Who needs food when you have Zelda?

Not feeling the subtitle. Thought I saw some nice ones. Like Party like it's 98 or something.

edit:
nvm, it's been brought up. No need to pile on

I liked "its dangerous to go alone" variation as it was the first line of text anyone read in game from a Zelda..

But...meh.

Happy adventuring!

What a beautiful OT :O. Can't wait to join u guys, but first i gotta find a switch XD. They are sold out everywhere in the Netherlands :(

So how does storage space and installing digital games on the Wii U work?

On the PS3 you need to have, like twice the size of the game available to download and install it, and if the Wii U is like that I don't think there's anyway to get 26GB free on my 32GB system even if I delete literally everything that isn't save data.

I'd have to double check but I seem to recall the eShop saying that 13GB free is necessary. Shouldn't be higher than that.

Beautiful OP. I'd like to share a little parody I wrote to pass the time...

’Twas the Night before Switchmas, when all through the house,
The excitement was ardent, not easy to douse.
I’d look out the window, and dash down the stairs,
In hopes that the UPS truck would be there.

My consoles were nestled all snug in their place,
And nary a cartridge was out of its case.
Most folks are asleep, but I’m still wide awake,
Non-gamers, these feelings are hard to relate!

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Thank goodness the new Zelda’s not a rehash!

I blurted ‘thank you’ to the UPS driver,
And ran back inside such that neighbors nearby were
Rattled and flustered; what could cause such commotion?
Isn’t Daniel too old for such childlike emotion?

Yes, I may be too old, but some things never change.
And even though many would find this quite strange,
This new game from Nintendo, the best Zelda ever,
Is exactly why gaming’s my passion forever.

Time to don my green tunic, restore peace to Hyrule,
(It’s not easy to do this AND be in med school).
My sword is unsheathed; on my shoulder, my crossbow,
Now the long wait begins; that is, ‘till tomorrow…
Really enjoyed this!

so how many people here are old school nintendo fans (grew up with the original NES, SNES, N64, GCN) that just got away from the big N but after seeing the reviews came in this bitch to catch a contact high? My last Nintendo system was the cube, and OoT is my GOAT, so I WILL find a way to play this god damned game.

Me. Loved Zelda 1&2, LttP is my favorite. Haven't touched Zelda since. Got Switch and BotW on order.

I am so, so ready for this. Does anyone know if you can preload it on the U yet?

Doesn't appear so, saw something on reddit where a Nintendo rep was quoted as saying it may not have one at all, and may not be available for digital dl until tomorrow at 9 am pst o_O

Gonna ask again for new page, anyone know if gamestop or best buy are doing midnight releases for the Wii U version or is that just for Switch?

every new mainstream zelda since ocarina, i have been trying to relive that feeling. i remember thinking tww was better immediately upon finishing it, a sentiment i have majorly walked back since. with twilight princess, it is my favorite in the 3d series, but after the initial hype and my desire to relive oot's spectacle, i had fet it cheapened the ordeal just a little. skyward sword was my last attempt to really do something similar, by trying to isolate myself with it and enjoy what was probably going to be the best game of 2011 for me (it wasn't).

i have been excited for breath of the wild and i am even taking a vacation day monday to relax (and play the game). however i had expected a bit more like other zeldas i enjoy. good games that dont redefine genres and set new expectations. now with the game being compared to all time greats, i am still feeling the same way. instead of excited, i feel skeptical. i can't believe this actually may be what i had expected from other titles for 20 years.

There's a few things off about the OT but I'll fix them up tomorrow - I stupidly left out the Wolf Link Amiibo... WHOOPS.

For now I'm off to bed :) I've read every single comment in this thread, thanks for all the kind words!

Amazon better ship my Wii U copy on time.

Sums it up for me as well. I still remember the Twilight Princess release thread where I knew it loved it, but something was missing in the end.

Picking up my Switch in the morning tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing how it goes especially with all the universal praise of the game out there.

I know I'm going to dig it, but I'm intrigued by things like the stamina system, gear degradation and cooking so will be fun to experience it as I've been keeping mostly media blackout the last few weeks :-D

Yay! Got it! I didn't get the Zelda Amiibo yet, weird, it was ordered with the link rider one. :/ Oh well, I get to find my own shields I guess. Had to get a pro controller too, since the gamepad is useless in this game. Will order more games on Best Buy's website more often now. I got this faster then I do with Prime on Amazon.

I really wish and thought my Switch would appear today (Thursday). Now I have to wait until post time tomorrow, around noon. :(

Oh well, Imma clean the house and take the dog on a long walk before so I can enjoy a long weekend of new Zelda goodness. I am so hyped dudes. Beautiful thread.

So what does the Hylian text around the border of the OP say? I tried translating it myself, but I'm sleep deprived and brain dead.

Looking for some WiiU info. Eshop page says 10 gigs. I know there is a mandatory 3 gig DL. Is that for the disk only? If not, will that show up to DL at midnight?

Follow up Question: Do you have to /complete/ the Cave of Shadows to get the heart boost for wolf Link? I can't seem to get past the mid 30's.

Yes. The game saves how many hearts you have left when you beat the cave and that becomes Wolf Link's health in Breath of the Wild.

When Nintendo US usually update their store ? I want to start downloading and sleep.

A big release like this usually goes up at 12AM EST/9PM PST

Nice OP. Haven't been this excited to play something in a long time. I only change my avatars, desktop, phone and 3DS wallpapers for special occasions.

Hit a bit of a slump at the second tower, but I'm sure it's going to pick up.

Pretty insane gameplay. Perfect balance in terms of "I'm not going there" or "I better avoid this encounter" and then "fuck it you guys are going down" and "I'm going to cook a bunch of spicy stews and get up in that mountain".

Also the shrines are amazing. Feel like Portal-like puzzles or something.

I can't believe it is finally here.

24 hours from now I will
STILL BE WAITING FOR THE GODDAM WORK DAY TO END SO I CAN GO PICK UP MY PREORDER!!!
