You're doing it wrong Arc.

There.

I've been to youtube school, I'm a pro, believe me.

Amazing

Japanese Client: Well let's hear it

Sean: What do you think?

Japanese Client: Sounds like English, good to me!

Real talk, that's probably what happened.
Hopefully Chris Sabat and Sean Schemmel have the whits to do it right when it comes to the arc.
Sean's Tweets make it sound like he doesn't understand that Goku Black and Rose Goku Black are the same character.

Telling you, once Beerus see's Ultimate, it'll be revealed that he was the last person to have his potential unleashed, and he sealed the Elder Kai up so no one would ever be as strong as him.
And then I'll wake up from my dream, complaining it really did happen in the episode.

it'd make sense

also cause it could be written off as a method of creating GoDs

Japanese client: Okay, so we're introducing a new villain called Goku Black. He's going to be a self-absorbed self-righteous god using Goku's body. Can you try to read some lines so we can see what direction you're using?

Sean Schemmel: *jumps up and down on table, slapping own ass while snorting like a bit and intermittently screaming in a falsetto*

Japanese client: sounds good

(I realize that Fj0823 posted something very similar, but I thought of it before I clicked on this page and I'm too stubborn to be swayed.)

goku black likey is waaay worse than the other video

say what you want about nozawa but her goku black was on point

SSR Goku Black is almost fine, Schemmel just needs to turn the British accent down a little and it'll be good. Regular Goku Black on the other hand... with the improved SSR voice there's no reason to still have BatGoku as base Black. They should just rerecord the whole thing.

It's interesting how the RoF outfits still pop up in merchandising sometimes. I guess it wasn't Bandai pushing them to be removed then.

Annnnd I ordered. In a matter of minutes I'll have DB merch at my door yesss.

Good thing there's no Gohan tho because I'd end up ordering a ton of happy meals that way.

Why does Sean Schemmel sound like he doesn't realize that SSR Goku Black and normal Goku Black are the same character?

I know right? Someone should simply tell him who the heck Goku Black is supposed to be. It's like "No guys I already recorded what was my take on the character! Not changing it now! Boo!"

I have a better question.

Why doesn't he realize he's Zamasu and not some random evil version of Goku ?

The fact that he always refers to the character as "Goku Black" in all recordings says a lot.

Black always refers to himself as either Zamasu or Son Goku, Black is a nickname.

That much is stated on episode 2 of his arc.

As you say he probably thinks this is Turles 2.0 and won't accept any corrections because "his take" on the character is that it's Turles 2.0

I've noticed the Japanese have a lot more say/power when it has regarded the dub of the games. It was with the games that we got to hear the moveset names pronounced correctly, such as "Kaiou-Ken" which prior in the dub had always been "Kay-o-Ken".

I recall Sabat years ago mentioning that they would be there in the booth with them during the recordings to give their input so I'm not shocked at hearing/believing this.

Eh. Voice actors are ultimately directed by a voice director, so if there's a direction that's wrong, that's more of who to take up the issue with than the actor himself.

Ok so my question now is WHY THEN?

Hell if I know. He's being stubborn as hell. I understand that making snap decisions based on fan feedback is potentially self-destructive, but the opinions seem basically unanimous to me. I don't think you can ignore the fans entirely.

Do we know where they are in the dubbing process for Super? They do a good number of episodes a chunk at a time? It could be he's dubbed that far up already so his work is done.

Ultimately how the dub turns out is up to Sabat, not Sean.

Considering how late they got the show's rights, it's very unlikely they reached Black's arc.

French production had a 52 episodes deal that they dubbed.

I doubt Funimation got access to all episodes when they got it last and for a channel that airs one episode a week, unlike the French channel that airs 5 episodes a week.

They werent the last, LatAm is dub is rumored to be working on the start of the Beerus arc right now.

Just dawned on me, Krillin got a powered up version of Tien's move.

Give Tien like a powered up Multi-Form or something.

Give my boy something!

Dont know how to tell you this, but they already did! Its just... they gave the move to Piccolo.
Tien really should have got some patents.

Vegeta's big speeches were better in the original dub imo. stolen honor, debt must be paid, meaningless, etc.
A little disappointing.
One thing I liked about the OG dub was how much it made Vegeta revere his Saiyan heritage. He was always on about his birthright as the prince, revenge for his race, pride in being royalty, etc. Japanese/New Dub Vegeta doesn't really care about his heritage and just takes pride in strength. I always liked the tragic, arrogant prince angle better than the prideful warrior angle.

.... Looks like I better order some Happy Meals
This just reminds me of of how confusing it is that they gave F. Trunks blue hair, when his normal hair color was previously not blue, when blue hair signifies a new transformation, but Trunks never achieves this transformation.

Every single thing about that arc was confusing.

Sayians, amirite?

New TFS

I honestly find this to be a weak episode. The Cell and Goku sex tension jokes are not funny to me and most of Satan's lines were the same as the show. The only really funny dialog was Cell making fun of Trunks' Ultra Super Saiyan and the Hillbilly hits his wife joke. Goku's stolen techniques fall flat since most of them were techniques he learned from his teachers over the course of months, while Cell had the move written in his DNA.

TFS is also trying way too hard with Tien and I also found the fallout with Satan funnier in the actual series.

Overall, average. It's easy to tell that they didn't have much to work with since the Cell vs. Goku fight was dead serious with little in the way of humor, especially given Cell's character.
