Nier Automata Steam Page/Pre-Order Live, releasing March 17th

Nier Automata is already released in Asia on PSN in Japanese/English. The cheaper English/Chinese/Korean version in April is the second release. Stop making excuses for Square Enix. They clearly just don't want our business and they're making it clear. It doesn't matter how good the game is, but if they don't want to sell it, we don't need to buy it! #FuckNier

can we buy it from GMG with global key and activate it using Asian Steam account? or they won't allow it to be activated also?

You probably can, but that's like going to a club with a sign that says "NO ASIANS" and a bouncer standing there to turn you away, and then still wanting to get in and paying a third party the entrance price so he can slip you through a side door. #NoSelfRespect

Yeah. It's also not an option for me. No credit cards. No purchase from me it is.

i wonder this is Square's problem or Platinum's
there's no MGR yet at Steam store but most Square stuff is available

I think it's SE.

Which part of Asia are you from? For me, earlier FF games like III, IV, V, and VI as well as XIV aren't available on my Steam store.

Nope. I tried it and got this:

Kind of understandable from XIV, because it's still not a global service game.
But 3-6 are bullshit, they are all on mobile.

still dreaming playing this game with smooth 4K@60

Welp. A good friend gifted me Automata on Steam. I have the PS4 version but haven't gotten very far into it due to Zelda. Let's see how much the graphics improve this Friday!

Some place called CJS CD-Keys, I don't think I've used them before but they seem pretty legit.

If they're a third party key reseller then they're probably not "legit" and probably profit off of defrauded or stolen keys.

EDIT: isthereanydeal seems to indicate that Gamebillet has the cheapest legitimate US key of Nier Automata available at 55 dollars, although I've never used them before so I can't speak for their reliability https://www.gamebillet.com/nier-automata?affiliate=1c8adfeb-78f3-4d89-9a91-5b697ec73e37

Something off with their tracking, probably because some sites have it listed as Day One Edition. It's 50 bucks at GMG (and they are sending out random 5 percent vouchers for it too).

Got any voucher codes handy?

No, and IIRC they might be account bound. They sent out emails like 4 days ago. I have 2 accounts there, the newsletter went to both, but only one had the voucher (the account I didn't use much). So might be a "come back to us sort of thing."

Still worth double checking your clutter/junk/spamm folders in case you missed it.

By probably I assume you mean possibly. Levying such an accusation against every 3rd party reseller is pretty silly.

Thanks. Nothing in my inbox or other folders, but like you said, it might be those come back to us deals.

EDIT:
Looks like there is some voting thing on GMG that gets you 5% off vouchers. Worth a try (https://www.greenmangaming.com/clash-of-the-titles/best-celebrity-appearance)

Yeah, my friend said that it might be on Platinum considering their track record recently. This is sucks and infuriating regardless.

What track record exactly? The track record of having nothing to do with the sales and marketing of the products they are paid to make? :P

Well, I guess I've just found another fellow countrymen in Gaf.

Metal Gear Rising is blocked, but I guess that's all from Platinum as Korra and Transformers are available here. TMNT wasn't locked either as far as I remember, but it's now been removed from Steam for all region. So far it's 2 blocked games out of 5, so it's not really a track record. Not sure if I'm missing anything else though.

Well MGR never released on Asia while MGSV does (albeit at stupidly high price here). There are some unavailable SE but most of them up on ths store. That's why I'm uncertain but there's definitely something there. Either way, it's infuriating to see your region exclusively blocked on Steam :/

I don't understand why is it always big Japanese company that keep doing this shit. Compile Hearts, Idea Factory, and NIS always have their game available globally from the start. Heck, KT let their japanese/chinese version of RoTK XIII available to all region.

I decided to try to play all of Nier on 360 during the week before the Steam release.

So far I'm completely bogged down in sidequests and have spent half an hour trying to figure out how fishing works. I might have to try out first-hand the experience of playing through both at the same time.

Reposting from OT:

Been playing for god knows how many hours.

Some of the best world building and characterization in this industry.

Soundtrack is overwhelmingly good,GREAT npc writing, stellar crisp combat.

Guys please buy this. This team needs to stay together, keep making games and getting big budgets.

Definitely platinum's best game by quite a big leap.

Take it from me and anyone who has played Nier. Don't worry about the sidequests because there are too many of them, many being fetch quests. Also, get all of the endings. Trust me on this one.

Because big Japanese publishers who don't have Asian business HQs are the ones who are most likely to cut exclusive deals with first parties to help with publishing efforts in the Asian region on consoles, which might involve them blocking out other platforms or limiting the form of release. It's stupid as hell, but unless they invest in the region themselves, that's usually the outcome. It varies from title to title. You won't see any problems from publishers who have offices in Asia, like Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo. For small Japanese companies, a lot of it is handled by the US localization companies or branches instead, and they are more focused on digital than retail, so they're not going to cut deals which lock out digital sales.

HURRY UP FRIDAY

Preordered on both Steam and PSN but I won't be playing until I'm sick of BotW. Still upset I missed out on that Black Box Edition.

That valve preorder item is great though lol.

Is it dumb I'm excited just to read more first impressions. Because after finishing the game on friday all I can think of is "I can't wait to hear people talk about this and that"

Also Nier Automata is my favorite game of all time and I've had time to reflect on that so you guys are in for some good game times.

It's pretty great. Speaking in terms of gameplay it's easily the best in the series and the OST is as good as the original Nier. While I personally don't care for the story as much as Nier or Drakengard 3 it's still pretty good with very on point messaging (don't take that as a negative. It's still good). Automata does Nier proud.

I bought two games there, they never delivered either despite being "instantly in stock". Luckily I was able to get refund, but know also some who they refused to refund, so prepare to deal with chargebacks.

Glad the preorder is up in Japan I was worried it would be the same case as the Tales/a bunch of other Namco Bandai games here in Japan on PC.

Sad to see the rest of Asia getting left out. Hopefully they remove this region locking nonsense. When I asked the NA Namco Bandai side about Tales of Berseria, they told me to talk to the Japanese/asia branch... which has no support email page of course -eyeroll-

Then go first party and buy it from the Square Enix store!

I'm a giant Nier soundtrack fan, and I actually think Automata's OST is better. I absolutely adored it.

Well, a better exemple would be one club doesnt accept you but another one does :p

Nope, there's only one club. The game is still on Steam no matter what. Even if I own the game, all the store pages and DLC will still say NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS REGION. What if there is an expansion later? It's one club, and a club that tells me I'm not welcome. No thanks.

Well, depends if you mean the Steam store or Steam as the ecosystem. But yeah, I'm not telling you this is acceptable, the situation just sounds like stupid. Makes you wonder if SE hates money.

This is the same company who chose to get a timed exclusive deal with XBox for Tomb Raider so no surprise here.
