I was like 50 hours into the game before I realized that different bows have different POVs. I started going into first-person at one point and thought my game was bugged.

They will
spawn more regularly as you get further in the game, kill more enemies of those types, and maybe other conditions.

How many hours, Shrines, Dungeons are you at?
About 60 shrines, 15 hearts, hours im not sure. I started to see white ones for the first time more but sometimes they are red and blue like normal.

I dislike that zoom. I would prefer the arrows simply have a more gradual arc.

I wish more bows had zoom. I love sniping enemies from really far away, but I haven't found any decent high power bows with zoom.

Granted, even if I did have one I'd probably stick with my Twilight Bow, but still.

My Royal Bow is about to break, and that makes me extremely sad. I know I can't repair items, but can I ever, ever get another one? Is there a way to eventually buy weapons and bows and the like? :(

Royal Bow is pretty common but once you use the Savage Lynel Bow it is difficult to go back to something else.

I just got to the Lost Woods last night and Korok Forest. The way I even found this place was just awesome. I was trying to explore Death Mountain, but didn't have any cooked Chillshroom food to stay cool. So I decided to glide to the nearest tower I could see. Got to it, activated it and it was the Woodlands Tower. Saw a pretty field of sakura trees in the distance, and said "I want to go there".

Quick aside: I was exploring earlier in the day and found the jungle region. I was remembering seeing the Master Sword in the trailers and how it was in a wooded area, so I figured maybe it was here, but probably not. I wasn't going out with the purpose of finding it, but it was on my mind.

When I discovered the Woodlands Tower, the Master Sword was back on my brain. I figured it could be here, possibly, but again, I wasn't gunning for it. I glide over to the sakura area and it starts getting foggy. I see weird trees and figure I'm about to get into some sort of swamp. And then it happened. The area title came up and I read it. "Lost Woods". I IMMEDIATELY knew there was an environment puzzle in my future. I saw the braziers and the embers blowing in a direction. My girlfriend was sitting next to me. I said "it's a wind puzzle". I then explained to her how this area is a in a lot of Zelda games and it's almost always some sort of puzzle. Ocarina of Time had music, Twilight Princess had a maze and battles, this time its a wind puzzle. I felt ready and excited. I lit my torch and followed the embers.

After making it through, I didn't really know where it would lead me next. I saw the area title. "Korok Forest". I got excited because I was really happy to see these guys make a return in the trailers. I had a hunch that the Deku Tree was coming up. But then, suddenly, it happened. The Master. Fucking. Sword. Just like that, I stumbled on it. I had no plans on finding it. I was just exploring this incredible world that the devs created for us. I legit just tower hopped for hours, finding shrines and getting orbs. And just like that, I find the sacred blade.

I couldn't pick it up, and I don't really know what I need to do next, but I'm currently going through the Korok Trials. My girlfriend helped me out with the constellation shrine and we both felt really triumphant figuring that one out. This game is just so fucking good and I cannot wait to keep playing.

Zolas were seen in 3D, albeit in a 2D overhead style game, as they were in Phantom Hourglass.

Yo, PH is totally underrated in my opinion. Such a charming game.

Should respawn eventually.

I don't think I ever came across this "first person bow" you all speak of. What's it's name? I've done all shrines, all memories. I'm surprised I haven't bumped into it.

More important question: any tips on looking out for star fragments? I need to start collecting them and random luck is. OT gonna cut it.

I hope they add Fishing Rods as weapons. Got excited when I saw a variety of fish but my dreams got crushed.

Also, crounching at the same for long periods of time should make Link sit.

Thanks. So, you say it becomes common, like a common drop? Or is there somewhere I can go to buy it?

I can't stop finding fucking Royal Bows. I don't even want them because Savange Lynel bows are so much better (esp. when they fire 5 shots instead of 3), but basically every Hinox I kill drops one from it's neck.

We encountered a funny glitch last night. An invisible wall you can climb through on a rock face on the SE, more E side of Death Mountain in Akkala. Is this old news?

Golden Bow. first one I found was in the Gerudo Labyrinth, just chilling in some Ganon poison.

Yea Hinoxes are an easy get for Royal Weapons. You can just glide onto their chests and grab them, too. No fight required.

I was just giving an example - my main thing is wanting to see the game's overall enemy variety expanded, whether through new enemies, classic enemies not yet depicted in 3D or staple ones updated for BoTW.

Though given how many different takes there have been on Redeads, for example -

- you can see how wanting to see them adapted for BoTW would entail a lot more than just updating an existing design; as opposed to reinventing it in a way that makes sense for the game's world. The jackal-like WW Darknuts compared to TP's design is another major example.

If I had seen redead on the completly black forest I would had run to turn off my wii U lol That place is creepy as can be...adding those things there would completly make it a nightmare just by their sound!

I saw a video where you can climb on the backside of a mountain in Hebra, but not in Death Mountain.

Which Lynel is the one in the Colosseum? It wasn't an easy one but I don't think it was the hard one?

Also, when I upgrade the Barbarian Armor does it also upgrade the strength up value?

finally got the game, loving it

my biggest complain is the lack of dungeons and bosses, is it because it's just the beginning ? i just reached kakariko village

No, the whole game is pretty much like that. There are a limited amount of them but don't expect anything worthwhile as far as those two elements go. Just enjoy everything else.

Yeah, both Hinox and Lynels are 2D Zelda enemies that make their first appearance in a 3D game:

Lynels go back to the original NES Zelda.

Oh! I had no idea those things from the older games were called Hinoxes. That's really cool! Lynels I recognized the names for right away.

Both really good updates. Lynels in particular had always been terrifying and they did a great job with, but the new Hinox is also really cool.

Phrenic Bow also, I've had a couple of those from earlier on in the game. Great for sniping off pieces of
the dragons
, since not only do these bows zoom, but their arrows also fly way way further.

Also, when I upgrade the Barbarian Armor does it also upgrade the strength up value?

The strength up effect doesn't increase, but at 2 stars you'll get a set bonus that reduces the stamina you spend on charge attacks. Also upgrading the defense on it is just a great idea in general because you use it exclusively for combat.

Did some exploring along the northern edge of the map, and found two(!) white mained lynels. Even though I know they don't attack until you draw a weapon, still gave a wide berth to them. I have a habit of unsheathing my weapons when running around....

Thanks for the info! Yeah, this is just a touch north from some small ruins on the East Side of Death Mountain, in Akkala, kind of just West of Shadow Pass. (BTW, there is some neat stuff around those slopes.)

We took some screen caps so I will share those this evening if anyone is interested.

NW of Death Mountain and then just a small bit further west for the second one, right? By the East Deplian Badlands. We couldn't take care of either of those fights yet, a bit too difficult. Minor intentionally vague spoilers regarding this area:

There is a small point of interest between the two Lynels, IIRC, and then east of that first Lynel there is something very cool if you haven't seen it yet. We were very excited to come across it as it was our first time finding this and we had looked for it for quite a while. Just a bit due south of the Western of the two Lynels is a pretty rad notable area on the map, unique of any we have seen.

Just got the master sword already I'm afraid to use it :(

Can anyone give me info on how long it takes for it "heal" ??? Cooldown time perhaps?

I just got to Kakariko last night and finally got some interesting clothing, shield and a cool sword in the Shrine.

I don't really mind the dungeons being different/lower key in BOTW. If Nintendo would have done the exact same massive open world AND 8 traditional dungeons, I don't think the game would be out until 2019. Maybe they'll release multiple DLC dungeons?

Got my Switch yesterday and played something like 6 hours of this last night and I feel like I've barely even scratched the surface. I'm gonna be playing this for a while.

Yeah, Lynels have been around forever but I'm just realizing Hinox isn't a new enemy. I love how they reinvented both for 3D. Especially Lynel, holy shit.

BTW, did anyone else see a Lynel teleport before? My very first Lynel (red) encounter happened about 20 hours in near the Promenade and he took a huge chunk of health on one hit. I said "nope" and ran away. He started shooting arrows at me as I ran away, but I climbed up a wall and "escaped" just in time before he ran up on me. Then as I reach a landing on the mountain side, he TELEPORTS there and starts harassing me again. So I just warped out of there.

I love Lynels in this game. Silver-maned ones still give me a lot of trouble since they're sponges AND change up their tactics based on what type of weapons they have.

im having a lot of trouble with the shrine Fateful Stars, any tips and hints? (without just blatantly telling the answer please). the board says "
look to the stars for guidance, the constellations are the key
"

ive tried making sense of the constellations on the wall, and the ones in the distance, but im at a loss

Try counting the stars in each constellation.

You have 4 balls, 5 holes in front of each constellation, can you see the constellations anywhere else?

Dude I've been trying. I'm on day 3 now.

I left and got some "blessings" around the forest and returned and still nothing.
It's just not clicking for me :(

Don't overthink, the solutions are usually very simple.

Some progressively more detailed hints:

-
There are a finite number of unique constellations, and multiples of each type
-
The number of stars in each constellation and the number of each type of constellation are relevant
-
The numbers of stars and types of each constellation correspond directly to the things you're supposed to interact with
