Broly never fought Super Saiyan 2 Gohan in any form. Gohan was a basic Super Saiyan in the second movie.

Cell surpressed himself against Goku. Everyone nearly crapped themselves when Cell showed them his true power, except Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. Super Saiyan Gohan from the second movie is also weaker than Super Saiyan Gohan from the Cell Games.

I do feel like the animators use the lightning when they want to make characters look powerful.

I have a hard time believing Gohan wasn't fighting at full power against Dabura and was only SSJ1 while fighting Dabura.

But the animation would lead us to believe he's not SSJ2 even though it doesn't make much sense.

From what I remember, regular Perfect Cell wasn't even in the same league as SSJ2 Gohan.

Cell no doubt held back against Goku, but Goku still put up a half decent fight. It's debatable if Perfect Cell could have wrecked Goku, Teen Gohan, and adult Gohan as badly as Broly wrecked adult Gohan. It wasn't even remotely in the same power tier.
 
Broly is definitely weaker than Cell. He died to SSJ Goku ffs. Only reason he got anything done in the second movie is because Gohan was considerably weaker than he was during the Cell saga.

Also cause they wanted the movie to last more then 5 min.
 
I'd be okay with a nice Bardock meets Goku scenerio. Not bringing him back to the maincast, but i'd love something like that as a one off thing.

With that said though a ton of videogames have already covered that scenerio so many times over.

I think Super Perfect cell probably would be able to beat Broly, if only because of his stupidly overpowered regeneration and Brolys preference for physical attacks than big extended Ki blasts.

He'd potentially be weaker than him but he'd also almost certainly outlast him.

Those panels are a bad source, those are some old ass fan translations known for being crappy. Regardless, it's saying the opposite. Buu saga Gohan is weaker than Cell-saga Gohan, so if he could beat Dabura, it means Dabura is weaker than Cell.

Clearly you've seen the movie, may I know why you decided to ignore the fact that SSJ Goku couldn't do anything until he received the power of Trunks, Vegeta, Piccolo and Gohan ?

Makes a lot of sense since Gohan tore right through Bojack and his goons. Oddly I think that's one of my favorite movies or at least one of the ones I've seen the most.

It's possible, but I don't think so. Broly defeated the entire cast of the Cell saga single handedly and easily without effort. I don't think SP Cell could handle Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, etc all at the same time.

I'm not a Broly fan by any means, just judging by what took place in the shows/movies

The Viz translation of the same scans says pretty much the same thing and Buu Saga Gohan being weaker than Cell saga Gohan was never in contention.

That was the entire point of me posting that first scan.

Gohan wasn't going to beat Dabura judging by their fight and Vegeta's annoyance. Dabura still considered Gohan trash after the fight was over.

He didn't, but the Cell juniors did beat most of the same fighters Broly did, and they are far weaker than SPC.

Yeah but clearly it had nothing on SSJ2 otherwise he would've told Gohan to beat Broly lol.

I really don't see how a villain before the main arc villain is somehow stronger. If he really was, Goku could've just done that bullshit receive everyone's powers to beat Cell.
 
Pony-tail Future Trunks with the Capsule Corps clothes is the best design. Oh and Vegeta would have never beat Broly, even as Majin Vegeta. When was the last time Vegeta killed off a major antagonist?

So let me go through this thought process then.

Dabura: about the same power as Cell
Pre-Ultimate Buu Gohan: Weaker than end of Cell Saga Gohan

Gohan was about equal to Dabura in the fight, and judging by the end of the fight, he was going to win.

So Gohan being able to beat Dabura means at that time he would be stronger than Cell

Broly Second Coming: Broly whupped Gohan, only losing due to lava. This shows that Broly could beat Gohan at that level, meaning he could beat Cell, since that Gohan would beat cell

Judging by this, Broly would edge out Cell

He didn't, but the Cell juniors did beat most of the same fighters Broly did, and they are far weaker than SPC.

So let me ask this, since I can't remember exactly right now. Cell in the beam struggle against SSJ2 Gohan was not SP right?

If he was, then Vegetas blast doing that damage, plus Goku holding his own, shows that if Trunks and Piccolo joined in, you could assume that they'd be able to beat Cell as a team. It would have to mean though that the Cell JR's aren't actually that much weaker than SP Cell. This is speculation at this point though.

I do believe he's Super Perfect in the beam struggle since beam struggle was post Goku's death.

That's the problem though nothing suggests Gohan was going to defeat Dabura. If anything the scans prove the opposite.

Dabura still thinks he's a trash fighter, and Vegeta was getting mad because he didn't think Gohan was up to the task and wanted to step in to get the fight over with.

Cell was at his strongest in that final kamehameha struggle. Vegeta had to use all his strength to just summon a blast strong enough to distract Cell and Gohan capitalised. I don't think anyone but Gohan would've stood a chance vs Super Perfect Cell.

I don't recall what happened in the manga, but going by the anime, Gohan was winning against Dabura, which caused him to change plans after noticing the evil in Vegeta.

Yeah One on One for sure at the time

It's not a stretch to assume that pre-SSJ2 Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, and Piccolo could beat SP Cell as a team. Goku kept up with him, Vegeta did damage, and Trunks/Gohan was at least near Vegeta levels in strength. It's a pointless debate though, I don't think theres anyway to find out for a fact either way.

Goku pulling out a transformation that he was only able to obtain while training in the afterlife, put together with a track which gives off an almost angelic vibe.

Very well done.

Not a fan of how much he talks in the Kai version. Less is more in this instance.

The same thing happens in the anime Dabura leaves to get Vegeta under his control probably because he doesn't find Gohan satisfying to fight anymore and feels he's beneath him.

As for Cell, he was SP in the beam struggle and was distracted by Vegeta's attack not damaged by it, and if you go by the anime, they do team up on Cell during the beam struggle. He just kept swatting them away while maintaining his attack.

I don't think so considering they were being blown away by his full power in Perfect form when he attacked SSJ2 Gohan.

His SPC form would just be over kill.

The way Babidi talks about Dabura, he got a significant power boost from the meditation room, so I'd think he's significantly stronger than Cell.

Super Perfect Cell will be the baseline

SSJ2 Cell-saga Gohan: Stronger than SPC

SSJ1 Cell-saga Gohan: Weaker than SPC

Buu-saga pre-ultimate SSj2 Gohan: Weaker than SSJ2 Gohan

Dabura: Was it or wasn't it stated he was equivalent to Cell? From what I recall watching, he was matched up pretty evenly with Buu-saga pre-ultimate SSJ2 Gohan. Posters seem to have evidence showing that he was Cell-level in power

Broly: Way stronger than Buu-saga pre-ultimate SSJ2 Gohan, difference in power shows he'd beat Dabura easily.
