The "my pre order vendor f*cked my Switch release day delivery" thread

Yeah, Amazon fucked me. Pre-ordered on 1/13, the status page consistently said that I'd get it today, then at 11:40ish today I get told that my order finally shipped and will get here Monday.

After asking them how the fuck they fucked that up they went on about how they fulfilled shit on a "first come, first serve" basis, which is particularly enraging when I look at the Amazon games twitter and see them going on about how you can get the Switch at their brick-and-mortar stores and on Prime Now earlier (including in THE CITY WHERE I FUCKING LIVE.)

Meanwhile, a guy at my work who ordered from Best Buy got his YESTERDAY.

Yeah these can definitely NOT be blamed on Nintendo. E-commerce at its worst.

So my local Best Buy didn't receive any pro controllers even though I preordered mine a month ago for store pick up. My order changed to "out of stock" this morning before they opened. No idea when they'll get the controller in. And of course all local competitor stores were sold out as well. Pretty unhappy with Best Buy right now.

Amazon totally fucked both my Master Edition and console itself, that have been pre-ordered since Jan 13th.

Drove over to Fred Meyer today and bought a console, Pro Controller, extra grey JoyCon, charge grip, and BotW right off the shelf.

Fuck 'em. They can have these packages back whenever they get here next week.

Hello from NY. Add me to the list. I have the same 'Preparing Shipment' notice since yesterday evening. 😕
What a messy launch. I've talked to 2 customer service reps... same response. "It'll be here for sure/definitely."
Whelp. 3 more hours to hope.

Edit: Worse case scenario I get it next week then.
First time Amazon has let me down.

So I called. I asked to speak to a manager.

He told me that they're using their own courier service, Amazon logistics, and it will ship and be delivered today. He also said to stop hyperventilating LOSERS
Kev, you should just go full troll and rename the thread 'First World Problems - Switch Edition'

One could say that Amazon Switched the date you'll be getting your console.
Ayyyyy

If some gun for hire is delivering it instead of usps, dude will definitely not make the effort to try to get through locked gate of my building.

My Amazon order says it has been shipped and is arriving by 8pm today. When I click the UPS tracking, it shows the item "in transit" with today by 8pm still as the date. Normally though, it says "on truck for delivery."

Pro controller and Zelda order arrived from Best Buy - also via UPS - so I'm not holding out much hope that I get it tonight. Unbelievable.

Here is another one...

I got the game (Zelda) and Pro controller. But no console (gray)!

But I simply could not accept that so I went to my local electronics shop and found a neon console. Instabuy!

Wife gets the gray one which will arrive next week.

So I had a mare with Amazon today UK.

Got an email to say it was out for delivery at 10:57AM. About 7 hours passed and I heard nothing. No updates, so I contacted the webchat. They said it'll be with you as soon as humanly possible and before 9AM, but they ensured me they spoke to the driver and he'd do me quickly as I'd been waiting so long.

Well, fast forward three hours ish. I get another email, 9 hours after it initially was supposed to have been out for delivery telling me it was out for delivery again. I'd been up for 12 hours waiting and at 8PM I contact them again. I make it clear that I wasn't happy, I'd taken a day off work and the latest update on my order said it was out for delivery again and I wanted them to tell me why.

Basically I got no real answer, but within 10 minutes it showed up at 8:30PM. I guess I'm lucky as it still came, but I wasted my entire day waiting for it. Just so glad it's here.

I feel you on that OP, I got burned by Best Buy on Smash Wii U, who didn't tell me I wasn't getting my preordered bundle until hours after it should have arrived at my apartment, and even then I had to call them to find out. Terrible business practice.

I heard the nightmare stories about Amazon. I'm glad I got my system in person from Gamestop. I got BotW, amiibos, and a case from Amazon and those all showed up today. I had the chance to order the pro controller from Gamestop.com, so that should be in in a few days, but I can definitely make due with the Joycons and grip until then.

Did anyone else pay down their order in full using gift cards first? I did and now I don't have a credit card charge to use to see whether they've shipped it or not

A buddy of mine had done the same and had no charges at first. he did see an update of shipping & received his stuff today though.

I feel you OP, Amazon screwed up my Switch/Zelda Shipping (And the same thing happened with Amazon for PS4 Pro back in November.)

Have had it preordered since day one. Amazon site says it is "Shipping Soon" and lists it as being delivered tonight by 8pm. I don't even have a tracking number yet (Even though I have been charged), so I am guessing that is not happening.

I reached out to chat support and they assured me I would have it tonight by 8pm. If not then I will be getting a discount/refund/etc. (Which is exactly what happened with the Pro)

My advice is to bitch and ask/demand for discount or credit because they aren't going to offer it. At least get something to make up for the delay and then you can use that to buy another game or accessory on them!

Ups tried to deliver my Zelda special edition but apparently I wasn't home. Tried to see if I could pick it up at a distribution center tomorrow. No dice. Best Buy has a contract or something with ups that won't allow any changes to the order. Beyond pissed right now. Have to wait until Monday.

I at least somehow managed to get the address changed to my work so I know it will arrive but, ugh. Such bullshit.

Yes this is totally on Nintendo for their incompetence not Amazon being the only retailer using glorified fucking UBER drivers to deliver products.

But they aren't. I and many others had their orders shipped from Amazon via USPS, UPS and FedEx. The very ones you claimed they don't use.

My Switch and Zelda arrived from Amazon via USPS just like they said. And they shipped it out on Wednesday.

You know they shipped a lot of consoles and games over the last few days, and it's pretty much all they do. There's no other options like store pickup, like other retailers have.

And I've also read of people having trouble with Best Buy and other retailers as well. It's a major console launch, a lot of product is being moved. There's bound to be screwups at every retailer, it's just the nature of us humans.

2 and a half hours to go here in NYC, it's been on "Shipping today" all day.

I called them up around 1pm, said there was nothing they could do. The CS person will call me at 7:30 to check if I had received it yet. If not, some action would be taken, not sure what though.

I better get some credit on my account or something major because the only reason I did Amazon was to make sure I had one on release day :(

Come on, please buzz my apartment...

After Amazon's screw-up I went to the Nintendo store in NY this afternoon, got in line for 20 minutes and walked out with a Neon Switch. I had some games and accessories for shipping/in-store pickup from Best Buy and I got all of those no problem.

I'm selling the gray Amazon Switch coming in a few days to a family friend at a small loss. He didn't have the full amount to buy one anytime soon so he's paying me back gradually and so he and his kids will get to own one a lot sooner than anticipated.

BestBuy.ca just charged me about 2 hours ago, so yeah. not getting this until mid-late next week. Yay.

Fuck that "Best Buy shipping is great" thread. I cancelled my The Source order because of that thread, and totally regret my decision now. I'm never listening to GAF again!!!

Canada BTW

Oh yeah, not to mention my Pro Controller and BOTW is still "Preparing for Shipment" from Amazon - yes, I am a Prime member, and contacting support has done nothing.

I'm not getting my Zelda Master edition until Wed. :(

I'm still not even convinced it'll be there then, to be honest. I don't understand how Amazon just loses a video game to be shipped out.

Like, do they just think it's going to show up on Monday or what?

GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION

If it weren't for the 20% off for being a prime member, I'd be dropping my Amazon BotW Wii U order and getting it at the store. My son's lego set is even having shipping issues. I'm curious if these issues are related to Nintendo or if it's a greater issue with Amazon.

Meanwhile my friend ordered a neon a couple of hours ago and it's arriving tomorrow. He already got a shipping label and everything. Support doesn't know why mine never shipped and they can't even estimate when it'll arrive since a shipping label was never made.

Lol ordered Botw from amazon to get that sweet prime discount and same day shipping even though I already got it at BB (planning to refund the extra one) but it's a good thing I already picked up the BB one:

"We’re sorry your package is late. If it hasn’t arrived by Wednesday, Mar 8, please come back for more options."

I feel like I'll walk into a Target today and find one before 8pm tonight :/

I know they're probably sold out all over the place, but I feel like just chancing a stroll into a few stores to see if I can find one since I have a feeling Amazon is gonna shit the bed on this one.

Exactly. Amazon has lost alot of my trust for these kinds of items :/ Nintendo not allocating enough is one thing, but it seems like specific areas got hit worse on these delays. E-commerce needs to step-up if they want fewer workers with more automation.

wooooow. that's some bullshit.

Try missing your delivery and not being able to go pick it up from a distribution center because the retailer sucks.

I had this happen with Target when I ordered an Xbox One S on Black Friday.
The delivery driver took it to the wrong address, then just brought it back to the distribution center. Called Target and they basically told me to pound sand and that it wasn't their fault. So it ended up getting delivered 2 days later.

Ordered in January, "Shipping Soon", to be here at 8pm today. Get email at 4pm saying it will come in tomorrow via Amazon Logistics.

Customer support offers nothing except saying "yep it's delayed".

See Amazon's Twitter promoting Switch on Prime Now in my city.

You breakin my heart, Amazon.

Pre-ordered the console and Pro Controller from my local Best Buy and picked it up at 10am this morning.

Pre-ordered Zelda from Amazon and didn't mind waiting until this evening to get it... only it was "lost" in Tennessee by FedEx :-/ The fact Amazon shipped it from California Thursday night and I live in South Central Pennsylvania surrounded by Amazon distribution centers is perplexing to say the least.

Mines is somewhere in Jersey. I was walking around work today(Amazon) and saw at least 5 Switch's in the bins waiting the picked, but I never picked them :(

This is why you dont ship shit at the last minute...and this is also why you dont make the release date of a system on a freaking friday....the last day before the weekend nintendo smh

Pre ordered from microplay, they called me yesterday to say its ready to pick it up today . Arrived there, they had a printed list with the preorders but somehow my name was not there just in their system. So seeing they had given all their preorders from the printed list they sold their remaining spare systems to walk ins. Yeah well they sold my system too 🙁😕👎.
So no switch for me today or in the foreseeable future till they get a new delivery. What sucks is that I sold them my new 3ds xl to them the other day for credit on the switch.
So I don t have a nintendo portable anymore to play on my break at work. I guess my vita will see some love in the coming weeks.
At least I have so many games to play on other console that it does not saddens me too much.
Still I was eager to play zelda on the go .

Ah well better luck next time

I'm a bit bummed out that I missed my delivery by half an hour. Amazon handed it off to UPS, and since I wasn't home yet, UPS is dropping it off at an Access Point for me to pick up. Since it's Friday, I have to wait until Monday.

The timing couldn't have been worse. If I hadn't been sick for the past couple of days and took time off, I would have left earlier today.
