Saw this earlier loved it, had a blast, i seemed to laugh more than most in the audience (only about 8-10 teens or early twenty-somethings).

Just…I at least saw the greatness in The Dark Knight while being unimpressed with Nolan's Batman interpretation.

Logan is not that, and I resent it's mentioned in the same breath as it. Ugh.

Not the Logan part haha. I prolly knew it was headed that way though.

Ohhhhh jeez. Yeah maybe we should have started that conversation with spoiler tags lol, but trust me when I say that you know it's coming at the beginning of the damn movie and it won't affect your enjoyment of it.

I don't doubt it, no worries. The how is immensely more important, i just did a double take.

Eh. I'm a father with a dying father of my own.

I'll never even watch the movie again, just like every "X-Men" film after X2.

I hate that Wolverine is my favorite hero after Spidey. Smh.

(Funny that both movies feature a "father-like" figure getting gutted after spilling their hearts out)

I liked the movie but before watching it somebody mentioned they can't keep a serious moment for 5 seconds without making a joke and god damn is it true.

Still. The dig at the
zune and teenage groot made my day

If you're talking about Logan.

That's what works for the flick Logan was going for. Charles just dies... unheroically. It's all about the last of days and the end of heroes. It wouldn't make sense for him to have a heroic death. It's actually even more cruel since it's Charles finally opening up about what happened, what he is sorry for, showing his selfish side with wanting to stay with the people for one normal night, etc. Basically the father on his death bed opening up to the son.

And it's to a clone. I mean, it's a cold fucking mean death that reinstate what Logan is about. It works for the type of flick it is going too and it does wrap up his arc beautifully. Just... it's not the good type of death like Yondu was.

Oh don't get me wrong, I knew they were going for emotionally cruel and draining. I'm just stating why it wasn't as emotional as Yondu's death is all. :p

I think I'll give the slight edge to GotG2 > Logan, but both were great.

a lot of the jokes like the extended title sequence with groot dancing felt forced.

Rocket/Quill, Rocket/Yandu, Gamorah/Sister, Quill/Gomorah, it felt forced

Splitting the team for pretty much the entire movie was also not a great idea. the Yandu/Quill relationship felt forced.

Three before school?? Ya'll killing me

Nothing about Yondu feels out of tone at all tbh, even in the first movie he basically let Peter off scot-free way more than he would for any other guy on his crew

The intro scene for Ego's planet with George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" playing in the background is pretty much a top 10 Marvel scene. The visuals met with the song and captured a perfect moment.

Such a feel good movie all around, but the vibe of that scene in particular was so fucking good. Which made Ego being a selfish fuck even sadder, what could have been.

Nigga had his face on a planet and everything. In a movie with Rocket and Groot in it.

We're past "Marvel won't go there". Unless of course we're talking about TV characters crossing over smh

I, For one, can't wait for the Turk Barrett NETFLIX/MCU redemption crossover, where he finishes Thanos with the remains of Thor's hammer At the end of Infinity War. Book it.

The fuck is this?
My opinion. Maybe its because I care more about Starlord and co as about Logan.
Sorry that I have this opinion.

Maybe its because the only thing anyone ever came up to make me feel bad for Logan was that they fuck up his Healing Factor. I was ¯_(ツ)_/¯ in that regard already around the time The Wolverine dropped.

Edit2: And yes, this sounds super cynic because I am annoyed that everyone freaks about because I think Logan is only a very good movie.

"I'm Turk Barrett baby. The Infinity Gauntlet ain't been built yet that could hold me back."

Pretty much. I thought the first was pretty mediocre and unfunny. The sequel upgrade was Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 tier

Yup. I found the first movie confusing with Ronan being a pretty terrible villain. In vol 2 Kurt Russel is a much better antagonist, and the emotional ending is way more powerful than anything in Vol.1

The chemistry between the main cast is pretty much the same between both movies.

My comic book buddies loved it as well.

So many cameos, the emotional tones, everything clicked with them.
Heck, we got the planet-faced Ego on screen!

More Logan vs GotG2

Logan was telegraphed from start AND yet Logan kept running away from his role almost to the end. It did get emotionally tiresome. It didn't help either that Logan and Laura were connected almost entirely via violence. His ultimate sacrifice was a relief as he was going to die anyway.

GotG was a bit of a surprise. I didn't see Yondu coming. I mean it was already there in the text, ((1)Drax: I thought Yondu was your father. Everybody: NOo haha he's blue (2) Rocket handing over the last suit and saying goodbye) but I didn't expect to that choice of family to be the point

The final emotional beat in Logan was supposed to resonate his final words:
"Take your friends and run."
No.
"They'll keep coming."
"Listen you don't have to fight any more.
"Go."
"Don't be what they made you"
"Laura"
"Laura...''
daddy
"Ah, So this is what it feels it like"
i.e. it's supposed to resonate with his death. Even as Logan is dying he's telling Laura to leave. He's telling Laura to repudiate what connects them (fighting) and that she doesn't have to be what they made her (his daughter). I get what they were going for, and yes it's sad, but they made it all about Logan, not what Laura wants.

I found GotG2's more eloquent:
"He may have been your father, boy,
but he wasn't your daddy"
[That's when it hit me and I start weeping]
"I'm sorry I didn't do none of it right.."
That emotional crescendo is when Yondu swoops in and offers himself as a father -- after Peter destroys Ego, the father he thought he had been looking for his whole life, Peter is not even trying to escape; he's given up. Yondu tells him he needs to hear to carry on. Yondu doesn't demand or proclaim that he's Peter's daddy; he leaves it up to Peter to choose to make that connection. And he apologizes... (I didn't hear the rest because I was wiping away my unexpected tears even before Yondu died). I didn't weep for Logan. I didn't weep for Groot in GotG. Well played Gunn

Wow all I said was Logan raised the bar and I didn't find Guardians emotional outside of being funny and some of the reactions in here is crazy.

Calm down, Guardians 2 is a fun film

Logan's weakest scene was its finale where the girl recited that cheesy monologue word for word that she heard once earlier in the movie, turning her from a pretty believable fictional child into a cliche yak-bak that spouts "profound" things for the audience.

Similarly, the weakest part of GotG2 was Quill and Gamora's "romance" because it was "dramatic" for the audience and not because there was any reason for it to be for them. Like, who cares if he likes her? Why is that his "deepest darkest secret"? Are they five years old?

When I saw some of the posts acting like it was an "either/or" had me cringing like Rocket after Yondu smiled at him after telling baby Groot to fetch the fin lol. Come on, people.

This was Drax's reaction for one, and it's also something that Gamora had wanted to keep a secret as she seems like she doesn't want to show that "she's a dancer".

Yes. My jaw dropped. Also GOTG 2 takes 3 of the top 5 MCU moments with that, Drax and Mantis sitting, and I'mMary Poppins, y'all.

you can't just put up shitty posts in the GotG thread and then complain you get replies.

GOTG2 might hit harder because it's got some real fucking emotional whiplash to it

Ego is cool - No Ego needs to die like right now now now now now
Omg Yondu saved Peter - wait they're going to space - nooooooo
