I'd say it's pretty much decided at this point actually, and also that's a cute "jab" by MS (6>4) but what really matters is the games and on that front MS is severely lacking in the first party department.

What happened to everyone that said that the Scorpio was going to be $799? Lol
lol did that actually happen? That would've been the most stupid pricing in the whole console history.
$499 could work but it would seriously hurt the sales. $399 is the perfect price, it might put some red figures in MS's economics reports but I believe that's something they have to accept if they want to launch this console in a successful way. Sony will obviously price cut the Pro so over $399 for Scorpio will be difficult.

If they call this thing the Xbox 10S, I'm just going to stop trying to understand what the hell they're doing.

Xbox > Xbox 360 > Xbox One > Xbox 10s? What in gods green earth are we even doing anymore

My guess: It will be $399 and they'll still make money off of it. Its got an overclocked version of the CPU and GPU that are in the PS4 Pro, doesn't it? It's got more RAM, and i'm sure the unit cost for the board & APU will be slightly higher than whatever Sony's paying for the PS4 Pro, but seriously... why would it be $500? Sony's been making money off each PS4 Pro sold for a year now... prices have fallen, no chance in hell this thing is more than $399.

Voodoo is straight up making things up. The price that was hurled around was $499.

Correct. Microsoft has shit the bed completely this generation in the games department. Sucks as its the only console I don't have. Would love it if they would actually put some effort into it making me want to buy one.

I still have my doubts about 399 price point (at least in some Euro countries) because XO was freaking 529€ in its launch where I live. PS4 449€.

Hows that working out for them so far? Its ALL about the games.

It's all about the price since both consoles get the majority of big multiplatform releases. It's nothing like the PS2 years. PS4 won because it was $100 cheaper, played multiplatform games better and wasn't a PR disaster like Xbox One's DRM.

As I recall I believe you said it was going to be way to expensive because it's going to do 4k60fps.

Nope.

Anyone brought up that 10 is binary for 2? Xbox Two incoming.

No I'm not serious, they can't be that bad at naming it.

I'm rarely excited about a name but I can't wait to see what they've gone with. They have quite a lot of information to get across.

Xbox One Up is one if the better ones I've heard, ha.

I did notice on the latest video about the Dev kids Larry said "a 'different' screen on the front"

Confirming screen on retail? Or just a dippy moment?

It's not just an overclocked version of PS4 Pro's GPU.

What PS4 Pro uses is pretty much a full Polaris 10 (36 CU, 18 CU for PS4), whereas Scorpio uses a custom chip, with 40 CU.

They are both "custom", but Scorpio is something relatively new, that doesn't exist anywhere else. That means that chip was probably more expensive to make, because of the extra R&D cost. On top of that, it's overclocked, so it's going to run really hot and the console has premium (more expensive) dissipation as well. Also, it has more RAM. (EDIT: GDDR5, I wrote DDR4 before).

Nah, it costs DEFINITELY more than a PS4 Pro. Obviously we don't know the details, but if they can afford to sell it at 399$, Sony could offer PS4 Pro at 299$ easily.

It doesn't use ddr4.

Pretty positive Scorpio's GPU is based off of Polaris as well. Sure it's a custom Polaris with a few more CU's and a significantly higher clock speed than the PS4 Pro's, but ultimately a very similar chip that should not cost Microsoft a ton more to manufacture. I feel like the price will be really competitive, and anything over $399 would stun me.

If Sony can release (and make a profit off of) the PS4 Pro for $399 1 year ago, then Microsoft can release the Scorpio this fall for $399 easily. There's just not a big enough difference between the hardware here to justify pushing the price up to $450 or $500.

Had they thrown in a Zen processor, or a vega GPU (lol), then ya... we'd be looking at a ridiculous asking price, but this is for all intents and purposes the same stuff we're seeing from the competition, just at a much higher clock speed which doesn't in and of itself add much to the cost of manufacturing.

$399, out in October and apparently I'm going to have to assume they name it "Xbox 10S"

A screen is different from no screen. Of course they won't put a screen on the console itself in a business where they count screws to keep cost low.

If this stuff is indeed taking jabs at Sony, I find that slightly hypocritical of them. I mean, unless Phil Spencer has no say in these marketing stunts, but he's always been a big believer in not having a console war (mainly because they were losing it at the time) and gave examples how each console brings something new to the table.

The comments in this thread are really exagerated given that the subject at hand is an easter-egg inside a short teaser trailer that the vast majority of us wouldn't even have spotted were it not for this thread.

It's well-known fact that Sony is allowed to do whatever they want with their marketing and it's perfectly okay, but Microsoft isn't allowed to say anything because this is console war bullshit and not okay.

Guess it helps that the head of PlayStation doesn't come out and say he's against the console war stuff every now and then.
Personally love it, wish they went full SEGA vs Nintendo instead of pretending they give a shit about eachother.

I personally think the name will be Xbox One 4K or Xbox One 4KS

They won't do that because it is up to developers how to use the power. Just because it is built for 4K doesn't mean the games will run at 4K. And if you take that away, well, the Xbox One S is already a Xbox One 4K. That name would just bring them back into 1080PR territory and that is not a place where they want to be ever again.

Pretty much this. You can really see who's invested more than they should in Sony based on posts like these.

6>4 is an irrefutable mathematical fact.
Let them have some fun, I'd say. I like feisty stuff like this. I won't let pathetic console warriors ruin that for me. These are still competing companies in the end.

I think some of you are taking the '6>4' a little too seriously with your 'but games' retorts. Sony, as pointed out in this thread are very quick to beat their chest when It comes to advertising. The 'this is how we share games on ps4' YouTube video instantly springs to mind. Microsoft didn't even put the dig at the forefront of their video, it was only noticed later when people started taking a closer look. I think it was just a bit of fun.
