There were the usual suspects attacking reviews and such but it was in no way comparable to the dumbsterfire that was the U3 review thread.
I specifically mean UC4 review thread was filled with people waiting for meltdowns when everyone was pretty calm
For whatever reason a part of GAF is like a soap opera drama queen cult. They manufacture it when there is none.
People will be freaking out over a 8.8 review because "it's low". Still find it to be hilarious people lost their shit over that.

oh yea. I expect that for Horizon and Zelda.
It might also be due to the fact I hate the fact the characters are talking about "holy spirits and the all-mother" in a world where there are giant fucking robot dinosaurs. The clashing elements felt way to jarring when spoken, while it seemed cool aesthetically.

Zelda threads have been calm so far.
However there is a ridiculous amount of hype for that game currently, could go either way.
Horizon thread will be messy, a few comments from one reviewer turned this thread a bit crazy.

You are saying the game is supposed to sell only to die hard open RPG fans but it not. It is suppose to sell to everybody so review based in non-open RPG fans are welcome.
Options, opinions are a good thing... don't close yourself in a bubble.
I really hope I will be able to say "a different time a different place" but I really don't have my hopes up for the zelda review thread because Zelda WILL get a few reviews under 9/10 even if it was one of the best games EVER made because of how scores has changed in the last generation, and I expect people to not count that and get outraged.

Yeah the UC4 thread was clam compare to UC3 that was crazy lol.
I think people were expecting more outrage in the UC4 review thread.
I think there were posters subconsciously/or consciously trying to actual start shit when the UC3 level dumbsterfire did not occur.

Yeah bit of a weird thing, even though it really felt like a click bait review but it didn't stop it being one of the highest reviewed games this gen, so it made little difference anyway.

Wasn't even comparable to some of the other review threads in 2016 tbh. Did you see the Forza Horizon 3 and Recore ones for example? Those actually were what so many wanted the UC4 review thread to be.

Based on the earliest previews/impressions, coupled with the more recent 4 hour preview/impressions, plus the way Sony is pushing it really hard, it's an 88-93 metacritic kind of game. Sure Sony would want to try and recoup their costs even if the game was bad but they wouldn't be out there saying it's their next big franchise or that Aloy is the next Playstation icon, or posting Horizon videos practically daily lately, or running commercials on tv and in theatres, and putting up billboards and posters.

Zedla is not a massive seller you know right? Not sure where this "Zelda is a huge franchise" comes from, look at the franchises sales. It's popular but not huge, not even close to Nintendos biggest. Would not surprise me if horizon outsells Zelda's LTD, especially if Sony bundles it. We shall see can go either way. Zelda looks great though.

horizon is a new ip coming from a studio where their last release wasn't entirely favorable

Yeah. I could understand if it got lots of mixed or low review scores but when most scored were 9's, one review giving a 4/10 really stands out but not in a good way and just makes that reviewer look like they have an agenda.
They would have been better giving a 6 or 7 if they didn't like it because from a technical standpoint, the game was not a broken mess and was well made, certainly not enough to give a 4 anyway.
Oh didn't know, makes it more exciting.
Mainline Zelda is a multi-million seller though. Why isn't it huge?

Well of course it's not close to Nintendo's biggest. Most games aren't.
You should go look at this thread though, Zelda is still a big franchise in the west, is a multi-million seller regularly, and there has been a reason TP was delayed to be a Wii launch title (like BOTW to be a Switch launch title).
