Lol y'all need to adapt to the rain...embrace it! In other news I guess I had the wrong shrine I'll mind when y'all referenced Golf. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. Found shrine with a trial called
Speed of Light
. Found a basic treasure chest then solved the puzzle floor switch. Then I walk through the gate and was about to talk to the elder when suddenly I spot another chest. There no immediate way to get it since its ok a balcony. Stumped.

you can set a bomb next to the switch, then go through the shrine normally and once you´re at the final part next to the chest platform detonate the bomb, so the water level rises. Then just create an ice pilar to get to the chest.

Haha, yeah I did that area today too. Sounds like you enjoyed it a lot more than I did :p
It was so awesome! One thing I´m liking about the game is how every small adventure like this has a grand finale. I mean, Nintendo could´ve just made a dark area
and make you find the orb
, but they went the extra mile and created a memorable end sequence by using a standard strong enemy. They fucking nailed it.

I will put this in spoilers - it's about a certain unbreakable weapon:

So I accidentally read that you need 13 hearts to get the Master Sword - do these hearts need to be permanent or can you cheat the game with meals that give you additional hearts for a while? If not, it will take my a while before I even start looking for it. I think I have still 8 hearts right now.

To me he said "I'm too tired to continue, but it should but just ahead". (in reference to the fountain). The fountain is easy to find.....I paid the 100 rupees and took a picture then showed it to him. Then he says the point of interest is just to the east between two nearby mountains....and I couldn't find it

haha, that was a weird misunderstanding. I said "Point of Interest" because i was too lazy to write and spoiler tag
great fairy fountain

You mean the "memory", right? That one's rather easy to find as well, though. You have to have activated the respective quest first, though. (Talking to
impa
once you upgraded your sheikah slate) Otherwise there'll be no 'marker' that triggers the memory.
When you move to the east there's a similar kind of
gate
as in the photo, then there's a water filled canyon with plenty of enemies, further east, you'll see another such structure ahead of the plains west of the snowy peak.

(again, i'm assuming we're talking about that 'point of interest' right now)

The Master Sword ignores all forms of external enhancements. Base hearts only.

I really don't get how poeple can defend the system. On top of being annoying, it affects the way you approach the game pretty dramatically. No longer are you willing to run around as link and smack things with your sword to check them out, or break pots/boxes/etc... It sucks.

For me it's really good design choice to be honest. Yeah it's annoying at first. Like not having glider at first is very anoying and shows how weak the player is at the start. But it ties very well to mechanics of a game.

For one it gives very good reason to hunt for those korok seeds, and to look for certain NPC to expand the inventory. There not simple nuisance but important collectable for a change.
It forces player to use every tool available. And it's actually the main reason why strategy in battles and outside of them is important. The biggest strenght of the game is trying to overcome obstacles in creative ways, and the sense of acomplishment when you do. Having weapons not brake would detract to much from the experience, because there would be no incetive to be creative. The game would become dull very fast.

And I've yet to encounter a situation when i couldn't tackle enemies because of weapon break mechanic. There's always another way.
There's a storm and you have only metal weapons? Sneak up and steal the enemy weapon, or pick up that giant create and throw it at him, or maybe there's giant rock nearby you can use, or a electric chuchu that can zap him, or use a bomb, or drop metal object nearby so the lighting would hit him etc...

The other important thing is laso learning to fight. Started with simple button mashing like in any other zelda. But when I've learned how to properly parry and avoid hits in order to slow down time. And it changed things considerably. Never would bother learning this stuff in the weapons didn't break.

Also throwing nearly broken weapon at the enemy never gets old.

Is this girls recommendation of three fireproof elixirs to reach the Goron City an accurate amount?
I only used one as on the way there there's a small
Mine where a guy will give you fireproof armor if you find 10 lizards, and there are like 20 lizards within 50 feet or so.

I get bloodmoons frequently. Comically frequently. 2 or 3 times in a row sometimes. It's very buggy. If only they had time to test the game

Also it's unforgivable that they force a cutscene and will reset whatever you're doing (carrying a torch for relay? poof it's out. Riding a sandseal? poof it's gone. Fighting a world boss? Poof it's reset). There should be no cutscene after the first time and any monster in your immediate area should not respawn, it should only affect things not right next to you.

Actually one thing is wrong! you still ride your sandseal as before when the bloodmoon happens.

My only meaningful complaint with the weapon inventory / durability system is treasure chests and other quest rewards. I hate that you open a chest, find out it's an item type that is full up, it closes, you sort your inventory then re-open it. That process just needed to be a little faster.

There was one point where it actually really pissed me off. There's various mini-games you can play scattered around the world, and one of them I did for a while to get a certain "score" to get the best reward - and when I finally did, the NPC was like "I would have given you this item, but your inventory is full, so here's rupees instead". I didn't even bother to try the mini-game again. I was really surprised they didn't just spawn a chest in that scenario so I could have cleared space and received the item.

I have a question about heat resistance:
yesterday I reached the general area of Death Mountain, and was able to glide to a shrine to get at least one warp point before I went up in flames. I made one strong anti heat potion, but could I have gotten heat res. armor by now? I have 12 minutes so I'll try to make it to the tower and maybe spot some other shrines.

In all these hours I apparently only found 3 bugs to make a single heat elixir of. I had lots more for the cold.

Did some shrine quests yesterday and some are pretty involved. I loved the one where you get
all the singing rito kids together.

Yeah, there are two places near you that you can acquire heat resistance armor:

1 -
At the first mine you come across on your way up the mountain, there's a Hylian wearing a funny brown helmet that kind of looks like an old stove on his face. It's the helm for the Flamebreaker set - he won't give it up, but he has a spare chestpiece and he'll trade it to you for 10 Fireproof Lizards (which are in abundance in that same location, both walking around and underneath rocks).

2 -
There's an armor shop in Goron City that sells the full Flamebreaker set. Be warned the helmet is very expensive (I believe it was 2,000 rupees).

Huh, I ran up the mountain and didn't notice anything but enemies... is it at the base of the mountain?

All you really have to do for the walking ones are just tear each individual limb apart ala The Incredibles style, to my knowledge they don't have any melee attacks
I'll put that on my list of things to do: Swordfight a Guardian Stalker. Sure there are other ways to beat them, but it's also a matter of settling a score. It's their turn to fear me now. As it should be in an open world game with progression. I'd be disappointed if they didn't become manageable at some point. Heck, I wonder if you can make it survivable to get shot by them. That'd be a way of settling the score. Take a blast to the face, then run in with a sword and tear them apart.

Why the fuck did they say that there weren't any towns or villages in this game when there are a bunch?

They never said that, in that they officially said they took out people on the field too just to avoid spoilers and focus on gameplay.

The way they handled the marketing was brilliant. FFXV and MGSV hyped me up so much, but they did so by showing way too much, by the time the games came out, nothing was a surprise.

With Zelda... pretty much everything is a surprise. It's incredible how they pulled it off. I've found so many things I had no idea was in the game, and it's made it one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Hm... how far up the mountain are you, exactly? Like are you following a path that has Death Mountain marker signposts and stuff?

Way past that. I already went uphill, then decended to a shrine where I already took heat damage. So pretty close to the volcano itself. Think I need to go south to find it.

Parry is the best and easiest way to beat guardians by far.

Best to use a guardian shield when doing so though

I remember my pessimism with all the "this is only 2% of the final game" or "you can go there" talk. Not that I didn't believe it, I just thought it wasn't a big deal or not necessarily a good thing. Nintendo really turned my expectations upside down.

Gotta love this game, reviews were spot on about how easy it is to get distracted (light spoilers)

I started playing at 11pm and just finished talking to the
Zora King
, was super excited about getting started on the water dungeon, my first dungeon after putting 26 hours in the game, I told myself I will probably complete it tonight since I'm trying to go to sleep around 2am.

Went up to grab
shock arrows
from the top of the nearby mountain, looked at my map and noticed that I was close to a shrine that I had marked on my map, I had spotted this shrine from a distance a while back but never got to it because it was too far and I got side tracked. Since I was so close, I decided to paraglide down to the shrine and told myself I'd teleport back to
Zora Domain
and finish the dungeon once I complete the shrine.

I get out of the shrine and I see some ruins nearby, there is a korok puzzle, I figure it out and I also find a traveler's sword in the ruins which reminds me of the
sidequest in Hateno village for the little boy
, I don't want this sword to take inventory space during my first dungeon so I teleport to
Hateno, give the boy his sword. I realize that I now have 3k rupees which is enough to buy the house there so I also check off that sidequest.
And since I completed that additional shrine, I make sure to find the praying statue and get myself another heart container

I teleport back to
Zora Domain
and I am finally ready to tackle the first dungeon, I look at the clock and it's almost 1 AM! Fuck it, dungeon will wait until tomorrow and I'm not even mad, I love this game.

Same.
I'm usually not very fond of open world games to say the least because I often feel like a lot of it is just pointless filler between one quest objective to the next.. but I'm honestly really enjoying my time just exploring this world.
It feel very handcrafted and it's far more interactive than the worlds in most open world games are, and for me at least those two things have made a huge difference.

Also, the whole being able to climb everywhere thing is a lot of fun.

I'm like 30 hours plus 3 beasts down and only have 4 seeds. Any tips? I believe all the ones I got were pretty much from climbing to weird high places.

Gave up on the last battle shrine (for now). However, got to Goron City and just solved a shrine with the "could give a fuck" method:

The last room of the shrine required some leaves to be lit on fire which would release and drop a wooden barrel with which to hold down a switch. Another switch dropped two lanterns suspended by rope over a hole. Should they fall into the hole, they'd shatter. It's too late for this bullshit, so I just ran back to an earlier part of the level, set a wooden Bokoblin weapon on fire with a lantern, ran aaaaallll the way back, and lit the leaves myself. Chuckled a bit at that working.

You could also just drop a flint and hit it to spark the fire :)
And as usual with this game, I did it a third way.

Tried Magnesis on the lantern, but the rope was too short. But if I cut the rope with an arrow, the lantern would fall into the pit. So... First Stasis the lantern. The shoot the rope with an arrow. Then switch to Magnesis and catch the lantern. Then break the lantern against the leaves

Stasis is such a wonderful ability. So many shrines you can just outright break with that.

Yeah but it's also because Zelda is much, much more varied in landscapes, situations, dungeons, shrines, NPCs, gameplay mechanics and so on that only showing the plateau was enough.

lol whaat?? take time and explore off the beaten path. investigate everything. found more than that before leaving plateau

Oh man, the puzzles you need to solve to get them are everywhere. Sounds like you've missed a lot.

Look around the environments - do you see anything that looks conspicuous? Any strange arrangements of environmental features? Suspicious looking rocks or blocks? Any pinwheels around? Look closely at them and think about how you might interact with them.

There's more types, just don't want to spoil them all. To quote Zelda 'open your eyes' :P

Erm it has nothing to do with gear. I already have that gear you are suggesting about.

I am talking about a certain section there that leads to a dungeon, for all other 3 dungeon it was good and fun, this one was just boring and annoying.

Was just general advice - I guess without knowing specifically, spoilerey, where you are, I can't really comment!
