure independently audited.
Mr Gove opted not to name them, however, preferring to focus on how economists and economic organisations had failed to predict the financial crisis. Im not asking the public to trust me. Im asking them to trust themselves, he said. When it was pointed out that he had called the Iraq war "a proper British foreign policy success" as late as 2008, he argued he was willing to admit his mistakes.
FAISAL ISLAM: Mr Gove, youre a man with a dream, exactly how many independent economic authorities share your dream of Britain outside the EU, can you name a single one?
MICHAEL GOVE: Well if you are talking about some of the independent economic authorities who have already weighed into the debate, they are people who have been wrong in the past. They are organisations Im afraid who didnt predict the global crash in 2008 and they are the same organisations in many cases that also said we should be inside the single currency.
FI: That was some time ago, can you name a single one?
MICHAEL GOVE: Well my point is that Im glad that all these organisations are not on my side, Im glad
FI: Youre glad that economic experts arent on your side?
MICHAEL GOVE: Well Margaret Thatcher said of economists, the great thing is economists are fine but you mustnt inhale. The truth is that I prefer, I prefer to take the view of business people who are actually generating jobs and creating wealth. The organisations that many people are citing in this debate are organisations that have been wrong in the past and I think that they are wrong now. In any case
FI: But not a single independent economic authority, not a single one, you must have one.
MICHAEL GOVE: There are economists and there are business people who do back us, there are 300 business people who put their names to a letter in the Daily Telegraph.
MICHAEL GOVE: Well putting aside Douglas Carswells book, which Im sure is very good, the key thing is that of those 300 business people you had some real business leaders who have been making a huge difference
FI: A minority you would admit.
MICHAEL GOVE: No
FI: You dont admit a minority?
FI: Okay, so you cant name an economic authority, you are struggling to name more than a handful of economists, can you name a single one of our international allies, the countries weve gone into battle with, who support you?
MICHAEL GOVE: Well one of the things about some of the leaders of foreign countries is that they would never accept
FI: Can you name a single one?
FI: But lets just look at this now, the leaders of the US, India, China, Australia, every single one of our allies, the Bank of England, the IFS, the IMF, the CBI, five former NATO Secretary-Generals, the Chief Exec of the NHS and most of the leaders of the trade unions in Britain all say that you, Boris and Nigel are wrong. Why should the public trust you over them?
MICHAEL GOVE: Im not asking the public to trust me, Im asking the public to trust themselves. Im asking the British public to take back control of our destiny from those organisations which are distant, unaccountable, elitists and dont have their own interests at heart.
FI: Elitist? Elitist? The Lord High Chancellor, a conspiracy of elites? It sounds like Wolf Hall.
MICHAEL GOVE: Well I havent seen Wolf Hall but the one thing that I would say is that the people who are backing the Remain campaign are people who have done very well thank you out of the European Union and the people increasingly [Applause] absolutely. The people who are arguing that we should get out are concerned to ensure that the working people of this country at last get a fair deal. I think the people of this country have had enough of experts with organisations from acronyms saying that
FI: The people of this country have had enough of experts, what do you mean by that?
MICHAEL GOVE: from organisations with acronyms saying that they know what is best and getting it consistently wrong because these people
FI: The people of this country have had enough of experts?
MICHAEL GOVE: Because these people are the same ones who have got consistently wrong
FI: This is [inaudible] politics this isnt it? This is Oxbridge Trump.
MICHAEL GOVE: No, its a faith, Faisal, in the British people to make the right decision.
FI: Blind faith.
MICHAEL GOVE: I dont think it is because one of the striking things about this debate is that those who are arguing that we should remain have a vested financial interest in
FI: Ah right, so are they stupid or is there a conspiracy? Theres a conspiracy.
MICHAEL GOVE: No, Im pointing out that the majority of people in this country are suffering as a result of our membership of the European Union, their wages are lower, access to public services is restricted
FI: The majority of people? The majority of people, 33 million people? Whats your factual basis for that claim that 33 million people are suffering from EU membership? [Applause] You complain about the other sides figures, what is your factual basis to say the majority of people in this country are suffering from EU membership? You dont have it do you?
MICHAEL GOVE: Well I know myself from my own background, I know that the European Union depresses employment and destroys jobs. My father had a fishing business in Aberdeen destroyed by the European Union and the Common Fisheries Policy, the European Union
FI: Thats one person.
MICHAEL GOVE: The European Union has hollowed out communities across this country and it has also contributed to lower salaries for working people and it has also ensured that young people in this country dont have the opportunities to get the entry level jobs that we heard about last night. Now you can say that their concerns dont matter
FI: I didnt say that, I didnt say that, I didnt disagree. I said give me an example, you claimed that your father was an example
MICHAEL GOVE: You were dismissing my fathers example, you were dismissing the concerns of working people. You are on the side, Faisal, of the elites, Im on the side of the people. [Applause]
FI: You said the majority, you the Lord High Chancellor said a majority of the British public were suffering from the EU. You have no factual evidence for that whatsoever.

Worked out well enough for ol' Gaius Julius Ceasar. And I could see McConnel and a few other Senators actually physically stabbing him in the back when things start to fall apart. It's really insufferable that he refers to himself in the third person. I mean, what more obvious sign of a narcissist?
It is like he doesn't understand the difference between migrant workers and refugees? Also maybe regurgitating the bullshit Farage fed him with."Countries want their own identity and the UK wanted its own identity, but I do think if they hadn't been forced to take in all of the refugees than you wouldn't have a Brexit."
What can Trump offer UK in a deal that helps offset the damage leaving the EU will cause?
serious question, I want to know if the US can help UK succeed after leaving the EU.
He sees the EU as an obstacle. He's going to try and splinter EU members.
He means it's doing great for rich, white males. Just like what he means about making America great again. No one else matters to him.
reduce tariffs for the UK, increase tariffs for the EU just like BMW
reduce tariffs for the UK, increase tariffs for the EU just like BMW
How the fuck would Donald Trump know how the UK is doing?
reduce tariffs for the UK, increase tariffs for the EU just like BMW
This man has made me question why the role of US president even exists. Why should one person have so much power and influence over world affairs?
He doesn't, really. I think he actually 'thinks' he's the boss, so to speak. This man has made me question why the role of US president even exists. Why should one person have so much power and influence over world affairs?
BBC said:Mr Trump also talked about the recent dip in the value of the pound.
"The fact that your pound sterling has gone down? Great," he said, "because business is unbelievable in a lot of parts in the UK, as you know. I think Brexit is going to end up being a great thing."
Forget about Toberlone's, the Freddo bar is going to cost 30p now. THIRTY PENCE. Here's a graph to show to it.

May should resign on this alone.
In reality, he doesn't. True power lies in Congress.
I am really scared we are just going to give a deal away that's going to be terrible for this country. This government is full of pretenders and idiots.
Going by Trump's rhetoric, I'd expect it to be on better terms than the widely opposed US-EU TPP deal.
"Trump said Brexit is going to happen, and it happened. Everybody thought I was crazy," the president-elect continued.
Is he referring to himself in third person here
Can you please put this dumb shit in the OP
You fucking moron. It's great for nobody. Get the fuck out of our country, we should build wind farms along all his investments.
HA! Yes, I realised that and edited quickly, but you obviously took your time to reply to the quote, which is sensibleErr.
The TPP stands for Trans Pacific Partnership.
If you're thinking of TTIP, then the UK can have it, they were the ones pushing for it in the EU.

Well, trade deals do not get done in five days. And he has no idea what he is talking about. These next few years are going to be interesting.
