Guess it takes a bit of practicing then because he constantly obliterates me with his laser. So far ain't no parrying that for me.

Just in case people are sensitive to enemy-specific strategy:
The best thing you can do is just not move at all. This will help guarantee that against walking Guardians that they always move to the exact same range from you, keeping the timing consistent while you're figuring it out. When you're at the distance they will always move to if you stand still, you basically want to hit A just after you see their eye produce the big blue flash.

Just hold ZL the whole time so your shield is up and you're locked on to it. Then hit A to perform the parry when the time is right.

Ok it worked once and destroyed my shield instantly. This is not going to be the way for me. I am going to chop his legs off and hopefully be able to hide from that laser. Just once I was able to. I was constantly under him and he couldn't see me. Of course another one had to butt in and ruin it.

MY GOD! I'm in Gerudo Desert and I was on a cliff and I saw some kind of huge thing just walking in the distance! The thing looks so big and like a dinosaur.

Oh and you can do the Divine Beasts in any order right? I'm curious about the Gerudo in this game so that's why I'm going here first. Lol

I went to the Gerudo valley first as well (out of chance mostly) and man if you're a fan of the Gerudo you're going to have a field day. The NPC model variety in this game is straight up insane.

I still don't know how Gerudo reproduce, though. :D

I love how link can be an asshole in some sidequests, like
the one outstide the gerudo city, with the guy trying to hit on you when you're dressed like a girl....

-give me your boots...
- huh... okay, but i'll with not have anything to wear
-give them....
- ok sure, do you think after that we could...
- just no way!

not sure if the dialogue is the same in english

The way Gerudo reproduce was revealed via a gossip stone back in OoT. The leave the desert and find a man to mate with.

I'd like to reiterate that Amiibos are bullshit and Nintendo should justifiably get shit for moving to DLC-style pay-for-content.

Cheers, I will keep that in mind as I have a Major test of shrine left undone as I just couldn't read the Lazor blast.
Keep in mind distance factors in. The central hyrule tower has three broken down gaurdians around it to get timing down. I guess save scum to keep sheild count up. I tear through sheilds in guardiann fights.

Lynel's are impossible so far from me. I found one in a high mountain and it wrecked me.

I used this approach to kill a Lynel while way under equipped, but if you mess up you'll likely be reloading a save. It also requires a healthy stash of arrows.

-Hit it in the face with an arrow, it will stagger

-Run up and press A to mount, spam Y to inflict damage
-The Lynel will from here run up to you, back off as it approaches, do a turnaround and come back at you(they do this consistently)
-Shoot it in the face again as it approaches
Rinse and repeat.

What's the deal with (South area of the world map)
Faron?
Everywhere I've been to so far has had easy to pick up narratives, this is the first region why I don't know why I'm here (besides the exploration taking me here) and just seems full of loot. Is that the nature of the region? Not complaining, just feels different from the other areas of the map.

I had a caring relationship with the Hebra region until I spent 3 hours trying to find the To Quomo shrine and resigned to a youtube guide. I hope to never step foot inside those insidious snow peaks ever again.

I know there are 120 shrines so it's hard for anyone to remember any particular one, but... the Dako Tah shrine in the Gerudo region is one of the worst.

It's the "electric path" shrine. It's not a challenging puzzle conceptually, but the layout is super frustrating and I've had to reload the shrine three times now because the controls were finicky and you can bottle yourself off in a dead-end area.

I'd say it's my least favorite shrine, but then I remember the motion control ones... hard to be worse than those.

lmao, I know this pain.

I posted about my suffering finding this very shrine, though I eventually found this on my own after a similar multiple hour path of spiraling out from a marker I set (which if you found this ping at the same place I did means you know just how damn far I had to go to find the actual access point).

I've never been a big Nintendo fan, with Zelda being only series that's ever really appealed to me. Even so, I lost interest in both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword after about 15 hours.

But Breath of the Wild - holy crap, this game. The best sense of exploration and discovery I've ever experienced. I cannot get over how a world of this size can feel so lovingly and meticulously crafted. Every time I've felt like I was going way, way off the beaten path, I have always ended up finding something fun, interesting or meaningful. It's seriously astounding.

I rolled my eyes when Nintendo reps used the tired "See that mountain? You can go there" line, as if it were something special. Now I realize that this game earns it more than any other.

Took this picture of Link looking at a double rainbow yesterday, got excited as I only saw it out of the corner of my eyes reminds me of the time when I saw one in real life...just without the wall climbing bit.

As for the subject of cooking vs eating raw food, eating raw food is fine at the start of the game or when you want to top up a small amount of health but cooking is the way to go in the long run.

However cooking is such a chore to do in the game as you have to first gather food, find a cooking pot and then guess a cooking recipe just for one healing items.

Is there any other cue other than the beep sound? As I am deaf and I can't hear them make that noise as all my focus is on reading the guardian.

React to the red targeting laser dissaperaring, its actually the same timing as both the red laser dissaperaing and the beep happen at the same time.

I think I despise Thunderblight Ganon.

Is there a trick to this fight I'm missing? Because at the moment he just warps up to me and shits on me no matter what I do. Perfect dodging doesn't seem to work, and the parry window's miniscule. In the first phase I just end up wearing his shield down by hitting him a bunch - I have to be doing something wrong.

Yeah I was at that Lynel on top of the mountain just now too. It wasn't my first divine beast and I already had six hearts and good weapons so I thought I was ready.
I wasn't ready.

Colosseum was fun, killed the
striped Lynel
and every low level mob had some variant of an elemental sword/spear/greatsword so stocked up big time on those.

You have to either dodge+flurry, parry, or just break his shield.

LMAO

I got to one of those apple donation statues thing and by the time I got in the menu to grab the last apple to hold in my hand my horse had already eaten all the other donated apples haha

Minor spoiler about an arrow type and the effect it has in enemies

Does anyone else feel robbed by the ancient arrows? Arrows that kill anything in one hit but takes the loot they would drop with them? I doubt it I'll ever use any of them because the type of enemies (like lynel arg!) that they're needed for are the enemies that drop the best loot! So what's the point? I guess it could get you out of a sticky situation but I doubt I'll ever use them.

I really love this game and it feels sooo good when it's perfect but damn the frame rate issues kick my arse I really hope it's fixable. Honestly I think I'd rather play the game in 720p than have the frame rate issues. But don't get me wrong this game is CLOSE to perfect. I still haven't done any of the main line quests and I've just been screwing around for ages!

All 120 shrines completed.

Now just waiting for that DLC while I do ... whatever else I can do in this game. Honestly just like playing it. And my % is only at like 24%, LOL.

I got too many mushy final dishes from experimenting that it's just easier to hit it raw.

I find if you combine stuff that you would use together in actual cooking, it tends to work out pretty well. I've gotten quite a few high powered meals from experimenting like this.

They are the ultimate oh shit button, also I pretty much just use them for guardians

Also I dont get the issues people are having with cooking, just farm up some durians and cook one at a time I farm once a day irl and I typically have 15 full heal with 4 yellow hearts things chilling in my inventory

If flurry isn't working out you can shield his hit and attack through his shield from there.

In phase two of the fight you just run away until his charge wears off.
