I've never seen a full episode, I think I was 12 or 13 when it was popular so I guess I was too old. But that seems like a good update on the franchise as I remember it. I wouldn't watch it but I can imagine old fans of the series and kids getting into it.

It seemed like the pad part was only the initial morph. At one point it looks like the pink ranger opens up some sort of communicator or whatever the thing was called they put the coins in.

Yup, 1 minute in and i thought the same thing.

But the whole trailer looked ... amazingly ... not bad.
Not as bad as the pre-production shots made it look like.

Alpha 5 looks okay. Goldar looks okay. Zordon looks kinda neat. The CGI Zords look shitty though.

It's got the kind of "gritty realism" yet "not all super self serious" balance that i could totally see working.

When that Megazord punches Goldar i got Pacific Rim vibes.

As someone with absolutely no nostalgia for the Power Rangers, this looks bad. I had a very similar reaction to this as I did to the new Fantastic 4 trailers. Generic, bland, heavy on mediocre CGI (and I'm not a guy who complains about CGI in every movie, it's just not good here).

Again, though, this probably isn't made for people like me.

Well.. I was worried with the Alpha 5 design, and the suits. But Damn it, if I did not sit here with the biggest damn smile on my face during the last half the trailer.
