Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 |OT| Anyone can save the galaxy once - SPOILERS!

Like, I slept for most of Transformers 4 in the theatres, I don't form an opinion on it besides, I went the fuck to sleep after TJ Miller died because I was bored. I don't make an actual criticism about it, missing 45 minutes in a 2 hour story driven movie is kind of...yeah nah. Can't listen to ya opinion on that one
How dare you spoil transformers for me.

Do you have statistics on that? I think you may be incorrect. Especially on solo screen time.

Only stats from my ass, sorry. I think you're correct on solo screen time being upped, but not necessarily by much comsodering the movie is 20 mins longer and he's absent from one part of the team for half the movie. I also wouldn't consider the intro solo time, for instance. But i get that if you're finding him annoying any time is too much time.

does anyone know what scenes played during these songs:

the chain
my sweet lord
wham bam shangalang
surrender

also which song played during Yondu & Rockets escape

The Chain: Once when Pete, Gamora and Drax leave with Ego, second time during the final fight

My Sweet Lord: First time on planet Ego

Wham Bam: Attack of the Sovereign on Ego

Surrender: Credits + Kraglin post-credit scene

Come a Little bit Closer by Jay & The Americans for Yondu + Rocket

Honestly, my biggest gripe with the movie is why the mutineers didn't just destroy or even make an attempt to damage the prototype fin immediately. They clearly knew it existed given the way they reacted to seeing him wearing it, and they obviously had easy access to all of Yondu's belongings.

I am camp 1st movie as well. Just felt it was better. Was more varied with locales and characters it seemed so it felt more Epic. Also felt that even though the music was still damn good in Volume 2, it was just perfection in Vol 1.

The first movie had Morag, Xandar, Knowhere, and Thanos' Sanctuary...not much more varied than this movie especially when Ego's planet had quite a bit of visual variety and looked far more interesting than anything in the first movie outside of Knowhere. As for the rest of your post...maybe don't fall asleep for a third of a movie and then complain about shit you missed.

I agree. We just needed a little indication that Tazerface wanted to use it himself.

Also after this movie I am all in on the theory that Thanos gets fuckin backstabbed by Nebula and she ends up having the Gauntlet for the final endgame

Well I mean that's how the Infinity Saga ends so they'd just be following the comic.

I don't want a super-powered Star Lord...

What if he used his powers to make his gun shoot poop?

Saw the movie Saturday. Had to book screenings several hours in advance because it was sold out until then, and we had to drive half an hour out to some random theater. Crazy! @_@

I thought GotG2 wasn't as good as the first one, which to me was going to be hard to top anyways, but it was still a great movie.

I think I'm with most people. Some of the jokes could've been shorten. Groot's breakout and Rocket constantly blasting the Ravangers in the air immediately came to mind. The last Taserface joke also didn't land much with the crowd, but we were enjoying ourselves for the most part.

But when the jokes lands, I was probably laughing harder than at any point in GotG1. Plus, it was more emotional. I always liked the actor that plays Yondu, and they gave him a great send off.

The only other criticism I have is it felt a lot more gaggy. I could sort of buy Peter doing a dance off at the end of GotG1, but between the pinball sound effects during the space jumps, Pacman (as funny as it was), and a few other things that escapes my head, it felt a little too over the top.

But yeah, Drax had too many lines to quote (hell this entire movie is quotable), I loved the sister dynamic between Gamora and Nebula, the father/daddy dynamic, and I'm #teambabygroot.

Biggest pop off in the theater was "I'M MARY POPPPINS YALL!"

My favorite line was "He may have been your father boy, but he ain't your daddy."

Going to watch it again this weekend.

Ego's last words were that without the light, Quill would be just like everyone else. If this was comics, you could count on the powers coming back, but in the movies? I doubt it. It's like bringing people back to life -- comics do it, but the movies don't have the time or the need for that shit.

Except maybe a one timer in Infinity War 2.

ya Peter is probably depowered going forward in the MCU

The Chain: Once when Pete, Gamora and Drax leave with Ego, second time during the final fight

So many Gaffers fall asleep at the movies. There should be some scientific study about this.

I'm thinking folks on here are all in their their late 60s. They fall asleep. They can't remember things in a movie they just saw. Kids makes them cranky. Think about it..

Yondu was uniquely skilled with it, but it was still just a general use weapon. They could've destroyed all their guns to prevent Yondu getting his hands on one of those, too.

I never get why people expect a movie to be like cocaine and keep them awake anyway. 'Couldn't keep me awake' isn't a mark of quality.

I loved the movie. I loved that it was basically Yondu's story as much as anything else. Michael Rooker is the man, and it's a shame that they killed him off.

Kraglin will be good too though, I think. Sean Gunn has been good in everything I've seen him in. Hopefully he starts getting work beyond just projects his brother is involved in.

wathced it last night, I liked it allot

for sure it is not as good as the 1st movie but Vol.2 touched lots of subjects that part 1 didn't cover

Some quick thoughts. Loved the movie. I think it's easily better than the first. A lot of the times I come to these threads to see what someone is inevitably dumping on even when I really like the movie. Often times, I'm swayed to some of their points, but I'm not on the same page with any here. Did't have a problem with pacing. Loved Baby Groot. The humor landed for me 95% of the time and it was way funnier than the first. It had higher highs. No real lows that I can think of. Stronger emotional core. Loved it. The only complaint I can kind of agree with in hindsight was that it doesn't go to many different locations (ie planets), but that didn't bother me at all while watching it.

Honestly, my biggest gripe with the movie is why the mutineers didn't just destroy or even make an attempt to damage the prototype fin immediately. They clearly knew it existed given the way they reacted to seeing him wearing it, and they obviously had easy access to all of Yondu's belongings.

I think it's because other people can use the fin and considering how OP the whole arrow thing was, I don't think they'd be so quick to get rid of it. The only really dumb thing they did was letting Baby Groot run free but I assume they just underestimated him.

I like Black Widow and all but she works better as a supporting character than the main.

Black Widow and Hawkeye should get their own, separate Netflix shows. 8 episodes each. They're backstories and adventures are better suited to an expanded format like Netflix, rather than 2 hours of movie.

If they did a Hawkeye TV show using Matt Fraction's run on the books, it would be fantastic.

I took the lady to watch this movie on Saturday night in one of those new AMC Dolby theaters. It was quite the experience.

The movie itself was fantastic. I'd put it my Top 5 CBM movies at this point.

GotG deserves all the money. I'll probably watch it again this week with a few coworkers.

Agree with all this and yet, I'm in the other boat. I enjoyed this way more than GOTG1. I really liked the heart string moments by Racoon and Yondu. Especially Rocket.

I didn't prefer the long intro, went on for way too long. And the "Go get me Quill's music player..." felt like a "let's force a song in here too".

I'm not entirely sure why Ego brought up, "...it hurt me to put a tumor in her", like damn fam. At least wait until your plan is done.

Given that they had just been kicking around and pouring booze on Groot, I'm inclined to agree with the 'underestimated' line of thinking. If someone had woken up when he was rooting about they probably would have thought nothing of it.

I think one of the few bits I didn't like in the movie was the overly long and on-the-nose discussion between Yondu and Rocket. It was like there was a big 'EXPOSITION' sign above their heads that was flashing.

My favourite line was Peter's "I'm gonna make some weird shit." I loved the delivery. Like, "I'm warning you that you've brought this on yourself."

Repo Man pretty firmly occupies this slot in my top ten.

But GotGV2 jumps right up there with Big Lebowski and Pulp Fiction in the competition.

Art direction and memorable characters both = A+.

Movies like this always have huge flaws.

It's kind of the whole point.

So why were people speculating a couple weeks back that the post-credits scenes were teasing the Fantastic Four in the MCU? There's nothing in the stingers about any team, other than the OG Guardians.

I wonder if the line at the end was supposed to be "welcome to the fuckin guardians of the galaxy" but they had to change it because it would have made it R because the whole joke would have been a lot funnier if they had actually used the word

When he does the Pac Man, I fucking lost it for a minute. I'm pretty sure everyone in the theater hated me. But I was just thinking back to that line and he makes a fucking Pac Man.

Someone that would stick a tumor in the head of the person they loved has to be pretty far removed from humanity to even realise how messed up it is. He probably thinks once Peter has had a taste of those powers he'll be fully on board straight away and on the same wavelength.

It's fricken because the movie is PG-13, and they're gonna dance on that line. Also, the word fuck doesn't make jokes funnier lol..

That feeling when Batista is more over than your favorite indy vanilla midget. I'm still amazed Batista, out of all people, ended up being one of my favorite things of the movie. He was also good in Spectre.

I haven't been to an Imax theater in over 15 years, and fortunately we're going out of town in which they have 3 imax theaters. My gf wants to see it again, so hopefully I can convince her to catch a showing there. It's kind of lame watching a movie while you're vacationing but w/e.

Edit: Also my theater didn't give us a Thor trailer which was surprising, but they did show a Wonder Woman trailer.

I loved how this movie was more self contained. It's starting to feel like its own thing which helps my comic book movie fatigue a bit and I think it will help the trilogy stand up over time. I love these more standalone ones lately. Ant Man, strange, and now this one.

In Infinity War, I want to see Nebula get some hits in on Thanos. I know she's not going to be the one to finish him, but Gillian has been putting work in on this and I feel for her. I want to see that release.
