Stealing this

I think OP should earn a custom tag, like a scarlett letter or albatross for this lunacy.

As others have said, you're describing the Steam Machine.

Let's take a look a their success:
Ars Technica - Seven months later, Valve's Steam Machines look dead in the water
Digital Trends - A half million Steam Controllers in seven months is pretty terrible
and (most humorous of all)
Gaming Bolt - The Xbox One Scorpio May Be The Realization Of Valve's Steam Machine Vision

I worked in retail when the steam machines launched. In a few years I sold 3 units. One to a die hard customer around launch, and two that I had to wipe the dust off of last black friday when they were a seriously discounted 'doorbuster' deal.

Based on Microsoft's initial reveal of the One, they are extremely out of touch with what consoles should be and what console gamers want. It's pretty amazing how much ground they've made up considering that bungle, but they're nowhere near a place where they could 'rule' gaming. That's not even to mention their other glaring issues, like their first party portfolio or lack of development of new IP.

Consoles are great because they are plug and play. The architecture is fixed and there's no modifying anything. Any game available on the platform works on that platform. That all makes consoles easy.

Steam machines were this weird half-breed. Dressed up as a console, but basically a PC, and not even comparable to high end rigs.

That's what you're describing, and it will never be a good idea for consoles. Great for a PC, sure, but not a console.

Eventually they can lead, it's a big company with deep pockets and Xbox is a cool brand.

They've had "deep pockets" since 2001, and yet the most they've ever accomplished was tying with Sony, and that only happened cause Sony committed fuck-up after fuck-up with the PS3.

Lmao let's not get carried away OP.

In reality, I don't think any manufacturer should dominate the industry, at least not in the long run. Competition benefits all of us gamers, regardless of where are preferences are.

Didn't realize you spoke for all console players, but ok.

I'm just saying i don't recall the last thread here where people were talking about a PC exclusive and how great it would be on consoles or how they'd wish it came to consoles.

It's always the opposite.

You've been looking in the wrong threads then. There have been plenty of port begging for PC games from console users.

Hyperbolic statements like that never help you look smart because anyone can easily find comments proving you wrong.

I'm not smart, simply making an observation.

I haven't been in every PC thread so of course I can't definitively say it, but there hasn't been a Red Dead Redemption 2 or Destiny 2 anticipated type of game on PC that I'm aware of that I've seen people yearning to come console wise.

It's just anecdotal I'm sure I'm wrong like you said, there's always someone wanting some game on some platform, just not to the level I see the opposite when it's console exclusives possibly going to PC.

There are plenty of people that are port begging Star Citizen. Regardless, it's probably not a great idea to post statements like that without any evidence.

So, I have personally wanted many games that are exclusive to the PC to come to the PS4. I am almost positive at some point I have probably done some low-key port begging. That being said, he claimed to not be be able to "recall" the last time he saw anyone request a port from the PC. Someone's own recollection is pretty hard to disprove...

Plenty more begging for a release date.

But sure there you go I guess.

If you want more, go ahead and check out the XCOM 2 thread before it was announced for consoles.

EDIT: oh and the original Kickstarter announcement for the System Shock Remaster was full of port begging.

First they need to fix their exclusive game output even Nintendo beats them like crazy this year at that front.

Also i don't see Scorpio increase overall sales that much.

Quarter one already made this year one of the best in gaming imo (with still 3 left omg!) and Xbox is nowhere to be seen.

Scoprio...

Scorpi... O...

Xbox One 0...

Xbox... 1... 0...

Windows... 10...

Xbox... 10...

Xbox... X...

Xbox...

X.

It all makes sense now. Why be a box that can do anything when you can just be anything?!

We're in Year 16 of Xbox. ....And we're literally right back where we started - with Sony being the tenured console of choice in gaming, Nintendo doing its own thing, and Microsoft hoping to make sales headway via upcoming superior console hardware while also trying to reestablish its credibility in the PC gaming space.

April 2017, meet April 2001.

They need to make a store front that's not trash. They could use the Xbox app and make it easy to use. Before that happens, not a chance.

If they're going to take over the living room via pc gaming, they sure better start catering more to pc gamers - most of whom won't touch UWP games with a 10 foot pole, and for good reason.

With Windows.

Their living room gaming hardware - it's totally separate from MS, a different division! Not a PC. It's got a totally different OS and interface.

But then down the line, MS bridges the gap and combines the two.

Windows 10 on your Xbox One 0

A PC undercover as a games console, with replaceable parts, a fully couch/handheld friendly Xbox interfaced part of Windows. Which communicates with all your devices, and can even stream to them. With everything you'd expect from a PC. All in one, slowly introducing a PC to the living room through video games.

Who can compete with that?

-Edit: Apple? They're behind the ball with bigger games. Windows always needed mobile support and to be better with games, and they made separate interfaces and OS and spent money learning how...

It makes sense to combine that at some point.

I thought this exactly when they announced GFWL. Guess what happened?

Here we go again back to 2013 ... MS will just buy rockstar and Ubisoft any day now. Just wait .... Oh and Scorpio will be 99 dollars too because MS really just wants to win that salez warz on gaf.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised, but it'll likely be more on the shoulders of Valve who seem to be doing all the right moves to make the PC gaming space easier to jump in with at a much faster pace than MS.

MS has some good ideas, but they're slow to implement and they usually strap a turd to the side of whatever good they do.

"That is a might fine looking burger you have there, but why is there a mess brown mess under the plate?"

The fun thing is that list is not even 1/50th of every game that's on PC.

PC has the advantage that it's had a library that's been growing for literally centuries, output has increased in recent, on Steam alone 10-20 games release a day, and there's a lot of other platforms and places games release for different audiences, from Visual Novel releases in Japan to freeware releases on GameJolt to engine specific releases or small indie scenes on sites like itch.io.

PC has the opposite problem of having "no games", it quite possibly has too many games.

Really??? I dot think Valve will survive in the future. SteamVR will likely loose its lead to Microsoft and the same with Steam, Microsoft can change the PC architecture and force native games to Windows Store. They can have the capability to do that move.

Valve's ecosystem relies on X86-64, without it Valve is useless and we all know that X64 without the x86 extension will likely be gone in the future. Judging on how Microsoft and Intel really want to get rid of X86 and start clean with a pure X64 implementation.

I'm okay with Windows Store stuff myself, but Steam is the go to. Developers/Publishers aren't going to magically stop releasing all of their games there. Also there is nothing stopping Valve from utilizing whatever standards MS has for VR; I'd be shocked if they didn't try to include compatibility; because they aren't dicks.

MS can do whatever they want but users aren't going to be keen on losing 90% of their gaming catalogue. That would not go over well at all.

Given they've fallen behind Android as worldwide OS and have never actually dominated gaming globally ever I suggest they use "the pockets" soon....

I mean I think they're a decent company but has one specification reveal teallybdriven everyone mad?
