Going to see this today. Is the 3D version any good? Normally I'd just do it since I enjoy 3D but the showtimes are kind of odd for me. If it's good, I'll plan towards it. Otherwise I'll just go regular.
Yeah, I'm not normally a fan but I really enjoyed it in this. It's such a vibrant film anyway (like Doctor Strange in places) that the 3D really emphasises it.

I'd say many scenes benefit from 3D but 2D isn't inferior either. (I've seen it in both)

and GOTG 2 starts with a dance sequence to troll people who whined about dancing saving the universe in GOTG.

I think actually it is just mirroring the first film, Peter dancing around the ruins. In fact I think Groot pulls the same freeze frame pose as Peter for the film's title, with the one knee up in the air.

I liked how Peter just pulled his guns and blasted Ego when he heard what he did to his mom. Didn't draw out some sort of long-winded further explanation. Was pissed and immediately reacted.

Cant stop thinking about this movie. Definitely a top 5 in the MCU for me. It's just a GREAT fucking movie and has so much going on but never loses its footing.

I LOVE how different all the villains are and they're all great. I also love that despite being a Guardians of the Galaxy movie the conflicts were all very personal.

Perfectly human reaction. I liked it. Even though he's supposed to half god or something.

I think it's both. Mostly because Gunn had most of the action off screen and dancing in the forefront. Dude is such a troll.

Also everyone should buy the soundtrack. It grows on you.

According to my local iTunes chart, everyone is. And yes, better than vol. 1.

Did you double dip because you fell asleep the first time or forgot what you saw?

Or were you forced?

Rage blackouts from whenever Baby Groot had screentime. I remember maybe 4 minutes, at most. I was also on my phone cringing at Tom Holland in drag.

I'ma double dip tonight, I'll skip the 3D so I can go get food beforehand (and save money cause I already saw it in 3D)

I cannot stress exactly how much I wanted Ego fuckin' dead when he dropped that shit

Like Ronan I didn't care about and it was funny when he dropped the villain facade when Pratt started dancing in his face but I wanted that planet fuck 6 feet deep

We call that the Joe West

I guess I see different things in movies because this felt like a stronger movie than the first. Maybe I just really like Yondu's character.

I also love that the Guardians have been covert eliminating beings who wanted to rule the universe. It's kinda hilarious that everyone is doing Thanos's job for him, removing any potential obstacles.

Earth has no Sorcerer Supreme, Avengers are broken, Ego's dead, Asgard is about to get fucked up. Really makes me want IW to start with Thanos reenacting the lobby scene from The Matrix with the Nova Corps.

No music, just make it look like a horror film scene with him tearing people apart with ease.

I know you bring facetious but whenever I hear this I'm thinking it's the laziest argument ever. It's like a meme at this point.
I was thinking the sams but didnt had time to formulate it out
A) Its formulatic
B) It looks like a TV movie
C) There are no Stakes
D) Villain is crap

If you are not able to formulate a good criticpoint, just go with the memes.

And then never expand on it beyond "They all are like that!"

I liked the little reference to the end of the first movie, where Groot stops dancing as Drax looks at him :p

The twist that purposely gave Pete's mum cancer felt pointless and went against everything Ego had been saying about her.

I know this is late to the party but I wanted to address this. I think it actually made a lot of sense. Twisted sense but sense none the less. He knew he was falling for her and it sounds like he couldn't resist going to see her and it would jeopardize the expansion. He planted the tumor in her head, a sort of burning your bridges behind you scenario so he knew he couldn't go back to her and he would complete his work. It's evil but it makes sense.
