LOL Microsoft started this crap. Did you miss last Gen?
It's not that they're not supporting it, they just don't have the leverage to strike those deals anymore. Don't forget they pioneered these shady deals in the first place. You make it seem like MS straightened up or something
not support it? dude, they're the pioneers of it
Microsoft INVENTED that crap. They paid big dollars to get GTA and COD DLCs first at the beginning of last gen. it set the precedent for publishers expecting this new revenue stream.
The tables turned on them and it's their own damn fault.
Actually, Sony "pioneered" it during the PS2 days as noted by other posters already. These type of posts show either age, ignorance or tinted shades. Microsoft just did it really successfully during the X360 era. Not that this is a good practice, because it never was.
I said this a couple months or so ago but i'll say it again. MS banked hardcore on 3rd party devs to do everything for them this gen, and while they were getting deal after deal early on with CoD: Ghosts, Titanfall, Tomb Raider, etc., once the market was decided on a clear victor, those deals were done for them.
Sure there's money being thrown around at publishers to get these deals but at the same time, as I also said, those publishers would have to be out of their minds to accept a deal with MS or be in a desperate position. What do you think a 3rd party cares about more?
Userbase of 60 million WW.
Or...
Userbase of 30 million (maybe, if not, close to it) and an unproven more powerful box yet to be released.
Even if MS offered more money at this point the deals would be denied, which is why everything worth a damn is being marketed under the PS4 banner now.
Again, making up fake facts for reassurance.
CoD - Microsoft's contract expired after Ghosts. They chose not to renew it.
Titanfall - Again, many people choose to believe what they eant, even AFTER the devs explained. Without Microsoft, the game as we know it wouldn't even exist. They originally went to Sony and got shot down and told to make it for Vita. So the fuck what if Microsoft increased their timed exclusivity to permenant after all the work and money spent? People are okay with SFV which is infinitely shadier for a plethora of reasons, but not Titanfall? Tinted shades, again.
Tomb Raider - Published by Microsoft worldwide. SE didn't just bend over and give Microsoft a free times exclusive. Funny thing about TR is that Sony did it in the PS2 days in a much more shadier way, but of course nobody cares about that.
The rest of your post is too cringeworthy to respond to.
Loving these hated it when MS did it, but now Sony is doing it it's ok posts.
Reading forums last gen, I could have sworn folks thought it was a bad thing.
We hyping money hats these days, what changed?!
Money hatting is good now op?
We lauding monetary hats now? Cool.
Pretty much this is a nutshell. Last gen, the amount of hatred and whining about Xbox marketing deals and timed exclusitivity DLC was insufferable. How scummy "M$" were was shouted from the rooftops, and to deny this and make revisionist history out of it because your favorite company does it now? C'mon.
Hell, even early this gen (2013?) there was a rumor from fake insiders that MS will go out of their way to make it seem like 3rd party games shown at their E3 conference will be exclusive, when in reality they won't be. The amount if hatred and vitriol this rumor achieved... any of y'all remember this? Then, it turned out to not be true, when in reality Sony did it with FFXV/KH3 at E3. Internet freaks out about exclusitivity for 24 hours until SE announced them multiplatform the next day. Sony did exactly what MS was rumored to do and not an ounce of negativity is shred.
Not exactly sure why, but there is a huge amount of hypocrisy whenever it comes to Xbox vs PlayStation. It goes it both directions but it's vastly more profound via hardcore Playstation fans.
