Man this little professor doesn't let me take a counting picture of her, she says I have to center it and yet I opnened my Sheikah binouculars and have centered her many times taken pictures and she still wont accept it, anyone please help.

That's the last I have to do. Just been putting it off because I know the endgame comes after. But I know what to expect from it on some level rather than wondering what monstrosity I have to face next and that fucking sucks.
Like if I had to rate the bosses on a 1-10 scale:
Goron Boss: 5
Zora Boss: 4
Rito Boss: 2
Gerudo Boss: 10

Honestly, it's really good.

Any tips for the Kass riddle where you have to
shoot an arrow through two rings? I've been trying to stand far away, aim at the top one and hope my arrow falls into the bottom one but this seems more difficult than it should be.

There are many rings in the field. Find one where you can see a direct line of sight between two rings.

Nothing's a requirement clearly as shown by this game. The question I ask myself though is if anything in BOTW better than the classic Zelda dungeon and the answer for me is no. The beasts are not better. The shrines are not a good replacement. So then why take away something that was the pinnacle of game design in the series, just for the sake of being different? Everything can work just the same in this game but with better designed levels and segments which dungeons would provide.

My dream game is this but mixed with the more directed gameplay sequences of past zelda games. Obviously using the new physics based mechanics.

Same opinion. What's here doesn't match the craft of the typical Zelda dungeon. The divine beast word rotation was interesting, but not a solid replacement.

And the bosses inside the beasts are meh. Mostly small AI with a few simple patterns to dodge. Very little need for clever tool use from my memory. Super simple and straight forward.

Amen.
If Nintendo, being impressed by the gushing praise BotW receives from critics and gamers alike, comes to the conclusion that the classic dungeons and focused, cohesive storytelling are no longer needed in the series, then I'm out. The shrines had some really clever puzzles, but sadly they were devoid of any charme or atmosphere. The divine beasts at least had different music but they also looked nearly the same (as did the bosses, just with different skins applied) and were much, much too short. Everyone of them pales in comparison to what previous entries of the series are offering. Overall I feel ALbW did the whole reformulation of the concept much better.

Thats where i sit as well. I would love this game if it managed to include Skyward Sword level Dungeons/Boss Fights.

Making a mid powered Unbreakable weapon/Shield the reward for clearing them would be great and wouldnt effect the balance too much. Especially with the bow still reliant on consumable arrows

The dungeon bosses are garbage straight up. They look sorta cool and were cool for one bout, but man otherwise super disappointing. If they can take BOTW but actually do more and more varied dungeons with different boss fights it would so insanely be my favorite game ever. Right now I like Skyward Sword and others more.

It's my new favorite Zelda game but i sort off agree i hope the hard mode dlc makes the dungeon and final bosses quite a bit harder.

Since this hard mode needs to be paid for i can't see it being just a hero mode lol the backlash would be insane it kinda already is that.

Increased/faster/smarter enemy and boss ai and more frequent attacks and maybe even new attacks would be ace. Plus some new survival elements for the open world would also be nice.

A very hard Zelda would be so cool. I certainly hope that mode somewhat delivers if so i don't mind the content of the first expansion of the dlc being a bit barebones. Because a hard mode in a zelda game is very cool sounding.

And about the dlc dungeon i hope it's way bigger than these current ones.

People here really kept trying to kill the Lynel during the shock arrow run? I only needed to get one-shotted by him once to figure out that I could just take the arrows and keep out of its sight.

It's hilarious that the first Lynel I encountered and beat in the game was the blue one. After that, all red Lynels are easy loot.

well the blue ones do give out good shit

I got a
40x3 Savage lynel bow
from one of them... Lmao. I can basically one shot any guardian in the game with this

It's ABSOLUTELY a fucking amazing game. I expect no less from Zelda and this is totally no exception. But when Aonuma said he feels they can do better? I agree. They can. And the ways they can do better are blatant.

Yeah the blue Lynel's loot is just so damn good. I still keep its sword, shield and bow up to now lol.

I think already this game beat SS as my favorite Zelda and game in general but there are a lot of things I'd like to see in the next one. This is a fantastic base and if we got more real dungeons I would be over the moon.

Im not finished yet and I cant wait until the DLC.

If a classic dungeon was dlc I'd shit bricks

The thing is, if you take this as a standalone ip it's a really good game. If you've played zelda before though you know what you like about the series and BOTW misses out on a few key things.

It misses out on a few key things for some people. Not everyone. I love Zelda and have for 30 years, but this new direction is fantastic for me. This is Zelda's Resident Evil 4. It's the biggest departure for the series since Zelda II.

Obviously there's a lot of room for improvement though. I don't believe anyone would argue otherwise. I've never been more excited for a Zelda follow-up in my life, as I can't wait to see how Nintendo builds on this formula.

Skyward still by far has my favorite story, dungeons, bosses, etc. Those are huge things for me that BOTW absolutely pale in. It does other things better but I'm one of those folk that doesn't consider the world size and such that major a selling point. I prefer the tighter environmental design in Skyward a lot more than just a big world. Luckily the world here is handled much better than most open world games, but I can't help but feel it's way too big and lacking that Nintendo polish in terms of pacing and other things.

It took me a minute to realize those weren't the only three rings and look on the other side of the road.

Yeah the blue Lynel's loot is just so damn good. I still keep its sword, shield and bow up to now lol.

yep, and lynels are actually fun to fight, they're way harder than guardians ( that you can super easily cheese)

now if only this game had darknuts... that wouldve been a damn nice enemy to fight

It's a great great game. I love it. But in terms of what I'm personally looking for in Zelda, it doesn't completely fit the bill. Most things do, and while I'm playing I'm loving it. It's impressive and then some. But when I consider what elements I love ABOUT Zelda, it's not all the way there. It almost is. But despite how great it is, and it's undeniably amazing, I can't help but, being a longtime fan, being gravely disappointed in certain aspects.

i really love the puzzles and concept of the beasts. putting link inside something where the beast itself is part of the puzzle is pretty damn neat. the shrine stuff ranges from simple to great. and i actually appreciate some of the motion control puzzles. when i played skyward sword, i felt like it was a massive oversight not to have more creative puzzles that revolved around motion controls.

thing is, i don't think you can do botw twice. making another hyrule that's enormous and explorable to your heart's content just won't work - so i think there will be a return to the formula with the next one, but it will keep some of what worked in botw.

Hey there's nothing wrong with having a preference. BotW is a fundamentally a different game than previous 3D Zelda titles and that inevitably leads to losing out on some things. Personally, I'm hoping some of the missing Zelda aspects show up in the DLC.

LOL i'm so dumb, used the Switch camera snap button...

Who knew almost 26 years later they would still be fucking Link up lol.

I think you guys demand too much out of this game lol. There's a reason why it took a really long time and several delays just to get this game out of the market. I'm all for something more, but there's always a next time and a next game or maybe the DLC, and with BotW's critical success then Aonuma and company will surely use this as a base and improve the formula going forward.

I think if this takes off well enough, there's no going back. There's plenty to improve upon, but this is kind of a new standard. I'd personally be disappointed if they went back to the old ways.

This is easily the best Zelda game since OOT for me.

Wind Waker is still my thematic favorite, but Breath of the Wild has a sense of wonder and discovery I haven't felt since OOT. I do miss classic dungeons and bosses, I will say.

It sounds like I'm down about the game and yeah, I am in ways. But I've been playing nonstop since launch and have loved every moment. I'm not ill toward this game. It's just that I wanted and hoped this to be the definitive Zelda.

It is in some ways, not really in others. The quality and imagination is there. But KEY reasons why I look forward to each Zelda just kind of aren't there. I'd give this game a 10 so far, no question. It's amazing. But I feel that way about most Zelda games and I guess I'm just still waiting for that one that stands heads and shoulders above the rest.

This game does not do that. But it sure does come close.

I think a traditional 2D game from the "3DS" Zelda team on Switch would be cool.

But this is definitely the new 3D Zelda standard. I wonder if the next game will take place outside of Hyrule though. It kind of has to be in a new location, I feel.

check the coliseum ruins just northwest of the great plateau. wasn't expecting to see one there, so it was a nice surprise and a good fight.

Depending on where you are in the game the lynel upgrades in the coliseum and scales with your progress. Eventually it is the hardest silver lynel in the coliseum.

Will they though? I can see them continuing the physics stuff, sidequests and open world. But every Zelda game has a unique hook. Here it was the wilderness, open world, exploration etc. That might return, but don't expect what you really like to make it in every game going forward. It really depends on which world they create for the next game.

Man the 2h sword charge attack is so OP. I just killed one of those major test of strength mini guardians in all of like 20 seconds by just holding down attack and spinning around.

If this game did the open world aspect but with a variety of traditional dungeons, bosses, enemies, etc it'd probably be my favorite ever. It's what I thought the game would be. But a lot of my favorite Zelda aspects I think were lost in the developers trying to compete with other open world games. Metal Gear also fell prey to this.

Don't try to compete with Witcher or GTA. Compete with ZELDA. Compete with Metal Gear. Don't try and outdo something that is totally unrelated. This is the problem I think Breath of the Wild ran into and it's just not necessary at all.

so far, without having beaten the game, i think they could improve upon:

1. context. the story and how it's presented is pretty weak (a collectathon, eh?). it feels like ocarina of time in its simplicity, and aside from zelda, the main cast lacks charm that you'd find in skyward sword or the wind waker. and while townspeople are funny and interesting, there's no overriding theme like in link's awakening or majora's mask that puts all of their lives into a different context.

2. inside places and things. hyrule castle is pretty neat in that it feels like a dungeon you can explore. i was actually surprised by that and enjoyed the hell out of running around the inside of the place, exploring its nooks and crannies. more caves and secret minidungeons would be neat.

at least, that's all i can think of off the top of my head. there's a ton the game already does and it's surprising how much is in here. wandering onto eventide and discovering (to my horror) that at four hearts i was going to have to clear this place starting from scratch. there's a lot here that makes the game actually feel like an adventure, when there were glimpses of it in twilight princess and the wind waker, and none of it in skyward sword (which is basically if zelda was super mario galaxy).

It really depends on which world they create for the next game.

When OoT became a gaming darling the next home console Zelda games followed that pattern up until now. So I wouldn't be surprised if the next one does follow the "open-air" aspect of BotW.

And of course there will be differentiating factors for the next Zelda for sure. Maybe the next game will be "open-sea" for all we know lol. Or maybe the next game is not set in Hyrule. There's just so many possibilities with the current formula they've built in this game to play around for the next games.
