The Pokémon Stars rumor actually originated from Tom Phillips on Eurogamer, & Stars is a codename as far as Eurogamer knows.

Yep, that's what I remember too. Honestly I find the Pokémon Stars rumors to be more likely than Mother 3 or Smash 4 port on Switch.

Nah its just advertizement, if anything they might do it as a switch up to the nintendo world store championships.

Not expecting anything big, probably just dates for those 2 games, a bit more about fire emblem, ever oasis and pikmin 3ds, dont expect anything new announced more then maybe a switchport releasing right after the direct.

I agree a new Switch game is less likely, but there should be some kind of announcement for a new game be it 3DS or Switch. It's a worldwide Direct and nearly all previous WW Directs have featured a new game announcement. Here's hoping this stays with the trend! (OTOH, I suppose I might count VC as a new game announcement...but just barely. I'm pretty certain the trend I mentioned is regarding brand new games only and not re-releases.)

Game comes out in mid-late June, just about after E3

Nintendo talks about Splatoon development and its online infrastructure on how the stress test has optimized the game better than the Wii U Splatoon could.
Shows of a new inkling and a new weapon together with 4 new maps
Shows of a portion of the single player game
Game comes out in late Juli

Nintendo shows of already shown 3DS and Switch games for May and June and cite that big things will be shown at E3

If the 3ds was a person, it would be an ugly, out of shape dude in his late 50s that gets lucky once in a while because he's got money.

I can't believe there is anyone defending the 3ds getting exclusive games in 2017, it is ridiculous. Nintendo is giving people reasons, other than the inability to find one, to not buy the Switch.


BotW took Zelda back to its roots; nothing was reworked. I'm not sure what Star Fox needs as I don't know how many fans want it to be more than an on-rails shooter.

Smash aside, these are some pretty reasonable expectations. Though I'm kinda leaning towards Splatoon 2 being a Late June or Early July release.

For Splatoon 2 I would guess maybe new weapon, a new stage and a look at the singeplayer mode and maybe a release date.

I really hate to repost my post again but many people skipped over it.

Well, Dr. Toto said that Smash for NX is in development (he tweeted it in Jan 2016 so I presume that that's when they may start their development) and he presumed that Smash NX is going to be a launch title. Dr. Toto haven't been wrong with his sources and rumors so far, and he have a reliable source.

I don't think Smash for Switch is going to be a launch title but I think it's going to be out by next year. During Jan 2016, Sakurai already commented that he would have a new project ready for him so we don't know if it's Smash-related or a brand new project. Also he commented that he bought a robot figurine so he could use the gun for his upcoming project.

Before people going to mention that Sakurai is on vacation. He already clarified that he's taking a breather, rather than a break.

If Sakurai chose to work on something else new. It don't meant Smash Bros is out of question, since it's plausible that Smash for Switch might be in the work, with Sakurai in small capacity, or without Sakurai, like Sakurai stay in position via Producer or so. Also the gun that he just purchased, I wonder if it's for new game project, or would it be used as prop for Inkling moveset animation concept for Smash Bros project? (Source:SourceGaming, Sakurai's GDC 2008 powerpoint)

I know it's pretty much everyone's question with upcoming Smash project? Is it enhanced port with new contents? or Is it going to be Smash 5? No one knows. It's a complete new situation for Sakurai and the fans, since Wii U kinda ended early. I meant Sakurai actually made Melee like two years after Smash Bros (64). If Dr. Toto is right about Smash for Switch being in development, then the development already went on for 14 months. However it's plausible that the development is complete and Nintendo is sitting on it so they could wait for a right time to announce and release.

I don't really think they're going to call it Super Smash 4 Deluxe, and if Sakurai's upcoming project is going to be Smash Bros for Switch (Only if he's more involved with the project.) then I would believe that we are going to see some new contents than some people expected to.
