The weapons break way too easy. It's one of my main concerns with the game, you can get new super easy - but it's never as good as the one which just broke a second ago.

The idea is to force you to use a variety of weapon types and manage them for combat. I only use my best when I'm fighitng like Black Moblins or high level enemies. By the time they break, I probably found other solid things.

I can see why this is frustrating for people but I think, as the game goes on, it's pretty good for combat variety and tactical depth.

So just decided to climb Mount Lanayru since someone in the village said "Hey there's something up there."

I found a dragon. Was told to cure it so I shot one of its eyes. It flew up and now I'm stuck wondering what to do. Obviously some kind of boss, but I'm guessing I'm not prepared since I have 12 strength weapons and next to no more cold resistance meals lol.

^ only done the first dungeon but I loved it, especially because it's - like pretty much everything in the game - is a departure from the old template.

Anyone have an idea? For the Hateno sidequest.
Crickets are next to rivers often. Also if you're having trouble,
upgrade your scanner at the Hateno laboratory so you can scan for insects, helps a ton.

I just evaded about 3 guardians while climbing the tower near the castle, glided off while evading two again. Sneaked across a field, stealthily dispatched a Boko that was strangely on a horse, got spotted by a guardian, evaded him around a stone wall until he calmed down, figured the horse was tame so legged it to it, jumped on, bolted the hell out of there while evading like a dozen guardian shots and then stumbled on the stable I was looking for where the guy I was looking for was also.

What a game. It's the little things.

Shit i just did a really hard (for me at least) shrine. To begin with i had to go to a fucking mountain near it to enter it from the top, then it was a messy puzzle with water level and i ended finishing it by doing some trickery with the bow and falling at the last second into a door. I'm not even sure that was what i was meant to do lol.

Also there was 2 secret chest in this one. Couldn't get the second one.
Was is the one with a rotating platform with a beam shooting from it?

It's not a boss as such, just climb/fly after it and shoot the eyes on the corrupted spots on its body
.

You can follow it gliding! Dont worry, just like anything on the game its either harmless or can 1 hit ko you, there is no in between

Someone please tell me I can do more with the
house I just bought
(early to mid game spoiler?)

I did it... I went out and impulse bought a switch and Zelda. First time in my life I haven't saved carefully and planned my purchase. The hype has me.

Played for four hours yesterday and I'm in love. Totally glad I took the plunge.

12 hours in and I'm just leaving second village. More exploring than I've done in a long ass time.

Can someone spoil tag an answer for me. Are dungeons the worst dungeons of series? I've been doing shrines and I like them but I would hate for the dungeons to be three room shrines like someone told me. And do all shrines and dungeons have the same theme and ceiling every time? Thanks for answer without spoiling!

They're not the same, but the dungeons in this game are def the series worst. very short, they almost don't feel like dungeons.

Was is the one with a rotating platform with a beam shooting from it?

Yep this one!
Don't tell me if there was a simple way to finish it i'll be sad lol. I had to go to the next side with water on, put the barrel on top of the button, then create an ice cube at the exit, shoot the water crystal, but then the ice cube break so it's really messy to fall down on the right side of the door.

It sounded like me doing some trickery rather than doing a planned puzzle. But that's what's so lovely about the game.

I think it would have been solvable if you could repair your weapons for a high price. It would decentivize repair but gives you the option if you really want a weapon repaired. It still allows you to think on your feet in a current combat situation if a weapon breaks. Having the weapons go into a broken bin would free up space in your current equipment bin.

As it is right now, my weapon bin is comprised of powerful weapons because these are valuable (I don't want to waste space on low level weapons or will drop a low level weapon out of the full bin if I find a higher level weapon) and it decentivizes fighting lower level enemies.

Finally got my Switch and popped in Zelda for about half and hour.

Ran into a blue Bokoblin that killed me in one hit with full health.

Oh, this is going to be a special game. I can already feel it.

I just did that one about 5 minutes ago!

That's not how I got into it though, I didn't think about doing that! I completed it the same way as you, I couldn't see any other way of doing it.

I know that the whole "nope" concept is now a part of gaming culture, but I've yet to find myself in that situation.

Until now.

Just crossing the Hylia Bridge when that thing just came out of nowhere. Nope'd so hard outta there hahaha.

Brilliant game.

May have been answered already so sorry in advance; But, is there anyway to track how long you have been playing the game? It doesn't show up on the save file and unfortunately Switch does not have a play log. Thanks!

Just finished it, you guys were totally right lol. This game still amazes though. The random things you can find are just insane.

Master sword question:
Do memories reduce the amount of hearts needed?
Yep this one!

Hmm, I just shot a bomb arrow at the switch when the water level was low to get to the chest next to the sheikah.

So what's the solution to the warblers nest side quest?

I got all the rito to warbler's nest and they start singing, figured each one corresponded to the number of fingers on those rocks, shot arrows through the holes in that order but nothing happened.

The very reason I play Zelda are for its labyrinth like dungeons.

Incredibly disappointing to hear. I just finished my first dungeon. Apparently the others are very similar? Wow.

May just be my most
disliked
Zelda tbh.

go into the forests next to the village and cut the grass with a sword/axe and they jump out.

Perhaps, but I'm tired of the whole idea that you should force players to try different things in that way. I hear that argument way too much from people here and from developers as well. Stop it, I like this weapon, don't tell me how to play. There should be better ways to design variety in gameplay.

I do enjoy the game though, been playing endlessly for the last three days, but it's so frustrating.

from what I've experienced this is the case. They're still quite fun though.

Mt. Lanaryu was so fucking amazing.
Dat corrupted dragon fight. Though I was a little disappointed that the reward was just a shrine.
Then I was at Lake Hylia and saw another
dragon. This time a lightning one. I was just standing there. Watching him. Then I shot him with an arrow for one of its scales.
This game is so awesome. Can't get enough of it.

Those huge giants in the area directly east of Great Plateau gave me heavy Dark Souls vibes. Just the feeling of stumbling upon something that is way too advanced and intimidating. It was pretty awesome to feel that in a Zelda game.

A few quick questions:

Should I have gotten a horse before Hateno Village? Have yet to see a single one.

Are there more than two villages?

Should I save my ore or is it simply for selling? I presume there's no weapon or armor crafting?

Well its been a while since we had laberynth like dungrons right? Last few zelda games dungeons felt super lineal and it was easy to tell whwre to go next

The shrines puzzles are cool.

I'm gonna be able to download this in a couple hours finally. I'm REALLY excited but at the same time very dubious of a number of the design decisions as someone who was already happy with the Zelda formula. I really don't know what to expect, but I'm very hopeful.

hmm bomb arrow -_- ?
Each time i read this thread i feel like i'm missing everything in the game lol! I feel so bad at it.

I'm really bad at Zelda in general. This is still the longest i've played one i think. I got 11 shrines i think lol.

1) there are horses everywhere, you can find them right as you leva the plateu. They are not required and mlat of the time I dnd up leaving them around because I want to climb some mountain.

2) of course

3) save a few

My sidequest backlog gets filled so fast. And I have written down hints in the game that don't trigger side quests. So much too do. Where to start. /o

Twilight Princess dungeons were the best. Skyward Sword's were unique but felt a bit simplified. If I remember correctly, they were multi-roomed or layered, but only had one key or locked door.

Impulse purchases are the only way to live life. Congrats :)
