Sony are killing it for 3rd Party Marketing / Exclusive Content Deals

This is true but it doesn't negate if the act is anti consumer. Anyway, I suspect you have no problem with the current way of how co-marketing is going considering your preferred console is getting most of them.

When my last 360 broke I waited 30 days for Cod Dlc on ps3. I didn't complain because I didn't object getting it early on 360.

That's cool, I guess. Exclusive content tends to be pretty innocuous in general, so it doesn't bother me (or sway my purchase)... I just want to play it on the platform that will give me the best performance and value, which generally means that I'll buy it on PS4 if I want it at launch due to Prime/GCU discounts and wanting it in physical form (Switch might change this in some cases... probably not on the AAA front though if a game is heavily tech-driven/demanding on hardware), or on PC later due to sales.

I'm cool with marketing deals. It's a business an I have a PS4. Last gen I had an 360 n I was cool with it then too. If you need that destiny stuff as early as possible buy a PS4. I waited for tomb raider because I didnt mind waiting.
So to address the op... yea sony is killing it this year with the deals/exclusive content. Waiting on that destiny beta .

Phil Spencer said they explicitly did not want to moneyhat 3rd party exclusivity as much this time. You think they couldn't afford to keep Call of Duty or even bring Bungie on board? Before Sony exclusivity, Xboc 360 was lead platform for Destiny. Now a lot of people view the creators of Halo as a pro-Sony company lol.

It didn't really pan out because Phil Spencer promised greater first party IP development and focus and we have got jackshit. ReCore? Halo 5 and Gears 4, but there was the MCC debacle. Crackdown 3 delayed like crazy. In the end, Sony got tons of sales for everything. Just wait till Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption which Sony also seems to have locked up.

I'm sorry but the hypocrisy here is real. Exclusive content for 3rd party games I'm not a fan of.

What am I, if not an organism for brand identity?

As a non-shareholder with significantly strong social support for a corporation, I approve of these moves.

Just gonna repost this (last time):
Folks acting like a lot of people are in support of this, these are the ones that have said good things about this:

...

18 people. Out of the 224 posters in this thread. And even then, only a handful are outright positive about this, most of them just being okay with it or saying it's just business or mentioning that they are okay with 1 month deals but not the 1 year destiny deals.

Take your victim complex, "oh it's sony, so it's okay now" shit elsewhere. If you are seeing someone who has flip-flopped, call them out specifically with proof rather than making general "oh poor me/MS fans" "this is neogaf" statements without any real ground to stand on.

I actually didn't say I supported anything. I just feel people have a choice. If it's truly as anti consumer as people say. I surly hope they vote with their wallets.

I don't think name shaming was needed tbh.

You could have got your point across without naming posters.
It's only name shaming if you don't actually read the post. But I'll edit the quote that's on this page. The original will be unedited though.

Except your post ignores the fact that this is mentioned in much more topics besides this one. I have seen numerous posts praising and advocating for this action and how great it is for Sony. I'm supposed to name shame to make you feel better?

Nah, I don't expect anything from you, people who spout this kind of stuff usually don't have any real ground to stand on. Just keep playing the victim to make yourself feel better. As far as I'm concerned, this thread is enough proof of the general sentiment on the matter.

The point is youre talking about a minority of posters, I've seen just as many posters hope Cyberpunk 2077 is an XBO exclusive. Doesn't mean I'm going to start making generalisations here that don't even apply.

Yea add me to the list I guess. But since I supported it last gen does that mean I don't fit the narrative in here? I'm supposed to have hated it before right ?? Do I win a prize or something?

All I know is if I thought something was soooo sleazy/ anticonsumer id quit purchasing the games that participated in that practice all together... don't like the destiny deal well don't buy destiny/cod/overwatch etc ANY thing from activision. There ya go now you no longer support a company that does it. To be safe you should sell your Xbox/PlayStation too both of them support it.

Do you have a link to that post, I would like to see and laugh at it?

It's just such an odd thing to be excited about. I don't actually care enough to boycott over it and will always just get any multiplat game on PC.

Are you going around and assuming people are playing professional victims over someone's opinions on exclusive content?
wtf is professional victim. There is such a thing as a victim complex. Some people fall back to that to cope with negativity being directed towards something they like or positivity directed towards something they don't like. And some of the posts in here absolutely scream victim complex on this matter as they are absolutely off in regards to the general sentiment surrounding this matter. And I'm not above that, I can admit it's happened to me before.

So now you're outright lying to attempt at making a point? You have seen tons of people hoping Cyberpunk is XBO exclusive? If you're going to straw man, that is not how you do it.

Are you going around and assuming people are playing professional victims over someone's opinions on exclusive content?

Judging by his need to keep reposting things for the new page, his agenda is quite obvious.

Great business decisions. It's how capitalism works and makes the value of my PS4 marginally higher. Especially makes sense since many of these games are getting promotion and development help from Sony

Wait, you know about victim complex but not victim playing? Hmm...

Please don't reignite and start waving around the "persecution complex" torch, leave it burried with DeepEnigma where it belongs.

I've never heard the term "professional victim" before honestly. Have only heard "Playing the victim" and "victim complex"

Apparently reposting something once for the top of teh page (and saying I won't be resposting again) in an attempt to make people think twice before possibly making stupid post, is a need to keep on reposting. Nice logic there.

Anyways, done with this thread. This back and forth is accomplishing nothing. I've already posted my thoughts on the matter the OP is talking about earlier, and have also pointing out the fact that 90% of the people in this topic hold negative views, and not everyone from that 10% is entirely positive in regards to this matter as well so far. Anyone who tries to imply otherwise is just letting their bias show.

I feel bad for individuals who think this way. Also, none of those games are getting development help from Sony.

And lol @ the irony of this post following farisrs posts.

There's really no point. There are some (SOME) people here on GAF who will just always play the victim card. It's stupid, stale, and nobody really cares about their sentiments.

Looking at old threads there were some Sony fans who did it back last gen, now it's some Microsoft fans. And well, there are some Nintendo fans just basically every gen recently.

You feel bad for people who can take two seconds to separate their feelings on a marketing decision and see why company wise it makes total sense?

Most of the exclusive content is worthless garbage anyways like side missions that add nothing to anything all that Destiny stuff and Assassins Creed stuff is all worthless. Skins, bonus weapons etc. none of it takes away or adds any real value to the game but when someone like Microsoft let's say snags full expansions (like Division) for months is when i have a problem because that ends up dividing and killing the playerbase and potentially your game due to long no-content droughts.

Why tf do people keep saying "anti-consumer"!?

For a sec, forget all the DEALS, all the marketing.

It's not a game makers (ea, acti, etc.) fault you can't tell the difference between 2 platforms. I.e SW:BF gets dlc early on PS; Xbox gets the game itself early plus a discount.. only to still get the dlc on time, just not early.
PlayStation might have some vr stuff for dlc as apart of some deal.. while Xbox version might come with the old games via bc.

It's good things happening on both sides of the spectrum. YOU choose what's best for you and what platform offers the best advantage for your pleasure.

Both companies will have marketing deals with publishers, albeit some stronger than others.

What people should not be assuming is that these deals are some sort of bragging right for their preferred ecosystem. The most successful console will always get these kinds of deals by default, it most likely was not Sony just happening to be good at negotiating somehow.

If they were in XB1's position, it would be completely reversed

I think those PS+ monies would be better put to use improving PSN but hey more marketing deals for games that I can download at a snails pace.

EDIT: I have never been cool with this regardless of who does it.

Couldn't give a fuck about a Sony logo in a ad but this shit basically gimped some cool content in Destiny and looks like it'll be the same in D2 so fuck them.

Yay? These deals pissed me off last gen, and they piss me off now. Even though the PS4 is my primary console, it's still shitty that Xbox One people need to wait for DLC that is clearly complete just because Sony put up the cash to make it happen. Not sure why that's something to celebrate unless you're a Sony shareholder.

Jfc, some of these posts are embarrassing. If you're name calling and being hostile maybe click the back button before you post. Have a discussion don't be a dick.

OT - That being said I understand from a business prerspective why Sony does this but it does suck that people get locked out of content for so long. I'm curious to see how this effects the PS4s sales especially with Scorpio coming . This holiday is going to be very interesting as Sony is coming out swinging with third parties , Nintendo with big exclusives (Mario, Xenoblade 2, etc.) , and Microsoft with hardware.

Would you prefer the old way where they spend all of their money keeping entire games off of rival platforms? That was the norm for 30+ years. Now instead of losing Destiny, you still get it but with a couple of strikes and skins missing.
