So the special edition map looks really nice next to these Fangamer prints I have....

Anyone else playing with the Pro HUD from the get go? It is excellent. What's even the point of the temperature and noise gauges? You know if you're in a hot area or cold area by the environment and Link's animation. You know if you're moving stealthily or not by the noise you're making and the reaction of the AI around you. The HUD readouts are redundant and take away from the visuals.

I have an EXTREMELY good Recipe

Raw Meat + Apple + Hearty Radish

Which wields
Hearty Steamed Meat, Full Recovery and +3 Gold hearts; maybe 2 radishes gives you 6 hearts, I dunno

I found that as well early on and immediately decided never to cook it again. I mean, cook 20 of these and you are essentially invincible to all but 1 hit KOs.

I tried to avoid using food for health recovery all game. Made it way too easy. Buffs only.

Holy shit, I took down a guardian.

I managed to climb up a pillar that was tall enough that I could keep firing arrows into his eye and he kept charging his beam but never got a shot off. 30-40 arrows later, the fucker was dead.

Been poking around near Hyrule Castle. Probably unwise. I did however manage to do something slightly clever that I want to share. You know that feeling when you're just minding your own business and suddenly red laser sight followed by actual laser followed by death? Pretty annoying! Sure would be nice if there was a way to be warned about that...

(After getting the Slate fixed)
And with an upgraded Shiekah Sensor, there is! Take a picture of your unfriendly neighborhood spider-bot (or "Guardian Stalker" as they're called) and set the sensor to look for them. Instead of bleeping for Shrines, the slate now warns you about nearby Guardians. And the detector range is longer than the guardian laser. Of course if there are many Guardian Stalkers around, it becomes less useful. But in that case, you are probably well aware already.

Also, in enemy AI today... Enemies with no weapons will pick up things off the ground to attack you with. That includes Remote Bombs. That was not the smartest enemy around...

So, behind
Kakariko
Village...
I found the great fairy, and there looks to be something to place a shrine ball into but I have no clue where it is. Any hints?

I haven't solved it but
there's a ball in the building where Impa is at. I've been trying to figure it out how to get it myself but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be that one. I guess it's quest related so don't go looking around everywhere for it like I did lol.
.

Am I just supposed to stumble upon the memory locations purely based on the photos? The painter helped with the first one but I can't get any info on any of the other ones.
The painter from Kakariko village? He helps you with these? Really?

Also, he said something about a fairy fountain near the village. Where do I find it?

Oh..my....god

Nintendo are sneaky sons of bitches, you cant save in the lost forest and then use that to essentially save state where you were before you got lost and sent to the last checkpoint, and if you do , they will literally send you right outside the lost forests, those clever girls

I did about 5 of them from the photos themselves, 5 of them had hints (that I found) from the painter, and then after 20+ hours of not being able to figure out the other two while I explored the world I just gave up. And one of them (the forest) really is just bullshit. It could be anywhere, there's no hints at all.

One thing I'll say, and this applies to everything in the game, is that if you're like me you're been climbing and paragliding everywhere. But if you don't use the paths (take your horse) you'll miss a surprising amount of stuff like stables etc that have important info and side quests. One of the memories I didn't find myself I would have found easily had I just stuck to the paths in the middle of the map.

It's why the horse mechanics (both calling them to you and riding them) being so damn mediocre is one of my complaints with the game. I never used my horse, he sucked.

That's actually happened to me as well: flew into Death Mountain only to get burned after reaching the tower (that, and the stray Guardian nearby, yikes!). Had no clothing/potions that would protect against the heat and had no idea where to find them, but
backtracking revealed a stable with some heat-resustent elixers.
I know I'll be rethinking my entrances into new provinces. So fun to fly into the unknown, but you miss stuff like that.

Yes, after you help him with the great fairy, he will be at every stable you visit.

Oh, free survival tip!

If attacked outside, you can always press - and teleport out.

There is no lockout on fast travel in combat. You can even do it while knocked down and on fire.

Speaking of enemy AI, I was completely caught off guard today by something I wasn't expecting. A mob of enemies were coming at me and I was running away, laying a bomb remote bomb behind me. One of them was more ahead as the others were a bit behind. Instinctly I knew there'd be a bit of a delay between him reaching the bombs and the others reaching it. So I waited about a second before detonating it. Issue is, within that second, the dude kicked the bomb at me and I ended up detonating it on myself, it felt like I was bested in terms of cleverness, and I was ashamed of myself

Holy shit how am I going to fight that
flying dragon
at Lake
Hylia

Edit: Don't need to tell me. I will figure it out...late game.

Wolf link Amiibo glitch?

I used my Amiibo, which has only entered cave of shadows but did zero floors with, and he spawns with 20 hearts! Like wow!

I am starting to play on Wii U... the game seems to be locked to either the gamepad or my tv. Surely I can keep the map on my gamepad right? Will that be unlocked? help!

Just spent about 30 minutes doing a run there only to get one-shotted by the big guy with the orb when he stands up and find out it doesn't autosave on the island. cool.

also how the fuck are you meant to get an orb into the sea shrine without playing tennis? ...oh, cryo, huh. fuck

I'm "stuck" in a very weird way; I've been trekking with a horse I found on a mountain range and now I'm on a pretty sheer cliff along the ocean with no beach. I almost lost the horse (left it behind) when it fell into the water and it couldn't climb back up the cliff.

My predicament is that I've been through so much with this horse at this point, I just can't leave it behind. I almost did at one point when it was stuck on some geometry but when I started to leave, some how it swam around and climbed up on some lower rocks. Maybe it's because I have stabled it yet, but it won't listen to me whistling for it so it's hard to get it to follow me. I occasionally am able to lead it with apples but I'm about to run out and it doesn't care about apples when it's swimming.

I may be able to swim around these cliffs to a beach and get the horse to follow me but it's not very reliable.

It's crazy because I went on a crazy ride up a mountain I wasn't prepared for (too cold and dangerous) and as I tried to cut across to my destination, I was faced with steep, slippery, snowy cliffs I might not be able to climb back up and lots of apparent dead ends. Some how I was able to make it to the bottom of the mountains but now I'm at these oceanside cliffs and it seems like I might not be able to make it back with my horse companion.

Even if I have to leave my horse behind, what a crazy ride it's been.

Before I started playing, one of the first things I wanted to do after leaving the Plateau was find Zora's Domain. I'm pretty sure they're in the SE but I just find myself fucking around going anywhere but SE. Reviewers were right when they said it was easy to get sidetracked!

For swimming it doesn't make sense to me because unless you're fighting the current you can IRL float in the water and catch a breather, even if not optimal.

For climbing though it makes perfect sense man, you're literally grabbing on to rocks using every muscle in your body not to fall lol

It takes me much more energy to swim, so much so that I don't enjoy it. Most of my effort goes into keeping afloat, so it takes a lot of energy for me to move on top of floating.

Is this the first Zelda you can actually jump in?
That just dawned on me.... crazy.

Maybe SS? But can't recall

Pro tip: register horses

This isn't very... "epic" or anything but I think if you tame and register another horse, then say you're going to keep it out after registering it, they'll collect and board your other active horse.

Edit - Oh you haven't registered this one yet... maybe try leaving a trail of apples and see if you can lead it out?

I love the game so much. Some of the shrines are really fun.

I loved the
Shatter the Sky
trial. At first I did something really stupid but then I figured it out lol.

YES YES YES! I navigated through the lost forest without any help or guidance of any kind, not in the story, not any guides or youtube, just my pure wit! This is fucking rewarding as fuck!

The weapon degradation definitely needs rebalancing, but otherwise this game is sensational. Going to be very hard to beat for GOTY

I just did this shrine. Great idea. I originally
thought I should use Stasis to freeze the rock then use a bomb to apply momentum.

I really liked the game in the beginning with the Great Plateau, but I find myself not enjoying it as much now after progressing a little bit. I think the story and characters are not that compelling so far. The premise started off really good with the state of the world being this mystery; Hyrule is kind of in ruin with all this ancient technology scattered about. Then all of that is explained to you fairly early on and ruined that. Now the mystery shifted to learn about
your life and relationships with your friends from 100 years ago because you have... amnesia
. It's a bit early for me to judge, but I feel like there was a missed opportunity here in how they could have handled the lore.

I liked that the shrines give something to do throughout the world, but they're no replacement for a real dungeon. I've just now made it to my first "dungeon" (
Divine Beast Vah Ruta
) after playing for a day and it was so underwhelming. If this is what the other "dungeons" are going to be like, then this game has the worst dungeons of any Zelda game.

I like a lot of the new mechanics, like cooking, and having gear and weapons to choose from, but holy shit the durability of these weapons makes Dark Souls 2 look forgiving in that regard. I've had weapons break on a single enemy! Are all these weapons made out of play-dough or something? I hope there are going to be more tools than this, because if not, then that is disappointing.

Speaking of Dark Souls, I appreciate the higher difficulty, as long as it's fair, but I'm at the first boss right now and this is some bullshit. Every hit from this guy is a 1-hit kill for me (I have only 4 hearts, since I raised stamina twice so far).
Once I get his health to about 50%, he goes into phase 2 and a cut-scene changes the arena. Depending on where I was standing at that moment, I can be dropped into a position where I have to swim to a platform for safety while he's entirely free to fuck me up with a single hit. It's a bit unfair that I can't move and reposition myself to get situated during that transition. The few times I've made it past that situation and managed to stun him again afterward, he collapsed over a portion of water where I can't even reach him because you can't attack when in the water
... fuck this guy.

A few questions:

1) Is there an hour counter somewhere?
2) Does each main area have a place to pray and use orbs?
3) I somehow got stuck in a zoomed in mode with my bow. Is there a way to get out of it?
Change to a different bow. It's an effect of the bow you're using.
