I don't know if he's going to join the team but either
he's going to finally be redempted and there's going to be a last minute small bond between him and Goku (hard to believe it's going to happen), either he's going to team up with Frost to fuck everyone up and Goku will throw him out of the ring.

It's interesting to see how they're going to manage it. There are so many things to include in that 40 minutes tournament.
 
Just finished 87 ugh.. The power levels are just humongous levels of bullshittery it makes you wonder what's even the point of saiyan potential. Numerous times in the anime do vegeta/goku getting revived after near death experiences and still had less power jumps n the original freeza saga.

Glad I followed the manga. The power levels were appropriated accordingly despite following the same arc and explains the power disparity/advantage.
 
Do you think it's possible they'll do multiple episodes of this tournament that run side-by-side, time wise?

As in, one episode that begins the tournament

We see what Goku and Gohan are doing in the tournament, focus is on their fighting
Next episode starts - it's back to the start of the tournament again, but we see how Piccolo and Tien are doing
Next episode starts - it's back to the start again, but we see what 17 and Vegeta are doing

etc

Just so we actually get long / decent fights with focus on people

Zenkai boost have diminishing returns
And Goku and Vegeta have essentially been capped out at SSB for some time now.

They don't really have a choice, I can't see them preparing the tournament for so many episodes and then finish it in two episodes. It would result in the worst and most wasted chapter.
 
Do a bunch of episodes that take place concurrently in the same timeframe showing various members of the team + the U7 and U11 characters in their battles, then if they need more time they could extend it by having a tie between 2 or 3 universes at the end of the time limit and a more traditional tournament format to decide it.

Did he know Cell was an android? Because if 16 can't come back it would make no sense if Cell could, so this just seems to be either an inconsistency from Toriyama or a lack of knowledge on King Kai's part.

Edit: I guess Cell was born biologically. But still...

Saiyans haven't got near death boost since the Frieza Saga in both the anime and manga.

And the manga makes since, which is how Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta was even with Super Saiyan 1/2 Black, despite base form Black being able to body Super Saiyan 2 Trunks, who is stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku.
 
What's ironical in this whole thing is that
Buu used to need maybe 10 seconds of sleep only to get all his energy back, and it had been showed more than once. So him sleeping for so long looks like a convenient retcon.

Maybe the payoff to the sleep is
He needs it to adjust to his new body, meaning they'll commit to skinny Buu.
In my soul I still believe it's a fake out to add an episode of drama.

would Freeza even agree to this shit. Hes dead, in hell being tortured over and over for eternity, the universe being deleted would end his suffering,
he shouldn't be scared of Beerus since you know already dead and being killed again would just end his suffering. I hope its just a trick.

Not really since Toriyama said years ago that Buu slept for centuries before going on a rampage.

Also, love the denial. It really is he five stages of grief.

Goku will offer,
A free Krillin death, or money, or Bulma, or tell him where New Namek is so he can wipe out the Namekian's again, or a Super Dragon Ball's wish, or time in the ROSAT to train and get stronger..
 
I hate it because they are
replacing an interesting fighter with a more boring one
but if they have a specific story plan for this it might end up being better.

Nah they have interesting techniques that aren't just ki blasts. He should be replacing anyone. I'm hoping its another fake out.

No because Roshi could have simply taught Tien his one or two unique abilities and that would have saved us the "weak human with gimmicks" role that they both fit.

Also, the reason Cell is not coming back is because he undermines everybody in the team.

He can do everything Goku Vegeta Piccolo Frieza 17 and 18 can do. With 0 downside to it. As an antagonist it works, but anything else and he is basically the unfun factor.

I can't wait to see a certain character face the "legendary" super berserker saiyan now, not gonna lie :p .

Buu is more interesting power-wise. Personality, Frieza win hands down.

There is a downside, Cell's much weaker than all of them except for maybe 18. He also doesn't have the endless energy of the androids.

And Roshi has far more than one or two unique techniques and Tien have some stuff exclusive to him.

Pff, he needs 2 hours of training, aka one minute in the HTC. Gohan style. 2 hours to surpass everybody.

And Roshi has far more than one or two unique techniques and Tien have some stuff exclusive to him.

Outside of the gag techniques, I'm struggling to find more than 2 meaningful skills he has over Tien, and as I said, he's his student, he could have just learned that.

But to enlighten me, can you tell me what he has over tien since it's "far more" ? Not that I don't trust you but I don't recall that.

That's a really stupid thing to say.

1) 17 took 13 years, not exactly quick

2) he never said fighting poachers was his training, he said he put some efforts into getting stronger and didn't relax, so whether that's speed training, learning how to use his infinite energy better, make use of his infinite stamina to have sick training sessions etc... we can only guess, but the "omg poaching so efficient" point is getting old. Just like "omg 17 participates cause he wants a boat" is factually wrong yet many people that didn't bother to pay attention to what was said roll with it.

Cell isn't 'special Gohan'. And honestly Cell is more arrogant than Frieza and would probably try to get stronger by eating people. Because training is for 'imperfect beings'.

The Drunken Fist may look silly, but it is effective at confusing opponents. His Lightning Surprise Attack which he used to floor Tien and Hypnoses which may work depending on the situation. He also have by far the most battle experience of the bunch. Also, Tien isn't his student. Tien never saw Roshi as his teacher since he still have some loyalty to the Crane School.

I will agree that most of the techniques I am thinking of Tien knows. So yeah, not many but still enough not to call Roshi unneeded. Krillin and Tien are more comparable.
 
If U6 doesn't have a Namekian on the team, how many of us will be extremely upset?

Really not sure how I feel about this. Unlike, say, 17 returning which feels fresh, Frieza...ugh..dunno. They kinda ruined him already :s

Idk, it makes sense to me. They've established that both 17 and Frieza have crazy potential. I think it'll be fun to have one asshole in the mix that challenges the group dynamic.
 
In regards to
frieza, aren't they gonna have an issue when he tries golden form and run out his time limit quicker? Goku in Z fought majin vegeta and used ss3 against buu and ran out of time early. Guessing Golden will use up far more energy so will he last long at all?
