The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

That's fair, it seems like there's less honey than diamonds in all of Hyrule.

But for the Electric Rhino Beetles, check around North Akkala. They tend to pop up in chains, so you can grab one and then the sensor will pick out another and another and another. I got 9 in a row, once.

Nice! Thank you!

To clarify, I will eventually upgrade everything (wanna be ready for that DLC!) but right now I'm just getting anxious to complete the story. There's still places on the map I've never seen (while finishing the Shrines I was like WTF so many unexplored areas!?) so I still wanna explore and dick around and complete all the side quests and maybe even get all the Korok Seeds. I'm just like jonesing to finish the story and I'm afraid if I try to get everything to max out that set of clothes it'll take me way longer than I want to wait to fight the last boss.

I really want to do the Tarrey Town quest but I can't find a Goron with a name that ends in -son, lol. No one tell me where to find them, I'll figure it out eventually.

It's
in the eastern mine on your way to Goron town, it's one of the workers
. In case you wanna know! :)

Amusingly I think the very first Goron I spoke to on Death Mountain was the one that was part of that sidequest.

Been playing quite a bit. Roughly 10 hours in now and having a ton of fun. However, I have to admit that the minimalistic music is kinda sucky. I want to listen to something while traversing this world.

Don't know if this has been pointed out but there's an error with the official Breath of the Wild guide, it incorrectly states the requirement needed for level 2 and 3 upgrade for the Amiibo Twilight Princess amour, only 1 Star fragment is required for each parts.

I also assume that the guide is incorrect for the other Amiibo amour as well as the level 4 requirement for the Twilight Princess amour.

Jesus the upgrade path for the Shrine reward is insane. I wanted to max it out before taking on the final boss but I feel like it would add another 10+ hours to my play time and I'm itching to finish the story. ):

Especially since shit like Star Fragments are totally random. Blergh.

If you have a Ganondorf, Smash bros Zelda, Breath of the Wild Amiibo then you can easily farm star fragment from them.

Regarding falling stars...

Occasionally I will hear a wooshing sound when exploring the world. It's a swift shwoosh noise. Is this the sound of a shooting star overhead?

There have been several times where I've heard that sound and immediately run for high ground to take a look, but I've never seen anything. But there have also been times where I have seen the shooting star and never found the pillar of light indicating where it's landed.

The way that Star Fragment works is that they will fall after a full moon and will remain at the spot they have landed till Sunrise.

Running around in the region north of Central Hyrule, Thunderstorm starts.

I see a new type of Lynel in the distance. White-Maned Lynel.

He's dodging the Thunderbolts that his gear is attracting =\

But man, what a battle. I only have 6 hearts (and 2 and 1/5 Stamina Wheel) and it took some time to figure out the AI (I had no fairies and he one shots me, regardless of what armour/defence pots I take) so I could do a no damage run. Got rewarded with some bigass 2H mace that has like 70+ attack, far better than the 20-30 damage swords I've been using so far.

Really did feel like Dark Souls because of all the parrying (as far as I know, Flurry Rush doesn't work on his attacks, never got slowdown ever).

I tried using Wolf Link but he was completely useless. One attack took off 19 of 20 hearts from Wolf Link. Poor thing never stood a chance.

God I love this game.

How'd you figure that out?

I was gonna wear no armor and know the attack power of an enemy weapon and see how much damage it took. Figures I could extrapolate that way.

I just remember someone else talking about it in one of these Zelda threads (probably Ragnarok), but I could test it.

Flurry rush definitely works on all Lynels, you just need to get the timing down.

Man, I really need to learn how to parry and dodge correctly. I always just run out of the way. It's so hard for me to get in the habit of doing the timing based stuff.

Well, just beat Ganon, 40 hours in. Beat him in one try! I beat all the bosses in one try :P

All I had was the Master Sword and the 4 Divine Beasts. Nothing special at all! I crapped myself when he entered his second form, but was glad to see it was more of a set piece than actual boss fight!

Ok, at this point I'll just ask. Where does hestu go after meeting him a second time? Found him near kakariko, near hyrule field, now my nuts are about to burst and need to unload on hestu, can't find him.

All four divine beasts down. All memories collected. 15 hearts and plenty of food.
Master Sword found
. Finally feel like I can take on the castle and finish this.

It's been a long-as-fuck journey but damn has it been good; expect a fairly lengthy write up in the coming days on some of the more unique aspects of the game.

Is there any reason to not use the shrine orbs to trade for hearts or stamina in the statues?

Hearts, no. Knock yourself out.

Stamina, yes. There's one very good reason: it'll give you a stamina meter that's only a fifth of a circle, and drive you crazy that it's not a full circle until you can find 20 more shrines.

And, if I've calculated correctly, once I fill my hearts all the way up (almost there), and find the rest of the shrines (almost there), the orbs earned won't equate to a stamina meter made of full circles. It'll be like...two fifths of a 3rd circle.

Worst. Game. Ever.

Best game ever

He goes to Korok Forest.

Speaking of which, the whole Lost Woods / Korok Forest area has been amazing.

Just went there as well and I definitely agree!

I've played around 70 hours so far and have done only two dungeons. I did reveal the whole map though and I'm just having too much fun exploring.

I'm adoring the game, but I don't get how people can have 75+ hours into the game with relatively few shrines and divine beasts. Are they just walking around doing nothing? Focusing on korok seeds? I've spent a good 30+ hours but I'm always sure to have some sort of objective and momentum to carry me through the game. I've done 2 beasts, 70 shrines, almost done with the photo memories, just a couple towers left to climb, tons of sidequests, got the master sword, etc. Feels like I'm burning through the game too quickly when people talk about spending so much time without any significant plot progress (then again I have to, hope to have this finished by the time Persona 5 comes out :P)

And I do take my time; walk or ride my horse to most places, take in the vistas, talk to people to see alternate dialog (one of my favorite things in the game is how context-aware so much of the dialog with NPCs is), not used guides for anything other than a couple puzzles... I guess it's just my playstyle that demands I have some objective to keep me entertained through the game. I kind of see it as a TV show with "arcs" so I always am going towards some objective, be it a divine beast, doing what you do at the springs of ____, etc.
Just hit 100 hours, no beasts done, still need to climb two more towers. After I unlock them, I'm just going to hunt shrines as I'm saving the story for when I get a switch next month. The game is really just fun to walk around in, I've never felt like doing this in a game before. I only use fast travel when I'm about to head into a new region so I zip back to other places to get supplies.

l thought it was a letdown. There's this huge mysterious place in front of you that makes you want to explore it extensively and at the end the way it's structured means it's an addition of linear challenges and uninteresting micro areas. lt also has the worst gameplay scenario in the entire game with the Korok stealth mission. Finally the way you stumble across the
master sword
felt very underwhelming to me, it actually reminded me of AlttP, l thought it was a fake and that the real one was further ahead.

l'd say it's my second most disappointing area in the game after Gerudo Highlands.

For anyone interested the game currently has about 60 10's on Metacritic and the greatest amount of unique 10's in history. Someone maybe should make a thread
I'm joking here

Edited for spoilers reasons.

Something I discovered about Lynels: after mounting them they will shake you off from their back. You can activate the Bow & Arrow slow motion to hit them a couple more times. It's also really easy to nail headshoots from the angle.

That's good to know. I got it locked in a silly loop of Stasis+ > Arrow Headshot > Mount > Free 5 hits.

It felt so good.

Flurry rush is harder to pull off against the mace wielding lynels because the hitbox is ginormous and the timing is more strict.

So far, 95 hours in, completed:

All Divine Beasts
All Memories
All Shrines
150 Korok Seeds
38 Side Quests
195 Compendium Entries

Wife wants me to wait till tomorrow when she's not busy to watch the entire Hyrule Castle portion of the game. I guess i'll hunt more seeds and do side quests for now!

I really hope there are more encounters like this.

Or they could just release a Hard Mode patch to make every encounter like this.

Yeah I never like (Korok forest quest stuff)
"follow somebody slowly and get neither too close nor too far" type missions in games. Especially frustrating in that area because the fog has an invisible boundary that'll take you back to the beginning if you cross it. No I wasnt lost game, I just wanted some distance between me and the Korok.
The little guy has cute dialogue at least.

Anyways just got to the Floria area and it's stunning. So beautiful :_:

I'm still running around in Stealth/Knight/Climber gear that's only been upgraded once lol. Then again, I've completely ignored the story and just running around exploring and hunting Korok Seeds.

Wondering if I should spend these Star Fragments on my Amiibo gear pieces.

I was hoping they made it just like ALttP's area. Couldve been an open ended lost woods area, multiple entrances and entrances full of secrets like ALttP. Random fake master swords with low stats that easily break wouldve been awesome and fit the game perfectly. It couldve started dark and dangerous till you eventually awaken the deku tree or something and the koroks fome out of hiding and it all becomes a good time!

Its usually my favorite area in Zelda but I wasnt too impressed with the way this one did things.

You don't get the set bonus with the diamond circlet so there is basically no reason to use it at all. Just get the helmet.

I use the diamond circlet cuz the helmet looks stupid.

:P
