Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

giphy.gif

I'd rather not have Smash 4 & SMM be part of that, but I recognize a good fake when I see one.

They told us what the direct would be about... expecting anything else this close to E3 is foolish.

We will get
-info on how well sales are doing
-3DS game info (FE and Pikmin)
-Arms
-Spla2n
-POSSIBLY online info

Nothing else!

No 3DS game would have ever sold better by being put on the Wii U instead. Not a chance.

I mean, is that really true? This sold like nothing on the 3DS, atleast on Wii U it would have better graphics going for it. And the graphics seem to be the main thing that turned people off the game.

For bombing miserably, lots of folks really loved the Wii U.

GAF is bipolar. We shat on the Wii U, but when Nintendo ended production, nostalgia and oh noez hit GAF that they regret Wii U going to the grave. That was a good fake BTW. Fooled me initially too. And I would double dip all those games for Switch too.

It wouldn't unless it was handheld only

Let's not act like we didn't all just use the sticks to draw the shapes, no one used the touchscreen.

Thinking about it, I don't believe the game would need any altering at all. You can use the sticks to do any drawing like sane people did in the first place and there is that picture on picture stuff for any second screen parts of the game.

Wonderful 101 whilst not perfect could be fully completed on the Switch without any adjustments.

I want Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Swords 2 or Super Mario Moonshine for 3DS. One last awesome action/adventure or platformer for 3DS please Nintendo.

Expect rage.

"Why are Nintendo supporting the 3DS?!? Switch not a true handheld confirm."

Eh that'll happen regardless of what's announced. Even a $60 two pack of Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid Dread won't satisfy everyone if the 3DS gets even 2 seconds of discussion.

I give it until November before they actually fully wind down 3DS support.

I need a Pokemon announcement, I am fine with a porting of Sun and Moon.
As mentioned before, The Pokémon Company would more likely do such a reveal either in a separate Pokémon Direct or in a random reveal.

Either way, I wouldn't expect a straight port of Sun/Moon. Maybe we'll get Stars sometime before E3, but that remains to be seen (& that's assuming that Stars is even real).

For bombing miserably, lots of folks really loved the Wii U.

If you were to buy a Wii U now, you've a console with ~25 great exclusive games to pick up.

If you bought a Wii U at launch you had a console that in the space of 65 months would have ~25 great exclusive games released. That's an average of one game every three months. It was painfully frustrating to actually live through.

Time will be kind to the Wii U's library. It won't be kind to the way Nintendo handled the system.

How would Wonderful 101 even work on a Switch?

W101 is fully playable in off-screen mode or with the Pro Controller on Wii U. They'll pop up a little picture-in-picture screen for the few moments in the game when you need two screens, and all the touch screen controls can be done (usually much more easily) with the right analogue stick.

Porting the game wouldn't be a problem; unfortunately actually making any money on a port would be, though.

Actually, I'd wager most of us are happy to see the Wii U be ushered out. I sure don't regret selling mine ahead of the PS4 Pro and Switch releases one bit.
