PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

It has already been tested in the swaps/bog and has already yielded better performance, very little/no drops.

CDPR made engine changes to get it running better on the PS4; as of the 1.10 patch (October 2015), the swamp already runs way better on the PS4 Amateur. It's not the laggy area (20 fps) that it used to be, and hasn't been for a long time. DF tested it in depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWr2btuwpJQ

As of 1.10 and later, you're only going to see drops of around 2 fps, and you're only going to see them in the swamp and in the Novigrad market. If Boost mode can give us a 2 fps boost in those areas it will be really nice though.

I spotted one brief instance of it when editing the clips together (at about 1:30 in the video), but that's it. Just one torn frame, compared to the constant tearing in the original.

Yeah your comparison shows a night and day difference as far as screen tearing is concerned.

Thanks for the info.

Im seriously trading in my PS4 for the Pro, now.

How does data transfer work if I put in my own HDD? What are some things I need to do when switching over to a new console?

So, I just did the same.

Will walk you through my process. Backed up my old PS4 to an USB stick. To speed up the backup process I only kept P.T. and my captures, game saves, etc. All games were deleted before hand (would have taken something like 14-18 hours to back up my 1.6TB of game data).

(Tip: Deactivate your PS4 before turning it off for the last time. I forgot - though you can do it from the website later on.)

Swapped my 2TB hard drive with the stock 500gb.

Traded in the PS4 at EB Games for $173 in credit (Canadian mind you). Got a PS4 Pro and went home.

Unpacked the PS4 Pro. Put in my 2TB hard drive. When booting up, you'll be prompted to download the latest system software from Sony and reinstall from scratch. Meaning the contents of the old drive will be wiped.

After the Pro rebooted, I went to settings and restored my backup from the memory stick.

Boom. P.T. and all my trophy images live on.

Has anyone come across crashing/other problems with Boost mode yet? It seems really weird that it's running so smoothly so far, who didn't Sony just enable it from the get-go?

I guess because they always had this mode in a roadmap but released the Pro before they had it ready.

No point telling people to wait etc.

Yeah I remember DF covering it, I know it wasn't as bad as before with the ~20fps but it did sometimes drop given all the effects going on in that region - whatever the case, any extra performance to ensure it keeps a stable 30fps is pretty fine indeed.

Enjoy Fallout 4 before Bethesda inevitably screws it up and the Pro patch makes it perform worst lads. :(

Then the next edition needs to be to allow us to revert the game to run in PS4 mode with the boost on and disregard any Pro patch. That will allow us to weed out games that have worse performance on the Pro. Force games to pretend it's a regular PS4 and then add the boost to it.

Dead Rising 2: OTR now runs at a solid 60 while on the Strip/outdoor section.

Yakuza 0 doesn't seem to have screen tearing or framerate drops anymore.

So far from what I've collected from this thread both SOMA and Resident Evil Revelations 2 crash with it turned on.
