Welp, just spent all of my rupees on the Sheikah Stealth Suit. Hope it is worth it.
Probably the best armor set in the game in my opinion. Sneak past enemies, easier to grab insects and critters, easier to mount horses, plus it looks cool.
The +2 upgrade set bonus increases speed at night.

How do you show
the painter guy in Kakariko where the fairy fountain is?
I've already visited the
fountain
, and I even brought back a few
fairies
and tried holding them in front of him, but nothing changes.

There is a quest later on,
he asks you to take a picture of it.

I feel the Perfect Parry and Shields in general are a wasted potential to add depth to the gameplay. Haven't finished the game yet, but according to my catalogue I've seen almost all shields.

Perfect Parry is a really cool mechanic that's restricted to long-range interactions. The risk reward is completely skewed in close combat since attempting a Furry Rush is easier, safer and offers the same result if it succeeds.

Shields have barely any difference between each other besides the wood/metallic aspect conposition. They don't feel unique. Apart of the
Guardian Shield
which reflects beams and the
Lynel Shield
which is also an attacking tool, there are no interesting properties being explored.

I feel the development team lost the chance to flesh them out a bit more. The shield attack could actually serve more purposes besides the extremely rare Shield Parry. Here are some ideas of the areas Nintendo could have explored:

Fire Shield: Shield Attack shoots a ball of fire. Fire resistance. Low durability and defense.

Light Shield: Allows Link to do the side roll (from tp) after the sidestep. Low defense.

Mirror Shield: Reflect most ranged attacks. Breaks instantly if hit by melee attacks.

Magnetic Shield: Hold Shield Attack to start dragging metal objects towards Link.

Surfers Shield: Increases Shield Boarding Speed. Low defense and durability.

Rito Shield: Shield Attack blows a small gust of wind that pushes objects slightly away.

Half Moon Shield: Shield attack throws Shield like the boomerangue weapon. Needs to be cacthed back.

Giant Shield: Two handed shield. Slows Link significantly. High Attack and Durability.

Octorok Shield: Shield attack shoots rock.

It's absolutely worth it. l often unequip everything except a short weapon like a lizalfos boomerang and just play like an assassin, sneaking on bokoblins and backstabbing them. lt also helps for horse taming, especially a very peculiar one.

Haha, I do the same. I like to use sheika sword and shield.

Finally reach Goron city...talk about it being hard O_O

I got lost and thought since I was near a shrine, meant I was near the city...No, I was near a shrine surrounded by lava with just 5 minutes left on my fire resistance. Did manage to find the right path...found the shrine and died right afterwards from fire burns :P The price to stay on goron city is high!! Damn Goron armor store extortion!!

Really getting distracted when I set mt goals toward somewhere. Is all 'Shiny stuff in the distance! That mountain looks suspicious...time ti climb! And enemy camp in the distance...attack!!!'.

i'm sad about (zora domain slight spoils)
the zora suit that lets you climb waterfalls is more like 'it will let you climb these waterfalls, the ones we mark that you are able to climb'. I want to climb like every damn waterfall, even these shitty tiny trickles in the east of the map.

Does every single pinwheel have a korok? Because there's some sitting next to tree stumps in hyrule field and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Just a yes or no is fine.

Why am I getting so Monster Hunter addicted to crafting armor to increase their levels? I took a break from questing to track down Moblins and keese for Moblin guts and keese eyeballs... :/

It's definitely worth it. As long as enemies don't see you, you can flat up just run behind them (not sprint) and stealth attack them. Doesn't work on the mini bosses though. Also you can basically just run up to wildlife and bugs without them running away.

I wish you could sell weapons. I'm actually just leaving decent ones in chests at the moment because I'm already lugging around 12 great ones, and
I have three in my house
as well.

Agreed, shields are a bit underwhelming. Why can't I at least make enemies stagger with a Shield bash? Also think that dodging is far superior to parrying since you don't get decked in the face if you mess up the timing. I would have loved to see the Helm Splicer from Twilight Princess back, now THAT was a satisfying follow-up attack.

Cryonis does this anyway.

There's one right by the ruins where you first parachute down from the starting area where I couldn't find anything, all the other have so far though so guessing I missed something

I agree I love seeing strong monsters in games that are more or less there to intimidate the player only for you to come back later in the game when you are stronger/better to finally defeat them. I love this aspect in series like Xenoblade and Souls too, as you said it makes the world more interesting. Plus for that Lynel you can just sneak by and grab the arrows.
You read my mind, those were exactly the games I was thinking of when I wrote my post.

To trigger a Flurry Attack, you need to dodge horizontal swings with a backflip or verticle swings with a sidehop, and you need to do it while they are in the middle of their attack animation.
Woah, can´t believe I didn´t know this! I thought timing was weird and that was why I wasn´t getting as many Flurry Attacks, even though I could get them consistently when fighting Lynels. Game changer! Huge thanks mate!!

Mhkay, I didn't know/forget that you had to dodge a specific way, depending on the attack. What about spear attacks? Do they count as horizontal or vertical?
If I remember correctly, every time I´ve triggered Flurry Attack from a spear attack it´s been by dodging to the side.

Cool ideas. How do you trigger the shield attack? I´m currently going through my 3rd Beast Shield and haven´t found how to do it. Also, parrying disarms the opponent, but Flurry Attacks only do so if the enemy is thrown to the ground (not sure, just my perception). I haven´t tried parrying an enemy which couldn´t be downed like a Lynel, maybe if you parry he´s disarmed?
I´m going to start parrying more, so far I was only using it to reflect Guardian lasers.

Yeah I agree, I often have too many good weapons and when I pick up another good one I need to debate whether I want to replace something or not lol it's not a bad problem to have though.

You can sort of do something similar, jump forward and attack mid-air to make a plunge attack. You don´t need to be gliding before you do it, you can just jump from the ground while locked onto an enemy. It´s a very nice way to break their guard or make enemies flinch when you´re surrounded.

What? I have no idea what the seeds even are and I just left Plateau. Can someone just tell me what the deal is with this.

I won't spoil you yet what they do, if you don't encounter samba korok soon, you can come back and ask again. You should meet him near a beginner stable.

Yeah that guy wiped the floor with me the first time we fought. I got some new armor (Hylian armor - the cloth one, not the metal one -, before that I only had clothes), two more hearts (from 6 to 8 iirc), wooden weapons and some Electric resistance potions. That was juuuust enough to survive a single hit from him. His second phase involved a lot of running around like a chicken until I figured it out, but it was really satisfying. The ability you get from there was really worth doing that one first though, it's amazing.

I don't think I've ever a played that evoked so well the joy of wandering around in the wilderness. The wind in the grass, the small animals and insects... this game is something special all right.

Tiny nitpick: I think the sound of Links footsteps and gear is way too loud in the audio mix.

holy shit, i tried to spur my new horse on when he was exhausted and unlike my gentle companion of before he reared and tossed me down a hill

Anyone else feel the music is lacking? I only seem to notice music when I'm near an enemy, in a village or the very few piano keys at the
temple of time
(Which is really nice actually).

I want something epic when I walk through the open land.

Only about 7 hours in so hopefully it changes.

Music is sparse when you're just out exploring in the wilderness, but when something big happens the music will kick in and when it does it's great.

Yo I just did the first 'main dungeon' (calling it this for spoiler purposes) and wtf man- it had good puzzles but thats it? One room? I thought we would get some massive dungeons with multiple rooms like OoT. Remember the Water Temple etc?

Man that's what this game is really missing- those big ass dungeons. Unless things change later on, that's quite disappointing for me.

And knowing how the shrines work, I imagine the other 'main dungeons' follow a similar format.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan

Yeah, that was the only boss I had trouble on. Everything else I one-shotted, even the final boss.

My problem was not understanding when the appropriate time to dodge was, made more difficult by the boss' melee attack being a sort of invisible teleport. What eventually worked for me was not trying to get a perfect dodge for the flurry attack, since that was inconsistent, but instead dodging right as soon as the boss began the attack so that I'd have enough time to recover from the dodge and get an attack of my own in before he teleported away.

I feel it is a little lacking, it's nowhere near as memorable as past Zelda games for me so far, but that might be due to the lack of an overworld theme. The music that does exist is gorgeous, I just want more of it. I'm about 30 hours in.

Does lighting all the lamps in H
ateno
do anything?

Yes..it's a quest/task or whatever.
