Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

I'm sure Retro guys sitting at home then at E3 sees DKCTF announced to so much negativity because people don't want them to make DK wouldn't impact them on if they should make another DK game.

It got lesser reviews and bs lies from the media in reviews. There's no way in my mind they're making another DK game.

It's time we finally hear about this at E3, if true. Didn't Emily and someone else say it is coming?
they said it's coming for VC but I want an honest-to-goodness port of the game complete with physical release like SFII and Mana Collection.

absolutely but the same applies to mario kart 8, smash bros 4 (which isnt even announced ;D) and Zelda BotW

if smash is going to be revealed here its going to be a stop gap port. if its at e3 i would say its smash 5..
Yeah, I remember Sakurai stating he started his next project shortly after development for Smash finished (including DLC). However, it's too soon to think of Smash 5, and even if they already started working on it, it wouldn't release until late 2018 at the earliest.

If that's the case, I'm not so sure they would be unveiling it at E3. I mean, ok, Smash 4 was announced without even a teaser video, but the real marketing push started much later.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to his next project!

I really hate to repost my post again but many people skipped over it.

Well, Dr. Toto said that Smash for NX is in development (he tweeted it in Jan 2016 so I presume that that's when they may start their development) and he presumed that Smash NX is going to be a launch title. Dr. Toto haven't been wrong with his sources and rumors so far, and he have a reliable source.

I don't think Smash for Switch is going to be a launch title but I think it's going to be out by next year. During Jan 2016, Sakurai already commented that he would have a new project ready for him so we don't know if it's Smash-related or a brand new project. Also he commented that he bought a robot figurine so he could use the gun for his upcoming project.

Before people going to mention that Sakurai is on vacation. He already clarified that he's taking a breather, rather than a break.

If Sakurai chose to work on something else new. It don't meant Smash Bros is out of question, since it's plausible that Smash for Switch might be in the work, with Sakurai in small capacity, or without Sakurai, like Sakurai stay in position via Producer or so. Also the gun that he just purchased, I wonder if it's for new game project, or would it be used as prop for Inkling moveset animation concept for Smash Bros project? (Source:SourceGaming, Sakurai's GDC 2008 powerpoint)

I know it's pretty much everyone's question with upcoming Smash project? Is it enhanced port with new contents? or Is it going to be Smash 5? No one knows. It's a complete new situation for Sakurai and the fans, since Wii U kinda ended early. I meant Sakurai actually made Melee like two years after Smash Bros (64). If Dr. Toto is right about Smash for Switch being in development, then the development already went on for 14 months. However it's plausible that the development is complete and Nintendo is sitting on it so they could wait for a right time to announce and release.

I don't really think they're going to call it Super Smash 4 Deluxe, and if Sakurai's upcoming project is going to be Smash Bros for Switch (Only if he's more involved with the project.) then I would believe that we are going to see some new contents than some people expected to.

Is there any reason for a hype train for this? Usually Nintendo directs and gaf= hype train.

Well it'll be kinda cool to get to know more about ARMS and get a release date for it, dunno about the rest. Splatoon 2 is probably still a few months away.

Nintendo April Direct
  • Nintendo 3DS release dates for Pikmin, Miitopia, EverOasis
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild DLC info
  • Nintendo Online Service info
  • Mario Kart 8 DX quick view
  • ARMS info and release date
  • Splatoon 2 info and release date
[*] Surprise Nintendo eShop game being available at end of Direct

Everything else is E3. (Smash, Mario Odyssey, Retro, etc)

Thats really cool. Hopefully its something unique or remastered and not just a Super Mario Run port.

Well, getting good chuck of information for two upcoming fresh franchises, that should be good enough for some fans out there. Also we might get something out of it as well.

I think you will see a third party port announced, some basic info on the online app, and I wonder if we will hear about media apps like Netflix.

- Arms release date
- Splatoon 2 info / release date?
- Switch third party port. Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2?
- Eshop game like Dr Luigi or Brain Training
- Online app information?
- Netflix, Hulu, etc.

3ds:
- Grezzo game
- Pikmin
- price drop

Fixed.

I would love to know more about the Zelda DLC but I feel that Nintendo is just going to hold back until E3 to show off the details of the first one and announce that it's coming out within that month. They'll probably do the same thing for the second one towards the end of the year in their traditional October big Direct.

Maybe if I pray hard enough, we'll get a look at FE Switch. Probably not tho.

I really do want to see more of ARMS and how far they can take the concept now that they've sold me on it.

Obviously, what From Soft has been working on all along!
To be serious. I find it funny people see like "what would From Soft do for Nintendo".

Can't Nintendo just do what they do for the Warriors franchise with Tecmo? They gave them Zelda for Hyrule Warriors and now Fire Emblem.

I could see them saying here's Captain Falcon. Make a Captain Falcon Souls game lol

I feel like Late June is pushing it a bit, especially given the Spring 2017 time-frame. I feel like it'll either be late May or early June (granted, there's MK8 Deluxe, but that's an enhanced port).

Even being a port, Mario Kart could possibly outshine ARMS.

Lol. Has Nintendo ever released anything by SURPRISE before a deadline they set? They said Summer right? I suspect it's another thing they won't be talking about until E3.

So, even if we don't get an official announcement of Smash 4 Switch, I'm betting at the very least we'll be hearing about the remaining 3 (4 if femcorrin is actually getting a separate one) Smash amiibos. Those have been MIA for far too long, and their CSPIA's have been posted for a while. Not only that but they'll want to get Corrin out in time for FE: Echoes, considering the compatibility.

Buuuuuut I'm crossing every appendage I have hoping the direct ends with a hype as hell Smash Switch announcement with a big newcomer like King K. Rool or the Inklings. I still think it's too soon for Spring Man though. Let the ARMS franchise prove it's staying power first before it gets a character spot amongst Nintendo's best-of-the-best.

STEAM was great, don't hate.

I'm not saying it was bad, but it pretty much had the opposite story to Splatoon's when it comes to it's success.

At this point ARMS could go either way, and with it's not-great brand name they've already got an uphill battle in getting the word out about it. Ever since it's reveal people have been iffy on the name, and marketing "ARMS" as the next big series is going to be a nightmare.

Yes because Codename STEAM sure showed us that there was no reason to ever doubt Nintendo. /sarcasm

Codename STEAM is straight up one of the best turn-based Strategy games of the generation. There are much worse games that you could use as an example than that.

Edit: Oh, you're referring to financial success, well, can't argue with you on that one. Thinking about STEAM's sales makes die a little on the inside.
