What about the beatdown he gave Black in return, the fact that he technically beat Freeza, or his mentor fight with Cabba? He doesn't have a perfect record, but he's not losing left and right like he used to.

He beat up a weakened and tired Frieza and still managed to screw things up since he took too long to kill Frieza. He beat Black up, Black got stronger, and mocked him.

He was clearly Ultimate in the retellings, so he was using his full power.

Ultimate Gohan being powerful is fine. Ultimate Gohan reaching Goku's level in a night is BS and is almost as bad as how he got his Ultimate form to begin with. By sitting on his butt.

Only in Battle of Gods though.

Only semi-redeemable quality this arc can have is if
Vegeta is the one this time to kill Frieza when he inevitably betrays the team

Would be nice to rectify that mistake, but
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to Frieza somehow staying in the mix. I never thought Frieza would come back,
again! I really thought he was dead and buried. I am enjoying this revelation too much lol. Can't wait to see this shit go down.

Freeza's already dead.

He just has 24 hours to find a way to revive himself, which is what I suspect Goku is going to promise him.

He actually showed up on episode 80 at the bottom of the staff list and seemingly did a single cut.

He tweeted out a piece of genga for it and I think he said something like it being great job training or something like that (I can't find his twitter and I might be remembering wrong!)
I have to wonder if Toei didn't grab him for this episode, but instead somehow managed to grab him as a new regular for the show. We'll definitely have to keep any eye out.
Oh nice. Hopefully he sticks around.
This seems like the most polished Shimanuki has been on Super yet? I'm really excited for this episode.

Nah dude. There's a number of reasons why I disagree.
One, Freeza's been wanked off in the movies, GT, etc etc for too long. They've exhausted him. Two, this is the third time they're trying to write Buu out the plot cause he fell asleep... that's boring. And bad writing. Skii already said it best, but they're making Goku into a huge fucking moron after everything Freeza's done. Freeza was supposed to be the character that couldn't be redeemed.

That's why I hope it's just a time filler.

Frieza was only 'wanked' in Resurrection 'F'. Every other time he was brought back, he was the butt monkey and the 'you used to be the best, but now even the kids can one-shot you'. And it can't be too long since, guess what, Frieza is still popular and people are excited to see him. And 'bad writing' for something you haven't even seen yet. Gohan jumping several tiers in one night because 'his special' his questionable writing, but that's okay because you like Gohan. I should also point out that it was never said that "Freeza was supposed to be the character that couldn't be redeemed". That is what fans concluded and we know how fans' ideas have been proven wrong several times.

Buu falling asleep is pretty much a running gag, which flies over the heads of everyone for some reason. It isn't a 'cheap cop-out', it's literally Buu's gag like Roshi being a pervert.

After sleeping I think I'm okay.
I'm upset that they dumped Buu again, but at least he got a win in the exhibition. I'm kinda mad that I called him going into hibernation because he overexerted himself.
I think I've moved to cautiously optimistic for Freeza, there is a lot of great character interactions that could come from this. I saw people saying it's out of character for Goku to try and get Freeza... how? The dude was going to let Freeza live TWICE. The Universe is at stake and he can probably strike some sort of deal for Freeza, either bring him back to life or bargain for a better hell for him or something, so I don't see why Freeza wouldn't agree. This also kinda gives F more purpose in the grand scheme of things, I got Freeza up to snuff, and this could be a chance to give Freeza something better than that movie/arc since it wasn't very good, especially the Super version.
I just wish Freeza was replacing Roshi or Tenshinhan instead.

I don't get this. The humans finally get to do something after decades of being left in the shadows, and you want one of them to be removed. Like Buu, I take all of the humans over him. He had an entire arc to himself as the villain, it's the humans turn.

By a country mile. When he first showed up on Super his art was kinda wack, but he's been slowly regaining his old style from Z (He's practically there in that NEP), but even ignoring that the polish on his artwork in the NEP is unlike anything he's done in Super yet.
Compare to the last episode he supervised and it's night and day.

So when do you think we'll see SSJ Caulifa/ Fembrola? Next episode or another 2/ 3 episodes?

Or do you think they'll save the reveals for the tournament?

I'm actually really wondering about Kale right now. Cabba showed no interest in training her specifically, only Caulifla. Does that mean he'll end up training Caulifla's entire gang? Their designs seem way too generic to take up the final 3 spots from Champa's team though, so hopefully that won't happen.

Bad writing is a defining aspect of Super now as far as I'm concerned. I genuinely do want the show to be good and there is a way they can squeeze something interesting out of this, but the writers in Super have such a bad track record of fumbling the ball and squandering potentially good ideas that I don't have faith that they can pull it off.

I'll still turn off my brain and tune in anyway once the tournament begins since I'm part of the problem.

I would just laugh if they redeem the guy who has literally murdered Piccolo, Krillin, and both of Vegeta/Goku's fathers.

Either she has it already, Caulifla wants Kale to join her specifically, or Kale spies on them when Cabba teaches it to Caulifla, and she tries it herself.

"The humans" don't need to take up 3* damn slots of the 10-fighters roster.

* technically 6 since Gohan/17/18 are humans too.

He was only Ultimate in Batlle of Gods (Movie and Arc).

That is what I said since he lost the form started in Resurrection 'F' and could only used Super Saiyan. I was arguing against the idea that he wasn't Ultimate in Battle of Gods movie or retelling.

Those humans have far more right then Buu, so if I have to sacrifice Buu to have them, fine by me. These were the original main cast before they got overshadowed by the likes of Piccolo and Gohan.

Gohan is called a Saiyan despite being a hybrid and 17 and 18 are not classified as human either. They're cyborgs/androids

I'm super excited for the episode but tbh I'm not a fan of how the NEP looks. It feels so modern Yamamuro with tons of unnecessary highlights and shading, and the thick nicks looks weird with the current art style.

At least it looks polished.

It really doesn't look like Yamamuro at all. Shimanuki's shading in the NEP actually gives depth to the art as well.

Spoilers for the big middle point section of One Piece and spoilers for Dragon Ball Super. The Super spoilers are about the recent large spoiler everyone is talking about.

Crocodile teaming up with Luffy is one of the coolest things in all of One Piece. I think Frieza having to be on Goku's team could end up being incredible

I sort of agree. I mean I'll take this over a lot of different styles and levels of quality we've seen from Super, that's for sure. It's polished and all but I don't think that artstyle is ideal. Everything looks extra beveled or something idk.

That was a crazy chapter since most of the cast from Alabasta helped Luffy in Impel Down.

It would be awesome if Goku and Frieza devolved a relationship similar to Luffy and Crocodile. They both still clearly hate each other, but have just enough respect for one another not to screw each other.
That Crocodile saved Luffy's life just to screw the marines.

I don't know, I'm not a fan of the extreme shading approach in modern Dragon Ball and I was glad Super was moving away from it gradually. The NEP feels like one of these Kai / PS3 game openings. Characters look more like action figures than anything else.

Maybe it's just me.

I feel you. Old-school Dragon Ball Z utilised a lot of shading too but the contrast between shades was much softer. Modern DB's art style has shifted quite noticeably from the Buu saga/GT days.
Still, it's not like old Dragon Ball is going anywhere. I can appreciate a decades-old art style being tweaked and edited over the years. It's pretty interesting to observe, and detailed characters are always impressive in animation even if I don't jive with the overall art direction.

I agree so much with all of this

Writing is becoming dumber each episode, goku keeps lying to every friend he meets and you know the own DB physics can suck it when a kame hameha dont do any damage at all on a well populated area and roshi is god tier because secret training.

I don't particularly care for TFS quotes. They stopped being funny years ago to me after fans rammed them into the ground.

Also, I couldn't tell that you were joking since some fans really do get trigged when you call the androids, androids.

Gohan told not to tell anyone, so Goku is lying. And it's called ki control. Without it, Krillin's fart could nuke the planet.

And Roshi's god tier.... Thank you for confirming that the Dragon Ball fanbase is the densest fanbase on the planet because Goku was obviously fighting at his full power.

I also don't know why people take Goku's secret training comment so seriously, Yurin was doing a lot of chanting and Chaotzu stopped her as Goku's Kamehameha hit. It's very possible that the magic was making Roshi stronger than normal.

Problem with that is that was never said in the entire episode.

Nah, the secret training was meant to be taken at face value to justify Roshi's inclusion since we haven't seen him do some heavy real shit in ages, Goku specifically mentions this is Roshi not holding back.

They definitely would have mentioned it if the spell was making any of them stronger than normal

To be fair he was taking on Freeza goons in RoF. I'm not sure DB era Roshi could have done that, which means he has been steadily increasing in power since then. I would imagine Freeza goons to be around Raditz level at the very least.

It wasn't there to justify his inclusion since Goku picked him for his battle experience and techniques, not his strength. Him getting stronger was just a bonus.

I wasn't talking about Goku I was talking about the audience. Every character(hopefully Tien gets one next episode) is getting a spotlight to show off so we can see their development and how they're good for the team.
