The "my pre order vendor f*cked my Switch release day delivery" thread

Now Amazon customer service is telling me the Robbinsville, New Jersey fulfillment center is running far behind and they're not sure if my order will arrive tomorrow or Monday.

Amazon changed my 'Preparing Shipment' status to 'Shipping Today' ...it will probably have a proper delivery day soon. After 8 pm I bet.

Talking to an Amazon CS rep and he has the gall to tell me "I have now checked that this is a pre order and the item is not released yet.
The order will ship out once it will release."

L M A O

I'm pissed. Demanding to talk to a supervisor, for all the good that'll do me. Fuck Amazon after this. Seriously. Fuck em.

It's at the local FedEx facility now, but hasn't switched to "Out for Delivery" yet. It got there a bit later in the morning (around 9:00 AM) so that's after when FedEx typically loads up their trucks for the day's deliveries. What do you think the chances are of it coming tonight still? Does FedEx load up their truck more than once a day?

I live 80 miles north of NYC.

They screwed my order up and said it wouldn't be here till Monday. My biggest gripe however is that two separate customer service reps flat out told me that I would definitely have it today when I contacted them this morning about my concerns. So when I finally got the tracking number and called about it I was pissed to hear the bullshit story they gave me about how the system was released today so that is why it would be impossible for me to get it today and no one was getting it today. I said look at my amazon history, I have a PS4, and Xbox One S, a PS4 Pro, and a PSVR all preordered and delivered on release day. Please do not tell me lies about things like that. She offered me
A month of extra prime. I said, why would I want an extra month of a service that is not reliable? Why was I told by two separate people that I would have it twice? "I don't know".

I cancelled the order. That was the sign that I didn't need a Switch at the moment. I also returned the Zelda that they actually did send me and that showed up at 11am. And then I ordered a JB4 for my MK7 Golf R.

I'm in the same boat, Best Buy sent me an email today telling me that the shipping had been delayed to Monday. Talked to customer service and got nowhere. I won't be buying anything from Best Buy again, at least Amazon seems to be doing something about this whole mess.

Well my pre-order got pushed to Monday and I got $20 credit out of the deal.. I also got an explanation from a supervisor as to why there's a holdup.

Apparently, and I quote: "Amazon hasn't received the item on time from the supplier, hence all orders for this items has been impacted." So maybe this means Nintendo? Unsure who the supplier is in this instance.

Best Buy said the same thing. This "supplier" has some explaining to do

Did you call or chat? I'm deciding which route I should go.

Since around 4 AM my order has gone from "preparing for shipment" to "shipping now" to "shipping today" and then back to "shipping now" again. Assuming that's not very important but idk.

Yeah, I am very curious as to what happened here.

I'm chatting, but I was tempted to go with the phone route. In the end, I got $50 out of the deal instead of the $20 originally offered due to making sound arguments and basically telling the dude I was leaving Amazon after this debacle (and many others in the past in my own experience :/)

Just a reminder to be courteous if you contact support. Whatever delay you're dealing with is not the rep's fault. Customer support is a shitty mostly thankless job. You can still be somewhat forceful without being a dick.

My UPS packages with the Switch, Zelda, and a Pro Controller actually came tonight. Got them after 6:30 PM. Really thought it was all going to be delayed.

But that was the Gamestop order. Meanwhile, the stuff I bought from Amazon is still not shipped and no word from them. I complained after their CS was no help and never got a follow-up. Guess I'll try again.

I think there was an initial number of allocated units. There was an increase after that. In the interim, the numbers must have changed and then there were some last minute delays in getting everything fulfilled. Overall...they fucked up

And people who had the first pre-orders payed for it.

That sounds likely, bleh. Just going to walk into a B&M store next time and not deal with this shit again. -.-

I'm gonna call again to change the shipping address to my apartment. I can't do it online but the rep should be able to do seeing as how it hasn't actually shipped yet.

Amazon well and truly screwed me... I've had a few issues with my past couple orders as it is. Up until about a week ago I've had nothing but perfection from them and now I'm having nothing but crap.

I preordered my switch maybe 1 hour after the Amazon page went live? Arrival marked for release day all the way up to launch ofc. Tracking updated at 00:22 on the 3rd saying it was in Manchester (I'm maybe 10 miles away).

No update since. It's now 01:16am on the 4th. I ended up ringing a bunch of local stores and managed to snag one a couple hours ago. God knows what Amazon are doing but I'm well and truly fed up with them after this. What a mess... What've people been doing to get compensation for the screw up?

Yup. They didn't track the orders well. They tried to assign orders according to distro locations and the locations did not get stocked properly due to this issue.

in store pick up should have been my plan of action. It's ok though. It'll work out in the end

After getting nowhere talking to Amazon CS through chat, I tried calling them. Ended up getting a month of prime for BOTW and 50 dollars back for the Switch. I'm disappointed, but it could have been worse, I guess.

There's a Eurogamer article explaining how GAME and Amazon UK also failed to ship units to customers with preorders because of "stock problems"

It's starting to look like Nintendo is to blame for this.

Just chatted with Amazon. Sounds like they don't know where it is. Basically said wait until Monday.

Got a $20 credit. Was off work today. So annoyed.

And people who had the first pre-orders payed for it.

I preordered at about 3:30am est after the presentation on 1/13 and I didn't have any problems with my order. I don't know how they decide the order in which preorders are filled but it looks like its definitely not first come, first served.

Unless people screwed with their order or account info between preordering and shipping, maybe that has something to do with it. I didn't use a credit card though, I usually direct debit my checking account and never have had any problems with my orders coming when they are supposed to.

Literally as soon as I was on the phone with the nicest lady I got a text notification directly after the call that my Switch has shipped. NY here. Coming tomorrow via Amazon's carrying service. She explained the entire situation to me. It's not Amazon's fault. It's Nintendo's. She said the supplier was delayed in sending the units to Amazon and on top of that, UPS/USPS can't proceed further without the details of the item if the supplier doesn't even provide with specifics.

It's not Amazon's fault. Not this time.

Best Buy estimated it would come today,
Then it said it would come on wednesday
Then this morning it said it would come today
Now it says it'll come on Monday

Also I woke up with a fever today and missed work.

I was okay with the wednesday date then they gave me hope...

Amazon blew it in much the same way they blew it for me with the PS4. They shipped it using two day air with one day to go and surprisingly that's not fast enough to get a package to me in one day. The first customer service rep didn't understand the problem and insisted the package could still show up today. The second was more understanding and said he would contact UPS to make sure it was delivered tomorrow instead of Monday (the estimated delivery date) but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen and I have to wait until next weekend to have any real time to play.

We've found the culprit!!

I pre-ordered 2 units within hours of pre-launch press conference. Amazon unit arrived today, Walmart unit nowhere to be found.

Thank u Amazon. ^_^

Got $20 out of this. Now, I need to wait to see when it actually ships and when is the delivery day because they have no idea about either. Aw well just a wait & see now.
Good luck everyone.

On the phone with Amazon customer service.

They said everything is fucked up and Bomberman is now estimated for delivery in APRIL.

...Da fuck?

you guys know it's not the customer service reps fault you didn't get your system on time, right?
Agreed, and agree that they shouldn't be treated poorly. However, do you have the contact info for someone who is responsible that I should talk to instead?
