What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

Definitely getting the Wii U version, the only version that should have existed in the first place, just like Twilight Princess for the GameCube.

I preordered the switch and was going to get it for the Switch but I'm cancelling my order and getting the game on the Wii U. I've played a brand new Zelda game on every Nintendo Console. If I got it for the Switch, Wii U would be the only console I haven't played a new Zelda game on.

So I'll be getting it on the Wii U.

So after the glowing previews is anyone second guessing their decision to play the Wii U version? I really wish there were some recent reports on the Wii U version. If this is really the classic it's being hyped as I'd like to play it at its best. If I'm going to get a Switch for Mario Odyssey then I guess it won't be any cheaper by then... I can't get a Switch at launch at this point though so I guess I'll stick with my preorder. Oh geez.

I haven't read anything yet that would justify buying a new console for this game instead of just buying the Wii U version.

Considering I all ready have a Wii U and no switch pre-order I am buying Zelda for it. Also, I think it will be a great game to close out the Wii U for me and complete my collection on it.

So my professor mentioned his master sword replica in class this week. Naturally, I felt compelled to ask him after class if he was buying BotW which he responded with "Hell, yeah!"

He's buying it on Wii U, too!

I'll be picking up the Wii U version though it probably won't be at launch. Don't think I'll be picking up a Switch for a year or two.

I am definitely getting the Wii U version as won't be getting a Switch until later, but still pretty mortified that Nintendo are charging £50 for the version of the game on the old, dead console ffs.
This is pretty common for all companies on all systems specially when there is not a huge difference between both versions
no,there isn't

So it's definitely not the time to panic, but did any one else with an early WiU order, like early December, from Amazon, get sent a message about the game not being released. I wanna say no duh it comes out the third of next month, and the shipping date was buggy to begin with, but I'm wondering why they sent it at all.

I do want a Switch and would prefer the Switch version, but I'm not buying a system for one game - especially if it's on another system I already own. I'm definitely gonna wait it out for now, but I'm not patient enough to wait for Zelda when it's readily available by other means, so... Wii U it is.

I can only hope the differences will be minimal.

I have both versions pre-ordered and I just got an e-mail saying my WiI U copy no longer has an estimated delivery date. Odd.

My Wii U copy from Amazon is still listed on the 3rd and status changed to "not yet shipped" today. I did notice though that the Wii U version seems to be listed as "currently unavailable" now, maybe they finally sold out of stock today? When I checked this morning they still had it listed as available for order.

the physical wii u version just sold out on amazon. Whoever is thinking of getting the wii u version, better decide fast before it possibly sells out in other retailers..

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if wii u version ends up being more rare than switch one.

Glad I dived in a couple days ago.

And I got the delivery estimate message too, uh.

*looks at reddit*

I just got off with the phone with a rep, preorders for the Wii U aren't being shipped until April... unbelievable. As much as I hate them I'd rather pick it up at GameStop....

Oh god please don't be true.

I just ordered mine a few hours ago. Good timing I guess.

I got the same e-mail. Getting only the Wii U version because I don't want a Switch yet. So if Amazon screws up my order...

...well Horizon is still coming Tuesday so I guess I'll just play that.

I would really love to see some updated footage of the Wii U version. I have a Switch and Zelda preordered, but I'm not thrilled with keeping it.

Don't have the economy to invest in a Switch now. Nor do I see many reasons why I should get one. But I really want to play this game so hopefully it will run well on WiiU. I might buy it anyway and play it with Cemu when the emulation gets good enough.

Edit: read the other comments about ordered copies for WiiU... :(

This poll is missing an answer for "both at launch", because that's what I'll be doing.

I have the Wii U version pre-ordered since July 2014 and there's no chance in hell that I'll cancel that. I pre-ordered the (European) Limited Edition of it as soon as it became available and I will keep it that way.

I'm a Zelda whore.

I had a Switch, BotW, and a few other Switch items preordered the day they went up, but unfortunately the funds for that had to go towards a new phone, as mine died a week later. I've moved my preorder to the Wii U version, since I already have a Wii U
as a dust collector.

I will buy the Switch with Zelda. And since Fast RMX is also ready for release it will be glorious. I would get Bomberman if someone can confirm that it is pretty good/ similar to the old titles and not a mess? Man, they should have offered one of the switch colors as a bundle with 1-2-switch for 15 Bucks more and I would have also gotten that :-D

I got that weird Amazon email as well. Amazon's supplier relationship with Nintendo still seem less than ideal, which is odd. I thought they had worked everything out when they started selling 3DSs again.

Havent got an email from Amazon yet but my delivery date in my order says March 31st...
Which isnt too bad cause I was only going to play it day 1 and then spring break. Plus I had the discount.

But I really wanted to play it during those times... Ugh.

I like how you basically just gave up lol

Try calling em I guess

By the time I'm done with Persona 5, if Cemu runs it well enough, I'll get the Wii U version. If not, I'll play it on the Switch when I eventually get a Switch.

If you didn't get the email, maybe don't mess with it? But if you want to, just reconfirm shipping to 2 day, and the date should change to the 3rd. I called and they couldn't change it, but someone mentioned this method and it works.

Tried that and it still said march 31st and track package changed from a green line to March 29 to not yet shipped.

Change shipping to 1 day and it says Delivered but track package says not yet shipped. Change back to 2-day shipping and same thing.

Gonna have to call now lol

Planning on getting the Wii-U version if CEMU emulation is reported good.
Remember that emulation can be a very long game but ultimately it has the potential to be superior to the Wii U or switch offerings (depending on if higher res textures or additional particle effects* are used on the switch version or whatever). Also much like the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess I don't see this hanging around on shelves for too long though the Wii U eShop will never sell out (until the day it shuts down).

*-Oh I'm getting flashbacks to PSO where the Gamecube version is actually best due to this because Blue Burst was based on the Xbox version which didn't include the effects. There were not many I don't think but an example being a head haze effect on Telepipes. Might have been some lens flare too (really missing out there...).

The RRP of all A-tier Wii U games is €60/£50 (it's hard to always remember this due to so many great games being B or C tier). Personally I was more annoyed at Wind Waker HD because releasing it in that tier had made the RRP effectively go up since it's original 2003 release. Retailers not offering much discount though, we can't expect them to piss away their margin all of the time especially as this might be a less popular version of the game (so can't sell in bulk) or if it does turn out more popular people are more likely to buy it at any cost because it's a lot cheaper than a Switch (it is worth noting if you pre-ordered years ago you could have had the game for under £40, months ago £40 still but if you've left it until now it's pretty close to RRP after being sold out for a while). Btw on, Amazon.fr the Wii U version for €51.99 but once you add shipping costs in it might be fairly close to £50 anyway.

The Switch version of the game has an RRP of €70/£60. Now before you go "that's crazy" it falls in line the pricing of this gen (look up Fifa 17, Horizon : Zero Dawn
etc) and thus I re-open the "it's a schrondingers console" can of worms but you can find similar discounts (for example looking at Amazon UK right now Switch version is £48).

Apparently I did? Just realized I accidentally preordered the Wii I version instead of the switch. Good thing amazon emailed me a reminder or I'd have been super pissed next Friday. Still gonna be a shitty day with having to run around to hopefully find a copy...

No issues here... hmm.

We're getting the WiiU version, the earliest we'll have a Switch in the house is after Mario - that and Zelda are literally the only interesting games announced for that system.

Does anyone know if there will be the option of changing audio language and subtitles independently of each other?

I heard that the Wii U version loads slower. Does anybody know how much slower?

If it hasn't been improved since E3 (it probably has), it loads significantly slower. Don't have an exact number, but it will be a very noticeable difference if it hasn't been optimized since that build.

Zero interest in the switch, maybe one day if they decide to sell the console without the tablet and just a box for a cheaper prize....im down.

So WiiU version for me

Speaks volumes about Amazon when they cant even ship a basic copy of a video game. If they dont bring it to me on launch then ill buy it from gamestop.

Something seems to be up with Amazon lately. I've been using them regularly for over 15 years, but all of a sudden, they seem to be having a lot of issues, particularly when it comes to pre-orders.
