Does this work with this wii u emulator if I have a disk drive ?

Would buy a copy if so.
(also kinda off topic but I have a copy of wind waker, can I play this on the emu?)

You can backup your games over your local network directly from the Wii U so I hear

How does preordering change anything? You have the same money yesterday or tomorrow.
Because pre-ordering during E3 can give big discounts sometimes (and you don't pay until the game ships anyways). Depending on the discount and subsequent promos, you can get some games for 50% or less at launch.

Getting it for the Wii U to play it asap without dropping a ton on a switch Then when the switch gets a price drop or a good bundle for Black Friday ill pick it up with that as well.

“We realized that having something on the GamePad and looking back and forth between the TV screen and the GamePad actually disrupts the gameplay,

These guys would make the worst lawyers. Between this and Reggie's defense for having Game chat be a smartphone app as opposed to a console app (no more clunky "gamer" headsets) I've never seen such mental gymnastics to defend a product's flaw.

This was like the entire basis of Nintendo's marketing. In fact, there already exists Zelda games on the Wii U that use the second screen and it turns out speculation isn't necessary; I think many gamers consider having all the menu information on a second screen is preferable to frequent pauses.

Not that I really care, I'll be using the Pro controller. It just bugged me seeing an employee of Nintendo saying that a second screen is distracting for a Wii U game.

It definitely was, though that was more because it mitigated the terrible item-swapping mechanics in Wind Waker, rather than the result of the gamepad being a good controller

There's even more inventory to deal with now that's a full blown rpg, so it'd be even more useful that it would have been in previous zeldas.

Yup I agree 1000%. This statement is ridiculous and invalidates basically the entire point of the Wii U.

It's actually a bit insulting that they would even say that. Just say "we wanted the same experience on both systems" period.

This actually bothers me a lot lol.

Oh crap I didn't even consider that they might not have touchscreen inventory management on the Wii U version. That's a bummer.

I have a Switch pre-order but more and more I feel it might be dumb to get one at launch. Maybe I should pre-order Wii U Zelda in case it ends up rare like Gamecube Twilight Princess.

Why would they get rid of that second screen feature? So silly. I'm playing Wind Waker at the moment and the tablet screen isn't distracting at all, it's nice to have all your items and the map there.

For me its a no brainer. I can play the biggest title of a brand new console's release without having to buy said console?

Of course I'm getting the Wii U version.

I'm really hoping that they didn't actually get rid of it and there's still a little bit in the game still when it releases.

Yeah, looking back and forth can be a distraction I guess, but I'd think just looking down to switch weapons or if I was looking at a map way less distracting then pausing the game too often just to do the same.

I was trying to get a Switch pre-order in for a brief while, but I think I'm back to holding off now. I'll just get it when a Zelda-branded one gets released

My guess is the primary reason is to not have a feature on the old console (Wii U), that isn't on the new console (Switch).
This makes total sense on why they'd do it, by my wish is that they're just not marketing it, and it's still in there since they already showed the gamepad used as a map.

There might be a tiny benefit processing-wise from abandoning the Gamepad screen, but I doubt that had anything to do with the decision.

not even a special edition for Wii U it's fucking disappointing to hear

That's not surprising at all to me. They don't wanna be dicks and cancel the Wii U version to begin with, but stuff like the special and master edition help to entice people to just go for the Switch version instead. If they did it for the Wii U as well, then that'd be another incentive for people to just stick to playing it on the Wii U.

If it works well on CEMU I will definitely get it for Wii U. I really want to play it but don't think I'll be getting a Switch.

Running a higher resolution on PC would be really great I think.

I will. To play it at 4k in CEMU.

Seeing how the Switch version is not 1080p and has the smudge filter all over, I'm not even sure I will pick it. Might double dip though.

Same here. My son can play it on Wii U and I'll play it on Cemu.
Switch pricing is a joke

Me! Right after I finish LttP, Ocarina and Link's Awakening DX.

I'll do the same thing I did for Twilight Princess. I bought it for the GameCube, so I'll buy BotW for the Wii U. Already have the hardware and I don't mind the "lesser" graphics.

I'm seriously considering double dipping and get both versions. Just to round out my Wii U library.

I don't mean this confrontationally, but I just don't understand this mindset at all. What are you getting out of owning a second copy, especially a lesser one if you're getting it on Switch? You're happy to pay £40 (or the US equivalent - $50?) just to round out your Wii U library?

Anyway, anyone found a good price or deal on this in the UK yet? Quido have a 5.5% return for Gameseek at the moment, who have the game at £39.75. It's only about £2 back, but the best I've dug up to date. Am Flubit-ing to see if that comes up with anything, although it can a while before the site offers anything better than 1-2% discounts. Fingers crossed.

The Switch's pricing means I'll wait for a price drop, so I'm considering the Wii U version.

Will have to wait and see how the framerate is first, though. That, plus impressions about whether the game is good or not.

The more I hear about the Switch, the less likely I am to buy one at launch. So I'll be enjoying Zelda on my Wii U I think, at least it's mostly the same experience. And with Miiverse support and a great battery life when playing on the gamepad! 720p I can cope with, which seems to be the main difference.

I'm getting the Wii U version. There's a few mildly interesting Switch titles coming out this year, but nothing system seller caliber until Mario. Plus, some of the recent Switch revelations have me a bit unimpressed/frustrated with it (and Nintendo) at the moment. Also, considering that the differences between the two versions seem mostly negligible, there isn't a compelling reason to pick up a Switch for Zelda.

I'm going to wait for a good bundle or deal - black Friday possibly - and get a switch next holiday.

I honestly think I'm going to double dip. Yeah, it's dumb, but whatever. It'll be cool to have The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Breath of the Wild all on one system and it'll make a nice sendoff for my Wii U.

Depends on final build performance tests for me, but paying 460 out the door in Canada for a Switch isn't that appealing to me right now. I thought getting a used Wii U just for Zelda may be it, but so far used prices of those are keeping pretty high as well around here, maybe that'll change when the Switch launches.

I own a wii u and I won't buy it. I plan to buy the switch with

zelda
binding of isaac
splatoon

whenever it is that splatoon is available and switches are readily available here in NL. apparently delivery 2 is still possible.

I am. Not getting a Switch at launch to play 1 game and abanon it till December when they decide to release something else.
