Decided to stay up anyway. Turns out that I can't sleep during the first Switch era Direct, I'm simply too jittery with excitement (even if they usually disappoint...). Hope I'll survive my toddler daughter tomorrow with even less sleep, but I'll worry about that later.
Apart from Splatoon 2 and Arms looking even cooler and content-filled than before, some of my (insane) hopes are as follows:
- More info on BOTW DLC (please let it be good - I need more!);
- More indie game announcements;
- More Blaster Master: Zero / Double Dragon 4 style retro game announcements;
- Windjammers HD for Switch;
- New PlatinumGames collaboration;
- Something with Mega Man and Capcom;
- Something with Castlevania and Konami;
- Wave Race making a return, like the renewed patent seems to hint at earlier;
- New Metroid being teased;
- New F-Zero being teased;
- Super Mario Sunshine Switch port;
- Wii Sports Resort Deluxe port or sequel;
- Nintendo Land Deluxe port or sequel;
- Super Mario Maker Deluxe port;
- Legend of Zelda Maker based on BOTW retro style prototype shown at GDC;
- Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze Deluxe port or bundle with DCR;
- Beyond Good & Evil 2 being re-announced;
- New game with Treasure - such as Sin & Punishment 3 or port of 2;
- That rumored Wario Ware Amiibo game actually sounds cool;
And my biggest three:
- Info on Switch UI improvements and added functionality (save file transfers, themes, browser, Youtube, power down from a controller, VC, etc.);
- Secret of Mana collection localized;
- Dark Souls on Switch (DS1 port, DS3 port or collection);
Chances are that most if not all of the stuff outside of Arms and Splatoon 2 will be 3DS related though (which to me is a negative despite owning two of them - I just want more things on Switch).
