Horizon Zero Dawn - Preview Thread [Up: All Previews Live]

Is this cutscene real? Jesus Christ, my anticipation for this game has dropped like a stone.
I'm not gonna lie i'm genuinely uncomfortable with how much of a poor depiction this is when it comes to people with mental illness. It just gets so many things wrong and then the player literally has the option to tell someone who's mentally ill to kill himself. :| I'm liking a lot of what i'm hearing and seeing about this game today but this is some straight up "wtf were they thinking" tier shit writing.

I'm still not entirely sold on this, but at least it looks nice.

It's cool to make your game map as big as it can possibly be, but I hope Guerilla hasn't forgotten that there needs to be actual stuff to do in all that landmass. Otherwise it's just empty fluff.
It was actually even bigger and they cut down on it for that reason.

From what they show so far they place look rather pack with stuff so far .

I don't want to bring too much negativity to this thread, but watching the Kinda Funny video, it's really not for me.

It just looks incredibly derivative. It's AAA Open World: The Game.

It looks absolutely amazing, the graphics and art direction are mind blowing, it's such a beautifully realized world, but every new element of game design they showed just increased this feeling of "I've played this game before". And, honestly, I never really liked it that much.

It's been a while since I last played an Ubisoft game, but it's my understanding that Watch Dogs 2 doesn't have ubitower stuff, right? Assassin's Creed is nowhere to be seen so far. Other devs are outubisofting Ubisoft.

Even things Miller was excited about left me thinking that it was terribly bland. It has moral choices, but, like, in shades of gray! It's not black and white like Mass Effect! Is this seriously still a selling point? In fact, it's become so standard and expected that I actually find it refreshing when choices are handled in a cartoony and binary way nowadays.

Don't mind me, though, I'm not the biggest fan of Witcher 3 either, and it's many people's GOAT, so the fact that I'm thinking this looks terrible is probably a great sign for people who are into these games. I just thought it could be for me after the last trailer, but I guess it's not.

That makes me wonder... Did GG say anything about the possibility of making "renegade" choices and their consequences?

Does Far Cry Primal have dungeons with puzzle solving, platforming, and boss fights?

Primal doesn't have any of those things, but I hesitate to call what they have in Horizon "platforming" so much as platform magnetization (Consistent Jump arcs are a vital component of Platforming). We also don't have any info on puzzles and puzzle mechanics and we should be skeptical because they'll more than likely be closer to Uncharted's average puzzle than Zelda.

I have no doubt that Horizon's going to be a good game, but mechanically, I'm not convinced that the variety it has will be as strong as the combat.

Cue me ignoring the story. This stuff is exactly why dialogue wheels with defined protagonists make me nervous. It's so easy to screw up and ruin both part of the character and poorly convey a situation.

Watched a few more videos. Character design is excellent but the cutscenes look pretty bad with sketchy VA and dodgy animation. Hopefully it gets tweaked before release.

Left side is just desert, main meat is in the right hand side. You'll be stuck in the Hinterlands

Damn, nothing can get me off the fence with this game it seems after going through a few of those. Think I'll wait for reviews and see what the price is after I'm done with Zelda.
