Mass Effect: Andromeda PAX Livestream

I was hoping for some non-spoiler coverage, specifically a multiplayer livestream. Will they be streaming the multiplayer demo that's on the floor?

Do we know how many explorable worlds are in the game? Is it similar to DAI world structure?

We don't know for sure but I feel like 7 is the number that keeps getting implied.

As for world structure... probably too early to tell but I think from the PAX demo it seems like at least from what we saw there's much more stuff to actually do in the world.

For all the shitty animations, etc... I know I'm going to spend quite some time in the codex, just looking at the footage from the stream and it looks great.

I can't believe there's Turian calibration coils. I see you Garrus! That's hilarious.

If that's true then I've officially lost all interest.

As petty as that sounds, a joke like that just reinforces what I've been fearing: that they're just going to heavily and ANNOYINGLY reference the original trilogy throughout this game as a cheap way to get fans on their side.

"Remember this tired old meme??? Isn't it still funy!? High five!"

It seems pretty petty considering that it's a junk item. Nothing else in the stream called back to the OT, they seem pretty focused on what they got.

I mean it's literally just a vendor trash bit from looting.

The previous Mass effect were already referencing themselves it nothing new. Beside Andromeda is so far removed from the trilogy that it probably will try to bring back as many thing as it can

Thing is, they seem to be genuinely avoiding that. Most of the OT stuff seems concentrated into that one historical archive section of the Nexus.

Maybe, but combined with Giant Bomb's coverage where the opening literally name-drops the Citadel to describe Andromeda's hub city, I'm left with increasing dread.

I was hoping for a fresh start with new alien races that also serve as party members, but so far it's "Hey look, a bad-ass Turian! A grumpy Krogan! An Asari, only this time she has a dumb name! Sorry, Quarian fans, you'll have to wait until part 2!"

They based their design of their station off of the most successful structure in their galaxy, I don't see what's wrong there. You know this starts out as mission conceived slightly before ME2 right?

You're also ignoring the actual new race in that party member line up as well trying to make Vetra seem like Garrus because they're both Turians with eyewear?

This seems kinda unfounded to me, you watch the livestream yet?

Might as well make a new IP if they were doing that. Everything being unrelated to the trilogy setting would make no sense lore-wise

?

You mean like what they did from DAO to DAI? (Bull mentions an alchol gift for Oghren in it).

I mean references are nothing new.

If you were looking for a mass effect game without any mass effect in it, I'm not sure what to even tell you.

That must be some new level type of Gaf hyperbole right there!

When traveling 600 years to an unexplored galaxy looking for a new home with the expectations that you will run into hostile life forms, it kinda makes sense to leave with your own crew. You don't want to tell your pathfinder to wing it with whoever he can pick up on the way. If that were the case it would be the most nonsensical thing in the entire series.

Did you play ME1? The average number of conversations on each non-Citadel main planet is like 2.

I did. Wait, let's be clear, the claim is that there are 80 characters you could talk to throughout the entire Mass Effect game right? I know the side planets weren't fleshed out.

That's how I understood it. Sounds pretty believable to me.

Man, this Liam loyalty mission is pretty great. Loving the humor. Hope that humor is not just in this loyalty mission, but sprinkled throughout the whole game.

That humor does not seem like it should be in a Mass Effect game... and I don't mean that in a bad way. It's kind of refreshing.

This whole mission seems fucking awesome.
