Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

What were people doing in this thread until now? Did people hype themselves up for a Arms/Spl2n and 3DS based Direct? I was genuinely surprised by the amount of titles they announced but I kept expectations way down.

I think plenty of people were just hoping for updates on either VC or the online service. Not unreasonable, those are hardly megatons.

I love the headline format. Not terribly interested in most of the content this time, but that was still a solid Direct.

Who could have predicted Payday 2? Such a random choice...

Co-op multiplayer for Splatoon? My friend will love this

Pretty decent Direct. I missed Shibata's goofiness tho..

Also I had the Japan stream open too and they showed off some dating sim game and the developers researching jellies jiggling, wtf was that all about

May will be a bit dry but atleast June and July will be strong I think. Arms and Splatoon 2 look great, love the new modes in both. Also really like the new direct format.

Today's direct was a win. Anyone who is disappointed should have put their expectations in check when they said 'focus is on arms and splatoon 2'

Can anyone summarize? I didn't have time to watch and won't be able to until tomorrow.

(Rangers playoff game will be dominating my night).

That was a *lot* more 3DS than I expected. Went in figuring it'd be just a long look in to Splatoon 2 and ARMS and almost nothing else, got a buttload of quick title looks, more than a few that will end up on my watch list. Definitely felt it was a good direct.

ARMS I'm still mixed on - it looks like it's shaping up to be a great fighting game (be it 1v1, 2v2, or whatever others they add), but I've concluded I really just don't care much for fighters.

Great Direct. Arms is coming later than expected but late July Splatoon sounds great.

Some of the other announcements were cool too - Namco Museum should be fun.

I like the new Direct format. Splatoon 2 is being released earlier than I thought so it will be interesting to see what they have planned for August-December.

The direct was a lot better than I thought it would be, this new style is a lot snappier than some of the more meandering directs we're used to having.

Having a Pay Day 2 port is nothing but a negative in my eyes, get that shit outta here.

I'm guessing they're saving all the big Switch stuff for E3.

New format was nice but that was it? Lmao why even bother.

Horde mode looks great, hope they let you connect mutli with friends on that mode. Also really excited of what the new story mode is going to be and Im glad they confirmed it again.

Arms is looking great, but I really need more characters and an arcade mode with fun character cutscenes.
Min Min looked great and tomorrow im sure theres going to be a buncg of rule 34 of her already.

Nice Direct. I liked the punchy format of the announcements.

Salmon Run for Splatoon 2 looks really fun. I wonder what the mysterious rewards will be? Super Sea Snails?

They still have no idea what to do with amiibo.

This was okay. Obviously nothing big because E3 is soon.

It just kinda felt empty though. Something was missing.

Man how can you be disappointed with a Direct that explicitly advertised "focused on ARMS and Splatoon 2" and instead we get all this stuff that actually ends up being something of a consistent output from now til Summer

We eatin' y'all, this was easily one of the better Directs in a while

I thought it was a stellar Direct. We got everything we were promised and many surprises. I'm seriously hyped for those yellow Joy-Con, the new Kirby (whatever it turns out to be), Ever Oasis, Puyo Puyo demo tonight, ARMS soon, and then Splatoon... I got pumped several times throughout. Let's go!

Can anyone summarize? I didn't have time to watch and won't be able to until tomorrow.

This was definitely a good Direct in terms of fleshing out their lineup for the next 3 months. ARMS looks good, and the new mode for Splatoon 2 looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Wasn't expecting Minecraft to be releasing so soon either. Fate/Extella and Payday 2 were decent surprises too.

I do wish we had heard more about the online stuff though.

They'll probably give release dates for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Mario Odyssey at E3 which isn't too far off.

I would have liked to have either Splatoon or Arms in May, but eh, whatever.

Nintendo wasn't lying when they said they wanted to pace these releases out. We're pretty much getting major content every month.

Ugh... still no Virtual Console news. I need something to play in between releases. I hope companies just do what NeoGeo is doing and release their old titles on the eShop without the Virtual Console branding.

I don't know, but GAF always finds a way
