what jrpg are you playing right now ?

I was playing Pokemon Y. It was good. Honestly Pokemon is the the closest thing to a JRPG that ice played. Was gonna pick up either FFIV or Chrono Trigger. Any opinions?

Finished Trails of Cold Steel II

Currently playing:
I am Setsuna
YS IV: Memories of Celceta
World of Final Fantasy

Sadly that's all going to be put off when Gravity Rush 2 comes out!

Who's Ice? Both are awesome. Chrono Trigger is considered one of the best games of all time by most who have played it.

What made you decide to go with FFIV over all FFs?

Chrono Trigger is the ideal JRPG for beginners and also a fantastic game, definitely get that.

Finally dusted off Grandia II. That last 10 hours was no fun. Story goes to shit and the
boss rush, followed by a weakass final boss
soured me greatly. The spell animations are way too long. I stopped using the critical attacks and the cancel system in general after 5 hours into the game. Great battle system grafted onto a truly boring game. Graphics are charming as hell though.

Halfway into Parasite Eve. Inventory management is a pain. Hoping to finish that so I can get into some comforting stuff like Dragon Quest IV.

Grandia 1 was exactly the same way. Haven't played part 2 but I'm not surprised. I don't know why people give the Grandia series a pass for its long spell animations.

Hope it's the IOS version.

GIII (Haven't played Xtreme yet) was the only one when I basically bothered with the cancel system, both GI and GII were way too easy and I recall stuff dying asap with the right spells.

Quit Tales of Xillia 7 hours in because I hate it. The information overload and anxiety I got every time I found a tutorial monolith was making me miserable. Not to mention the battles felt like a hectic mess. I need to accept that I really dislike Tales combat. I actually wouldn't mind if they had single character or maybe duo combat because my mind just can't focus on so many characters running around and blasting stuff. I mean, I can win fights and all but I just ever feel like I have a true grasp on what I'm doing. Not gonna be fooled by Beresia. I don't mind noncontrollable party in FF XIII or Xenoblade so it's really just Tales and Star Ocean.

Also Wild Arms 3 on PS4 and I am loving it. Good solid turn based combat and an interesting story. Glad they patched it since I last played it.

Taking a break from the last part of WoFF to begin playing DQVIII. Dragon Warrior Monsters and Builders are the only DQ games that have hooked me. Hope to finish a mainline game for once.

Jade cocoon (One of my favorite games of all time) and World of final fantasy.

Finished Bravely Second. Core gameplay remains fantastic. But jesus the story if anything is even worse than Defaults. Too much focus given on trying to be clever, 4th wall breaking "we gotcha" type moments. One of them is genuinely cool but it gets obnoxious very quickly.

The localisation and conversation are good and can be very funny but it feels really banal after 20 hours or so. The characters are also a step down from Defaults.

Its an okay game overall. It's still fun to experiment and break the game through mixing different jobs even though it's not really necessary since the hourglass ZA WORLDO breaks the game in every situation anyway lol.

There is a tease for a third game...but im out at this point. Especially if they just lazily re-use the same map and assets over again,

You're still going to play it right? Those games would run on a toaster.

Ill make more of an effort than most but i generally loath playing rpgs on PC.

Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness for the first time on Vita.
FFX-2 remaster on Vita
Xenogears for the first time on Vita
Ys Memories of Celceta for the first time on Vita
Front Mission 3 on Vita
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on Vita/ps3
Atelier Sophie on Vita. First Atelier game ever.
Final Fantasy XV on ps4 pro

I'm a madman

TiTS:SC Still in the Prologue with Analece and Astelle.

Persona 3 Portable first time, is it OK to play the female route? I always choose females when I can but it says that male is closest to original P3 'experience'.

I just recently finished a replay of Chrono Trigger, this time on my 3DS and am now about 50 hours into Xenoblade. It is a very good game but I'll be damned if those constant side quests don't drag me down a bit.

I'm on Chapter 3 of Trails in the Sky: SC. I got distracted by re-subbing to FFXIV though. I'm finally caught up on the MSQ - it's gotten really good! I'm pumped for the final part of 3.5 & Stormblood.

Returned to Trails of Cold Steel II after playing a bit of Ace Attorney 6. I think I'm making good progress. I finished a string of side quests and I'm more than halfway through Act 2 now I believe.

The guy route is the official cannon of sorts ie its the one the spin-offs will always recognize. But i think the differences are negligible enough.

The social links with the guys are way better in the female route too.

Blue Dragon. I'm glad I gave this another shot, because I had a "meh" impression of it when it first came out (despite buying it). The performance improvement on XB1 is still a standout. I've gotten as far as disc 3, and some of the darker story bits really round things out like you might not expect from the Toriyama art..

well since the male route has no sls with the male party members, so its hard to be worse than nothing

About 20 hours into P3P, at September 24 in-game and playing as the male MC. Thinking I might drop it honestly. Persona 4 is one of my all-time favorites, so I was excited to try its predecessor, especially hearing that this game had a darker tone that sounded right up my alley.

Unfortunately, I'm not really liking P3P so far, despite really wanting to... The game just feels a bit lifeless to me. I don't feel any kind of bond with the characters so far apart from Koromaru (Aegis is ok too though). Tartarus gets pretty stale after a while, and the social links seem far less interesting than in Persona 4. Does it pick up or is Persona 3 just not for me?

should have played femc, i feel the social links with the femc are alot better than the male social links

I got a $50 eShop gift card for my birthday so I decided to get Xenoblade Chronicles for my N3DS. I actually bought it for the Wii but never got around to playing it and now it's sitting as a factory sealed collector's item.

I'm about 2 hours in and liking it so far. There seems to be a lot to learn about the game mechanics but I'm hoping to get the hang of it as I go on. I have died a few times though at the start which is uncharacteristic. Not being able to control my party and having limited healing is a bit different from what I'm used to.

Finishing off World of Final Fantasy. It's a wonderful relaxing game full of fan service. Lann doing the Tidus laugh killed me XD

Ah ok. I wish I had known that before starting; I considered looking up which MC was better but was worried about seeing spoilers and went with the male MC because the game said it's the best one for newcomers. Oh well, maybe someday I'll come back to it and restart the game as the FeMC.

Finished Parasite Eve. Had to beat the final boss 3 times due to the
escape sequence because you die instantly if it touches you as it lurches towards you
. Anyways, is EX mode essential? I've heard all about the Chrysler Building but I'm not into min-maxing my way towards
the real ending
. Thinking I'm done with this game and should focus on DQIV instead.

No real reason, this late in the game. I have done the entire Building twice, but it is honestly too long, with little payoff. No new cg sequences, or anything. Just youtube the ending and move on.

Yeah I was leaning that way. Thanks for confirming. It seems like pretty cool post-game content and I'm sure I'd love it back in the day. Too bad the normal game wasn't rigorous enough to test my weapon load out.

Good choice. Greatest JRPG of all time. I think the 3DS version is great, having this game portable is perfect.

Pro tip: Switch your main character often, it'll keep the combat feeling fresh and you won't get too burnt out.

Just finished Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. Kind of want to just push straight through to Origins now, but also kind of want to change things up.

Playing Final Fantasy X HD.
Just reached Bevelle's Cloister of Trials. Man I like the design but these temples are always kinda tedious. Still don't get what the different sphere types do.

I'm loving the cast. I also love the whole Yevon stuff, especially that prayer gesture. It all feels really fascinating. Best moment so far is Yuna performing the Sending in Kilika. That whole cutscene was amazing.

I wish there was more interaction among party members. Whenever they talk or there's a cutscene, it's almost always due to forwarding the plot. There should be more scenes like talking with Lulu on the jet ski machina (before going into Guadosalam), about the characters and their pasts. Hell, just scenes of spending peaceful time together during their journey would be very fulfilling. Though I guess that isn't very likely seeing as the game's ramped up and is focusing on Seymour and Yuna now.

Amazing game.
