Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

No, I'm not, and the fact that you can't even defend your point about this outside 'you are wrong' and 'I disagree' says a lot about that. I mean, hell, do you think everyone just closed their eyes when the WW was on screen in BvS lol?

Everyone in my theater after the movie ended:
"Who was the woman with the superpowers? Why was she there?"

Oh well, no matter what we tell you guys, you'll never believe us. We've had this discussion a thousand times already. And no, I don't believe this will actually impact WW's chances at the box-office.

Two questions for those who might know:

1. Does this film have a post-credits scene?

2. Does this film have a post-credits scene that involves Cheetah?

I think the positive reviews, as happened with Ghostbusters last year, are more dependent on "gender" (female movie star + female director) than by its actual quality.

I saw the press preview yesterday and 96% on Rt is absurd.
The movie is just average, with a kitsch and stupid ending, a weak villain and very bad special effects.

....................

They do when people say grossly misinformed, sexist shit and with good reason.

Oh, I wasn't even referring to - *scrolls up* - Fulge and his obviously accurate accusation that Ghostbusters got a positively kingly 73% on Rottentomatoes because it had female leads.

Wait, I thought the positive reviews happened because Sony faked reviews and/or paid for them? /s

It's a smart move. You call the reviewer pretending to be WB, you pay them, then they reveal it and WB gets all the dirt. We're witnessing 8d chess here. I guess Ike brought home some lessons from Trump.
Marvel is always Ten Steps Ahead

Glad it seems to be turning out well, looking forward to catching it (though likely next weekend).

I feel for the DC stans, though.
lol
Spending over a year talking up how fucking cool grimdark BvS was and how superior it is to the cheery, candycoated, quipfest Marvel movies, only to then get a well-reviewed Wonder Woman movie that is -- by all accounts -- well-reviewed *because* its as bright, optimistic, funny, and heroic as those Marvel movies is some monkey's paw curse shit.

DC doesn't do post-credit scenes.

Suicide Squad had a post-credits scene.

We are just silly europeans, if someone else tells us, that these characters are actually known in our own countries, we better believe it!

If true this just means that the DCU will now get the critical kid gloves that are usually reserved for Marvel and Star Wars films. The soft pass that the likes of Rogue One got in film reviews did no one any favours.

damn, got caught up with the MRA and almost missed this gem 😂

Spoke to a friend at a local Toronto newspaper and they're review is still embargoed. I think the change in embargo dates was for youtubers/bloggers and select news outlets. So weird.

No, cause most of the Italian moviesites reviews claim that the movie is enjoyable but absolutely not a masterpiece. RT does not aggregate my country reviews but only Americans or in english/spanish language.
96% is better than Dark Knight, LOL.
You'll see.

High RT score doesn't mean it's a masterpiece. It's simple, they either liked it or didn't. Most people are liking it hence the high score. Which is why for the most part RT means shit but then we wouldn't have our epic meltdowns or crow eating threads.

They still saw her, so whenever they saw trailers and saw that character again, it was someone they recognized and knew. I'm sure a lot people probably googled it, too, since her parts were well-regarded in the film (though I didn't care much for them). So, you're actually helping to prove my point, though you meant it the opposite. Again, known =/= knowing everything about the character. Literally, I mean it as just known. That mindshare goes a long way.

This seems to have combined the cool grimdark with some color. We got both fam. Patty made everyone happy.

Happy for the character, happy for women and young girls to have a hero like wonder woman, and happy for DC/WB to get a much much needed win, maybe this can start something of a Renaissance for them. Gals life is likely changed forever after this. An overnight legend.

I'll gladly eat crow on the fact that I thought Gal would be the weakest link and hold it back.

Still super happy to see the movie be great critically. Especially with such a prominent female super hero and given DCs recent film record. Aside from JL, I'm fairly excited for the rest of the DC talent lined up, but especially Whedon on Batgirl.

The sooner DC can put the Snyder movies behind them, the better.

Many of the trailers looked like rubbish, by the way, so if this in fact a good film, well done to the marketing team for failing to communicate that.

So wait, are reviewers not biased against DC anymore? I'm confused.

Lol, yeah, I mean 1B is pretty out there. I do think the movie will end up doing better than a lot of people predicted, especially initially when people were low-balling it. I think it has a chance to hit Suicide Squad numbers.

I am from the US, but I don't really think that matters. Anecdotal evidence from one's home country doesn't trump all.

Still feel like Suicide Squad was low-balling, especially now. If for no reason other than Wonder Woman is better known than anyone in Suicide Squad was.

What 'kid gloves'? Don't most Marvel movies sit around 6/7 out of 10?

I swear people see 95% on RT and just assume 'oh shit, it got 9.5/10!'

So wait, are reviewers not biased against DC anymore? I'm confused.
The new line is that reviewers are more SJWs than they are Marvel shills so because this superhero is a woman they're predisposed to give the movie the critical acclaim of a 7.9/10, the highest score imaginable, despite it being DC but it is also probably still good because its DC but this doesn't mean the others were bad. So they're still biased against DC but also SJWs wouldn't rate a female movie less than the highest grade possible, 7.9/10.

Wait for Captain Marvel, 100% fresh, Oscar for Larson, 8.1/10 (breaking previous records and making it the pinnacle of cinema).
