Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

Metroid Dread is coming.

Samus is gonna be a playable character in MK8D.

On another note, I wouldn't mind Metroid Prime Hunters in HD. It's quite a nice game and the visuals are clear in high resolution.

Give me that Ribbon Girl amiibo, release dates, and an ARMS prerelease 'test fire' and I'll be over the moon.

Anything with virtual console or Kirby would also be dope but I'm not really expecting either (and I hope a potentially Kirby game is on Switch).

For some reason I've got it in my head that Nintendo is working on a 3D Yoshi's Island game, more exploration and collecting than straight platforming. Seems like the kind of unexpected thing Nintendo would make. So if they announce that cool I guess.

Finally the Iwata Asks book collecting all his discussions.

So Splatoon 2 is supposed to be only 1 player on 1 Switch.
Local multiplayer is a thing from what I remember, in Splatoon 2.
So does that mean the only "local" thing will be to find 7 other Switch users or do you think we might be able to add CPU to the teams ?

Bring a tear to my eye that the XenoX cycle of F5-ing Soraya Saga twitter account every time Nintendo announce a Direct is once again a thing.
Nostalgia...

Predictions:

3DS:
-Ever Oaisis
-Pikmin 3DS name/Date
-Fire Emblem Warriors footage
-Something Kirby for the 25th anniversary.
-Wario Ware (PLEASE)
-US Miitopia
-US Third Party surprise localization.

Switch:
-Arms Blowout
-Spla2n Single Player
-FE Warriors Footage
-VC
-Low Key WiiU Port.

Other:
-Mobile AC info.
-Notice of shutdown for OG Wii Shop channel.

It is about time for a new Wario game, though I think at this point I'd rather see it on Switch. I'd say both, but that would have been a lot easier if it was 3DS and Wii U and it didn't even happen there.

I'd be quite happy to see a sub-$15 first-party eShop surprise come out of nowhere on short notice, positioned like how NES Remix or Dr. Luigi were on the Wii U. Imagine a BoxBoy Trilogy port in glorious HD.

Keep it on the desk so you don't have to hold the figure up to the controller like a crazy person. Maybe something akin to that.
Either way, it's more likely to be something for the OG 3DS/3DS XL or iOS/Android than something for the Switch, especially if it's for the former (it'd be IR-based).

I'm so pumped for this.

I can't wait to finally see the full Arms reveal and, as and active 3DS gamer, I'm also excited for whatever surprises we're going to see on that front.

There's no split screen multiplayer?

I wasn't expecting this at all, and now you fucked me up big time... Literally zero reasons that BoxBoy can't be on Switch.

Only if they include DLC.

And gut the Samus amiibo powers, that shit is game breaking.

I want to see more Marie. Also once again people are raising their expectations too high. I look forward to everyone's inevitable disappointment.

Isabelle (from Animal Crossing) being named Marie in France, I'm always confused when Marie from Splatoon is brought up ;-) anyway now I want to see Isabelle !

I think Nintendo will show more 3ds games than Switch games. I hope I'm wrong but there is a pretty decent list of announced 3ds games for 2017 and many, many localizations they could announce as surprises. I just want more cool Switch game announcements and hopefully one of those "available now on the eshop" type surprises.

How come they ain't giving us any 2d Mario ports? Thought they are massive sellers. Port the Wii U ones please.
Super Mario Maker will likely (hopefully) come to Nintendo Switch. I suppose ports of New Super Mario Bros. U for Wii U etc. could eat away sales from that. Besides, a new 2D Mario I think Nintendo would want to be a bit more novel.

A Mario platformer hasn't been ported since Super Mario 64 DS and it honestly doesn't make sense to port New Super Mario Bros U. The New Super Mario Bros series has only ever had one entry per platform and that's likely because the games look very similar, it would be hard to sell another New Super Mario Bros game if you've already ported one. Super Mario Maker is probably on the way but they will likely make Switch specific adjustments, the 3DS version had an entirely new single player.

I don't want a 2d Mario port. I would rather they take their time and make a new 2d Mario that aims to reinvigorate the franchise. And I think 2d Mario is not a good launch period sales driver. Rather it is better positioned a little later down the line when more casual audiences are ready to adopt new hardware.

Hoping for the same. It'd be a great time for the next Pushmo to drop.

I want New Super Mario All-Stars.

NSMB, NSMB 2, NSMB Wii, NSMB Wii U, Luigi U.

60€.

Deal.

Hard to believe a better deal in gaming could exist.

Alternatively they could make "New Super Mario Bros. Switch" instead. That would be the preferable option.

Why on Earth is everyone so obsessed with ports all of a sudden? I remember years back Nintendo was (unfairly) criticized for re-releasing and remaking everything and now people are practically asking for it. So weird.

Why would they do this when the Switch already scans amiibo?

Because iPhones can't.

Oooh now I'm super hyped for this. Some of Nintendo's best games last gen were discreet eShop games.

It's probably for the 3DS.

This, too.

3DS already has an NFC adapter sold separately.

Would allow amiibo use with mobile devices.

I'm sure they want to be able to use all those amiibo cards with the upcoming Animal Crossing mobile title.

For mobile games maybe? Not all phones have NFC

How can you use the joycons on the 3DS or phone?

Most modern mobile phones are NFC compatible. The ones that you'd use to play modern mobile games.

Keep it on the desk so you don't have to hold the figure up to the controller like a crazy person. Maybe something akin to that.

I doubt they would release an accessory solely for that purpose.

But Apple's offerings aren't. You wouldn't be able to use an amiibo with any iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, and that's a HUGE marketshare that Nintendo doesn't want to be ignoring.

Amazon has a rebate going on right now:

I kid, I kid.

That's actually a damn good point though. Want a trade-in rebate to move up to "Deluxe"? Amazon and other retailers got you covered.
