Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

Dream world: Virtual console with DS games. Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver available to purchase on Switch VC now.

Let's do this.

Reality: 25 minutes of Splatoon 2 and ARMS. 10 minutes of obscure indies no one has ever heard of, random Neo Geo ports and more footage of Mario Kart 8 in case people can't work out how to use Youtube and look at the game for themselves.
Sounds exactly on point, Virtual Console would be a dream but this is Nintendo we're talking about, lol.

I don't think Nintendo cares about Virtual Console the way some GAF users do.

I think it'll be half-assed, like Wii U was, without a general strategy. Something they can put on a bullet list for the Switch but don't want to build on.

Those classic games with online they'll be giving to paying customers will be a separate initiative.

I'd rather they sell them in pack stuff for a higher price physically than digitally.

I'd buy a SNES essentials volume one cartridge that contained 10 high profile SNES games. I'd buy that for $40.

Cant wait for ARMS info and Splatoon info. Ill be pleasantly surprised if there is a significant new announcement but im excited enough for ARMS Splatoon already

I could see them not announcing a "Virtual Console" cause then people expect releases every week. They can still release old game son the system (like the neo geo ones have been), just not have a name/service attached to it.

Eh. They could do the Netflix style of system for VC. I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of the word "Virtual Console" and its rebranded into something new.

Remember when at E3 2012, Nintendo decided to have a dedicated 3DS conference, making it seem like they'd just focus entirely on the Wii U at their main conference only for them to still have 3DS shit there anyway? lol

Yep. It was also the conference where someone from Kotaku reminded Reggie about Fire Emblem: Awakening after the underwhelming event had ended. I still have Nightmares.

Here's the timer for the new page.

I don't think so. It again raises the expectation of lots of releases, and devalues their games.

This guy is probably in the right direction.

Dial down the expectations.

Is anyone expecting a Mario Kart Switch bundle? With sales as they are they probably don't need to do one, but it might have been something they had already planned and held stock back for

Expecting some sort of VC means I should dial down my expectations? VC they've been doing since the Wii. Why would expecting VC games for Switch be high expectations. That's normal expectations.

If they had that, they would probably pump it into the channel separately: absolutely no economic reason to do a bundle now. For the holidays they might do them, but not now, when all stock flies off the shelf already.

No, expecting that we'll see significantly more releases (or a Netflix-style subscription service) is not on par with reality.

And I think most would argue that VC in its current state is disappointing.

So better for them to scale down the effort.

Well I have no clue how they'll do the releases for their games. The Wii was good. Wii U wasn't so good.

The SNES VC on 3DS was great. Bought all 30 SNES games on the go. Sad that they stopped but I have a feeling Switch will get more VC Titles. I'm just hoping Nintendo releases N64, GBA, DS and GC titles on Switch within the next 2-3 years. i would kill to replay Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia on switch, for example

When Virtual Console comes to the Switch I hope that at least all of the library that was on the Wii U is immediately available to buy on the eshop. I want my Harvest Moon 64 and Majora's Mask.

I am not sure if this has been posted already, but Nintendo's general agent in the Nordic region, Bergsala AB, has written the following on its website:

I den här Nintendo Direct-sändningen kommer vi förutom tidigare nämnda spel få information om andra spel till Nintendo Switch och Nintendo 3DS.

Source: https://www.nintendo.se/nyheter/398-nintendo-direct-onsdag-170413

Which translates to:

In this Nintendo Direct broadcast we will in addition to the aforementioned games get information on other games for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS.

I don't know, I think that if they were going to half-ass it, it'd be here by now.

Can't someone post the Bowser hype train gif?? Or is that still bannable. Miss the old hype train gifs :(. So where's the countdown clock at now?? 7hours - 40min - 50 sec??

Well the rumor about Rabbids crossover came from French source but I couldn't remember the youtuber's name or blog.

Gameblog. His last bunch of rumours was that Nintendo and Platinum Games were getting very close with each other. With talks between Nintendo and Platinum about a possible buyout since late last year.

I could see Luigi's Mansion 2 being announced. Wouldn't be surprised if Next-Level Games had been working on it since Dark Moon.

If they do they better have an ambassador program ready

This is what I've been praying to god for! I'm hoping they're working on Luigis Mansion 3 for the Switch. If I see it at E3 it'll be so amazing.

Theres not a chance in hell pokemon gets announced but i guess if whatever game it is was only really going to get an oras style reveal then its a possibility
