Can you turn off/tone down the HUD? From what I've seen, that's the only thing that's bugging me about this game, everything else is ace
 
Holy fucking shit this game. It's crazy impressive on many levels. I don't care about the facial animation cut scene stuff at all... this looks to be a huge open-world ARPG with lots of complex systems. Gameplay looks quite fun all-around.

And good lord, those graphics. This game looks goddamn gorgeous.
 
Damn I want to support this game, but refuse to play it on my amateur. For me there aren't enough games that take advantage of the pro to warrant the upgrade.

No offence but you are being obtuse right now. Either be happy with base model or upgrade to Pro. If you have the means and are interested in new IPs, you should support them.

There's a lot of people who IMO are overhyped. Until now we hadn't seen enough of the actual game to be that hyped. Does that mean I didn't find the concept interesting and that I didn't think the game was going to be good? Nope.

I don't know how I can dumb it down. When I preordered it, I didn't know how the "moment to moment" gameplay was going to be, now I see that it's more of the same.

So robot dinosaurs are very cool, and killing them looks to be more interesting than killing animals in Primal, but it looks too similar and I failed the three times I tried to play Primal. It's not interesting.

In conclusion, I preordered it based on an interesting concept, a good developer, the fact that it's one of the top games of 2017. Now that I have seen more of it, I realized I prefer to cancel the preorder and wait, my fear of missing out has been eliminated.

Makes sense now? Please don't confuse agreement or approval with coherence. It's perfectly fine if you disagree or disapprove.

I have played on a regular PS4 and it was more than fine. No frames dropped at all and looked beautiful.

So basically you're denying yourself something that you want based on something that you aren't going to get anyway?

For what it's worth, most of the footage we've seen has been base PS4. There's very little Pro footage about (seems people were only allowed to show a few minutes of Pro footage each). Pro version mostly just adds super sampling and checkerboard rendering. Doesn't sound like there's much of a difference in performance frame rate wise.

From my understanding, the majority of footage released today is from the base PS4, and the Pro footage is only in those 2-3 minute videos.

it just seemed like even when someone had aggro they would go back into the tall, red grass and immediately lose them. and the human AI in kinda funnys preview seemed really clueless. but, its a preview so its possible i didnt get the full picture
 
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm so glad that Persona 5 got delayed to April. Otherwise, it'd be a torture for me to choose between Nioh, Persona 5, Torment and Horizon in February.
 
Previews look cool, but the game is made by guerilla, really hope the game is actually fun and not just eye candy like the rest of there games.
 
Are there any screens of the HUD customized with less elements yet?

I do plan on getting a pro but much later in the year at the earliest. Switch + a few extras in March, then a significant tv upgrade a few months later. That's in addition to 17 new windows in the house, refinished floors and new furnace. Pro takes a backseat to all that. I guess I'm feeling impatient after seeing the vids but I can wait.

Also, I thought the restricted/limited vids were 4k, not just footage on Pro. I realize 4k is only available on Pro, but aren't there better visuals in general on the pro vs. base model even if not playing in 4k?

Yeah, that's kinda one of the key parts of the combat design which is the ability to go back into stealth for another run.

They described the loop as "Prepare, Engage, Retreat".

It's really surprising that the wealth of gameplay today made you feel more like it's another FC Primal. I am on record as saying that, on a scale of Far Cry to Witcher 3, this will be closer to Far Cry, but today has actually made me reverse that and say it's closer to Witcher 3. I honestly think the aesthetic must be a major factor in the way you're perceiving that.

People have been doing that since this thread opened. The VA acting issue, the Far Cry comparisons that every preview has said it's not, the Ubisoft comparisons, this artificial "too hyped" crowd, the mental illness joke, the more of the same bullshit that's coming from people who will likely play another "more of the same" game down the line, doubting guerilla games because of one game, like...this is all bait.
 
I was fine with only PC gaming. I wanted to play UC4, but not enough to buy the system. I jumped on the PS4 Pro in December for this game. It just didn't seem right not playing it. UC4 and Bloodborne have been nice bonuses.

Sorry dude, was just the way you phrased what you said made it sound like you weren't going to get a PS4 Pro and thus were denying yourself of a game you want to play just because you couldn't play the best version of it. Hence the responses you got were pretty blunt, and pretty condescending, which you didn't deserve, but was mostly down to a miscommunication.
 
we still haven't seen npc fighting alongside Alloy. I think I read it somewhere that npc can sometimes help you fighting the robots, maybe on certain sidequest or something.

and from trailer, we know there will be human enemies controlling corrupted machines too.

But considering reviews and fans that's factuably an opinion that's not even the norm. Most people are ecstatic for the new Zelda game and I found them quite dull (the ones I've played) but it's obviously something not appealing to me and not that the game's are actually dull or boring as I find them.

(although the new one looks great but I'm sure the story would be something I'd probably enjoy less than Horizon's)

Do you remember if the Cauldron you were in was named Cauldron Sigma? That's what shows up in the KInda Funny video, could be an indication that there's more than one.

I saw Aloy and a couple of friendly NPCs clear a bandit camp, incuding corrupted machines, in one of the recent previews. Don't remember which one though as I've watched too many. ;)

I based my opinion solely on Easy Allies' preview, where they said:

"If you don't like harvesting stuff, if you are not a fan of games like Don't Starve and Far Cry Primal, this might not be the game for you".

There's a good correlation with FC Primal in the sense that I loved the idea of Primal, that's why I bought it on launch, but I couldn't get engaged with its gameplay. So now I think the chance of being burned again is too high.

I'm generally against preordering games so I prefer to wait and see.
 
Game looks fucking amazing. I'll be getting a pro by early 2018, but I might have to hold off on this game until I get a 4k/hdr set because, damn, it is gorgeous.
 
It's as funny as people already have a bunch negative ideas formed about the quality of the game without ever having played.Seeing the comments, it seems that many have played, Horizon has not been released and already has an extensive list of haters.

I totally understand the "wait and see" approach. I'm generally against preordering, too.

But isn't resource gathering a core component to pretty much any open world game? He said Primal because that is a game he knows and has played, but he could have easily said Witcher or Dragon Age or whatever.
 
Watching the video on the official PS YouTube and HUD options seem to be Always On, Dynamic, and Custom. It looks like Always On was on by default. I believe one of the videos I saw earlier showed the HUD elements fading out, so that was most likely on dynamic.

It works the other way around as well. None have played the game yet some can already crown it as GOTY.

It's interesting if you see things from both perspectives.

He wasn't saying the game played like Far Cry Primal. He said it has gathering for crafting stuff, Far Cry and Don't Starve being his first examples, but then also mentioning RPGs in general. You completely took what he said out of context. Witcher 3 has the exact same systems.

The difference being that every shred of evidence we have indicates that the game is great with very few meaningful flaws. Constantly being a downer on it right now is literally swimming upstream against a flood of overwhelmingly positive impressions. I mean, if people want to take that stance and be completely contrarian on a game that they haven't played and yet is unanimously receiving a glowing response on the small chance that they receive vindication should something go awry with the reviews, that's their prerogative I suppose.
 
Very impressed with the hair in this.

It looks natural but also avoids the shampoo commercial style hair that you usually see.

Yeah, but they seem to be mostly feeding off the hype from the people who DID actually play it. Is there a preview out there that one can describe as negative? Everyone seems to be gushing over it or at least looking loving what they've played.
 
I'm interested to see how many people who are "waiting for reviews" will then proceed to change their stance to "well I don't really trust reviews".
