IIRC the impressions I've seen say Switch docked is a little better than the Wii U version performance wise but it's still pretty close. I believe the Switch undocked is where the fps improvements are very noticeable.

People keep saying patch but it's not a patch. It's a 3gb install, probably to help with load times or data streaming like Xenoblade X.

It's not a patch you download from the internet, so yeah all gameplay videos had it

Bleh. I guess I should just contain my excitement and go with the Wii U version.

CEMU to the rescue later in the spring hopefully, if I can't stomach the performance issues.

Ah ok, well it'll be interesting to see if there is a Wii U patch going live tomorrow..or ever.
 
I didn't realise it was an install from the disc, usually Wii U installs are done from the game but this happens before it will boot using the Wii U patch interface. I'm sure I saw the word update too...
 
The Switch version actually got a patch today, and some streamers I watched said the game felt smoother but who knows how reliable that is.

I REALLY hope Wiiu has a day 1 patch as well. PLEASE NINTENDO GODS

Hmm that's interesting. I know early copy people said the got the 3gb update/install, so I think it had to have been from the disc. :/
 
Picking it up on my lunch break tomorrow. I'll swing by my apartment to install the 3GB of data so it'll be good to play as soon as I get home from work.
 
My Amazon copy of Wii U version just shipped out. Had switch and it's version preordered but didn't think it was the best move for me right now
 
I would recommend the people who are going digital to download it to the system memory, playing off usb hdd in my experience made it run a little worse.

Made Zelda run worse? Or games in general?

All my digital Wii U games are on my USB HDD and I never noticed any issues.

Just Zelda, slightly longer loads, more pop-ins. All my digital games are on my usb hdd as well. Keep in mind this is just my experience with it. It's still very playable but you will notice it.

Bayonetta 2 and Tropical Freeze are all time classics but Nintendo's lost my trust. They didnt fully support it through its life cycle and killed it before even 4 years.

At least Zelda looks like its shaping up to be another classic.

Bayo 2, XCX, and TMS #FE are my only WiiU games.

If Zelda runs OK I might get it, but not till after I'm done with Nioh, Nier, Horizon and P5.

Hopefully it shows up on the North American E-Shop soon today but I am not holding my breath (no pun intended) because it is already just past midnight in Japan and it is only going up now for them.
 
My copy arrived today. Currently installing the update, don't know if it's from the disc or a download though.

A bit disappointed that this has the same cover as the Switch version, liked the old artwork way more.

6 more minutes to go...

Whaaaaa, naw son the Switch art is a million times better than that old Wii U cover. I'm glad they changed it.

Amazon pushes mine to the 7th. I have no idea why a regular Wii U edition has a delay. That's insane. It's a good thing if you think about how well it'll do for the industry.

I'm fine waiting but I'm still shocked.

Exact same thing happened to me. Doesn't bother me because I'm going to be out of town til next Friday.
