dont you get the camera at the start? Right joystick button...

Keep playing for the rest.

There aren't really spoilers in my answer but I always like to be extra careful

I thought you click in the right srick for the scope, I didn't know you could actually take photos from that?!

I am trapped on frozen mountains right now. I only have 1 spicy food left and my ice clothing isn't strong enough for this place lol.

I see what looks like a giant dragon maybe? on top of a mountain.

Update, I get down the mountain and run into a Hinox and I begin fighting it. Next thing, I see some horse looking man and he fires a shot at me with his bow and I"m dead in one hit lol.

Nah that's not right. The camera is a rune ability for your slate, like bombs. You get it very early on in the main quest progression after leaving the plateau.

You'll get the ability later.

Follow the main quest route. It's early on (well, if you don't get sidetracked...)

wooooooooow nostalgia goggles much

lttp was good for itz tiem but botw is 11/10 grteatest game ofa ll time

Dude you are mad salty in all these botw threads, chill out. Even if this isn't your favorite Zelda, for a lot of us this is quickly becoming one of our favorites. No one is saying the game is perfect but that doesn't mean we can't praise the shit out of it either.

Oh, I've never gotten that rune. Will you get it through just playing the main quest? Maybe I'm just too early.

Okay, thanks guys. What about crafting weapons and armour, do you ever do that? I've gotten like mechanical screws and stuff, I assume you don't cook that stuff, ao you're just supposed to sell it?

I got the chest, but I didn't get a shield. It was given me the stuff for Toon Zelda, not BotW Zelda. Oh well lol.

That's not really how that works, there's a lot of overlap. What's in the chest is randomly generated with each one having a rare unique item, and the non-chest items you get for both of them are the same.

More like this guy, even the setup is similar story wise.

Fuck, this game is satisfying! Just defeated the
Lynel above Zora village
. I must have died around 20 times before I learned how to dodge most of his attacks - wasn't even too hard after that. I wasted some good weapons and meals, but I got plenty of loot back. Love it!

Ok I need answers to a few questions. Can I cook at a fire I build myself? I keep having to find a pot then build my own fire next to it and light the pot with a torch. It feels like I'm doing it wrong.

Is there a fishing rod or do I just shoot them with arrows?

I'm pretty sure he was being facetious.

Very early on, yep. You just missed my stealth edit!

Edit: and then I missed yours! You'll use those for various upgrades, but not weapon or armor crafting. Hold on to at least 3 of each of those screws/cores/etc. sell minerals like Amber/opal

I completely agree. I haven't had this much fun playing a zelda game since playing Ocarina of time. But all games are different. But there's just something about this that gives me "ohhh man this is all new and exactly what I've wanted in a game for such a long time"

Yes you can char individual things by dropping them in a fire. It's not as good as cooking in the pot though.

I've been catching fish by chasing them...

Anyone know how to let Impa give you the orb? I tried sneaking in but she's always awake, even when it seems like she's not.

Can anyone tell me if you can keep playing once you finish the main story?

Your last save before Ganon is the only way, but it gets a star mark next to it to show you beat the game.

This is the best Xenoblade Chronicles game since XBX.

Discuss.

... Seriously this game feeds my Xenoblade desire so much. It's amazing how similar this game is. If you've never played Xenoblade X, I recommend it to everyone after finishing this game. There are things I like about XBX more and things you can tell Monolith learned and applied to this game.

Boss Spoilers Inbound. This game is kinda hard to talk about without spoiling cool ass shit. So tread carefully.

SO I just arrive at
Zora's
Domain
(location spoiler), its super pretty and continues the game's fantastic characters. So I have to go collect stuff and then there is this badass enemy that is too damn strong so you have to stealth your way around it or else get bodied. That already cool...but then
there is a boss battle
.

Holy shit. I heard that this was one area the game was lacking...and while it is early....no fucking way is that the case.

wow this game yall.

I gave this comment some intense side-eye.

Pretty much the only thing that's similar between the two is the very well-designed topography.

Using the camera to make your own bestiary is cool, but can you override the picture used with a better photo later on?

Disappointed there's no NPC bestiary, though.

Yea, I've been filling it out as much as I can. Not sure how close I can get but may end up trying to complete it since I'm enjoying the game that much.

omg I arrived at
Rito village
after a looong trek
and Dragon Roost theme started
, goosebumps. I guess it doesn't matter what order you do the beasts in, I hope this one's not too hard as it's my second one.

This game is really special. Exploring is so rewarding, not only with the shrines,
but also discovering trolls/skeleton bosses and even remote islands. Completing that Crusoe island stripped of your supplies
was one of the best parts yet.

At first I thought activating the lookout towers would be a boring affair, but some are pretty challenging to activate. Like this one
surrounded by electro wizrobes... in a pond. That felt a bit like Dark Souls actually. Luckily you can create ice pillars.

Few nitpicks so far:
- voice acting for the female characters is grating. Zelda, but Mipha as well
- cooking could/should go faster
- gotten used to the bow quick change, but it's still weird.

So I am at the
The Ancient Rito Song
shrine quest.

At 12h there is a heart visible on the shrine, what should I do next to make the shrine appear?

Wow. I thought XCX was a pretty bad open world game in a lot of ways, but going from Zelda to XCX would be pure torture.

All of the things Zelda gets right, XCX gets wrong. From game feel and control, to combat, to endless wordy crap narrative, to the fact that you end up being able to fly, trivialising the level / world design, to abrasive music all the time...

Literally the only places XCX is better is in the visuals and maybe voice acting department.

Yeah, for real. And like I said XCX takes its amazing topography and throws it out the window 30 hours in with the game-breaking flight mod. After which it becomes a fast-travel fetch quest simulator.

Been going at it alone, but I seem to be stuck so I'll ask:

Death Mountain:
Tring to get to the beast and made it to where the signs say its entry #8 next to a shrine. There is a large gap of lava that I can't pass and a canon where you put bombs in but does nothing, even after hitting the switch to move it. What am I supposed to do? I ask because of the signs I only saw #8 and #2. Am I actually supposed to go up the mountain a certain way through the numbers instead? I haven't met any Gorons on Death Mountain yet. i feel like I skipped a part.

I agree with basically all of this.

Hmm I'll agree with the fact that it's way more interesting to climb mountians than it is to get into your mech and fly over them.

I've put in a paltry 20 hours into X and have barely even started Chronicles but I've seen enough to agree. My first thought, after "damn that's beautiful," when I entered (area spoiler)
Zora's Domain was "damn, this looks so much like an area from Xenoblade Chronicles I've seen.

Xenoblade and this both have the issue that the main plot pales in comparison to the 'side' content.

You need to go to the Goron town before any of that will work. You're in a story quest area without the quest active.

The difference is that in Zelda its 'bad' story takes up an hour or two of your time. In XCX its utterly horrible story takes up about 40 hours of your time. It just doesn't get out of the way.
